  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) If Owens can't hit around .300 and steal at a 75% clip, then you have to go with whoever is at 2b. There's just no other way around it. I could live with any of Nix, Lillibridge, or Getz leading off if they can hit adequately. Beckham gets my vote.
  2. So.....What position does Betemit play well? Its not SS and not 3B so far.
  3. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) But can Wise lead off? Or would it be whoever starts at 2b? No he cannot, in fact he can barely hit major league pitching at all.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) Link WTF??? Commanding the field? Once again proving Greg Walker is legally blind.
  5. PM SSI, he's an IT guy.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Owens gets himself tied up when he swings, which makes it harder for him to get down the line. Good call on Getz, he's definitely quick. Because his swing is the opposite of flat, his bat doesnt stay in the zone long at all and he falls over the plate when he finishes. All pretty terrible mechanics. Danks getting knocked around a bit. Cutters and changes.
  7. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Danks doesn't look good today at all facing right-handed guys, his location is all over the place He's working on something and also getting nickel and dimed to death.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) All we can hope for is for him to keep playing awful this spring. I just dont understand the coaches who look at his short armed uppercut swing that cannot make solid contact to any field and has zero power and say, well this kid could be our leadoff hitter.
  9. Owens isnt even that fast on a baseball field. He really is a bad baseball player. With that swing, he cant break .250
  10. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) I just spit my drink up when you said number 1 seed. They also did not have to go on the road to Texas, Ok State and did not have to face a Michael Beasley on the road. Yes, we had a better record, but against way easier competition, and a major break(Griffin Injury) I realize this teams has gotten progressively better over the year, but number 1 seed talk is just ridic. As a KU fan, this year is like playing with the house's money. I did not expect them to compete for a Big 12 title, nor make that much damage in the NCAA tourney. The run to the Big 12 Championship shows the amazing coaching by Self. If this team reaches the Sweet 16,I will chalk it up to a sweet rebuilding year. WOuld you be entirely surprised if they exited early either? Its possible KU is very good, but also that the Big 12 is just very down.
  11. Dye has been running in quick sand this entire spring. That ball was probably 30 feet away from where he started.
  12. I'm really surprised at the lack of pushback on me putting a rookie in the leadoff position for this team.
  13. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) i just wish we could have a legit cfer. doesnt even have to be someone like torii hunter, etc. someone that can get the job done, someone like dejesus. bcuz i really like that lineup but BA kind of kills it, even though hes batting 9th. Right. I really put him in there for defensive reasons. I think our pitching staff could be good enough to carry this team and I wanted at least ONE plus fielder on the grass.
  14. I know what the reaction is going to be, "why start his clock" "really that early", "he will have to adjust", "scouts dont know him yet." But here is my opening day lineup. And yes I know I am putting a guy with 14 pro games in that spot. I feel our pitching can be the strength of this team and because of that I like the defensive talent as well as the athleticism. 1. Becks 2B 2. Alexei SS 3. Thome DH 4. Q LF 5. Kong 1B 6. Dye RF 7. AJP C 8. Fields 3B 9. BA CF I honestly believe Becks is a special player and could give us almost Sizemore-like production in the leadoff spot. Lilli backs up SS and 2B Betemit backs up 3B and 1B Kroeger backs up RF and LF
  15. Honestly, f*** the arb clock. Beckham may be my leadoff hitter right now, in fac the lineup we had out there today is pretty close to how I would make it.
  16. QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 02:55 AM) Eh I've said this before, but I think Cotts was one of a few Sox bullpen guys from 2005 that were "enhancing" themselves with something. He, along with Dustin and Cliff, came virtually out of nowhere to post phenomenal numbers. And spare me the "bullpens are fickle from year to year" and "this happens all the time" garbage. Look at their stats before 2005, and their stats after 2005, and tell me it doesn't at least look suspicious. But to answer your question, no, I don't think you're in the majority when you say you miss Neal Cotts. Eh, if you've said it before then you have been a f***ing moron more than once. I know Neal personally and you couldnt be more wrong. Neal was actually a good prospect and started the futures game at the cell, but of course any player that has a good year is on the juice. Thanks for your input.
  17. AHAHAHAHA. Still trying to hit himself off the island.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) What did Slayer do this AB? He layed off maybe one close pitch, but the rest werent.
  19. Resto yanks one into LF, Becks scores from 2nd off a great piece of baserunning.
