  1. Notes from the game already: Beckham is ridic Field's swing is totally different IMO. MUCH quicker with his wrists. Allen could be a good reserve, not sure he can hit lefties. Kroeger rakes.
  2. Fields is going to have a good year, his swing is much faster than his last stint with the team. I wonder how much of that is the lasik?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) How much can you judge based on people's performance this early in ST? I'm judging it based on what I see in his approach. He is a better hitter than players we've had on our roster.
  4. Beckham is a MLB ready hitter right now, Im sure of it.
  5. Allen is getting alot of looks this spring. I like it.
  6. QUOTE (ChesterCopperpot @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Why'd Fields try for third? He thought they were throwing over to first, he broke early.
  7. Allen legs out a single for an RBI. Fields out at 3rd.
  8. Allen up. He doesnt look good against LHP.
  9. Fields laces a single. RBI if it wasnt Thome on 2nd. 2-2 for Josh.
  10. Between Thome, Q and Fields you could have over 100 HR's
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) The question really becomes, do you believe the package we sent to Oakland is better than the package we got from the Yankees? Possibly. Ryan Sweeney would be our starting CF'er right now.
  12. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) The triple into right center? One of those is considered being hit hard?
  13. QUOTE (ChesterCopperpot @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) Link getting hit hard. ? You always say that, but he really hasnt. Error by Flowers, little single into CF and a dribbler.
  14. Heres a question. The Aussies are pretty good athletes in other sports, why hasnt baseball caught on?
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) Kroeger the RBI machine strikes again. I mean, the kid has a nice easy swing. He's been blocked for years, lets give him a shot.
  16. FWIW, Nunez looks like Dotel 2.0 out there. Very similar delivery.
  17. I like anyone at backup Catcher other than Cole Armstrong. There is something about his swing that I dislike.
  18. Backup catcher will be Corky. I think the other backups are Lilli and Kroeger IMO with BA starting in CF. Owens will prob be hurt again.
  19. Those pics show two bad calls by the ump. Getz out at 2nd and Viciedo missing the tag at 3b.

    Films Thread

Man, I thought the ad's during the shows last night made me want to see the movie less. I honestly had no idea what the concept of the commercials were.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Farmer did refer to it as a knuckle curve more than once yesterday. Ah, I didnt hear that. Thats what it looked like to me as it spiked kind of like Mussina's
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Or think if they didn't collapse against Clemson, @ Michigan and @ Michigan State, or if they could have just hit any shot against PSU the first time. This team could easily be about 29-2 or 28-3. The only clear beatings were @ Minnesota and @ Wisconsin. The rest can be chalked up to terrible end game play. I've been nothing but impressed with Weber's job this year. I expected to be a middle of the road big ten team. But they were in the title hunt in the last week. A title hunt against real competition (cough *Memphis* cough). The next 3-4 years are going to be one of the historic runs for the program I think. Lots of veteran talent mixed with raw talent and great coaching = multiple big ten titles and a couple of runs at the NCAA championship IMO. Dont discount the other talent that is coming into the Big Ten as well. It will be a battle for the title, but between a higher level of talent.
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) On Marquez, I haven't seen any of him so far this ST, but it sounds like his results have been promising thus far. How's he looked so far? Better than I thought he would. I was really expecting Egbert 2.0 but have seen much more. His fastball is well located and has good sink. He also can drop it on both sides of the plate to both RH and LH hitters. His breaking stuff was the big surprise. His curve looks like a knuckle curve to me and drops quite a bit. I really think he could succeed if given some major league time.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Frankly, if BA doesn't pick it up he doesn't deserve to be in the big leagues to start the year. Ditto Owens. They are both proving that they may not belong on the Big League roster. BA at least can play D, neither can hit. And Jerry's swing is honestly awful. Its not condusive to hits to either field, its not a line drive swing, doesnt bring ground balls. Its terrible.
