QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) When a team wins a conference by as wide a margin as Michigan State did, lapping the field when the field might have 6 or 7 tournament teams in addition to Michigan State, that team is going to lap the field in terms of awards as well. Hopefully that snubbing of Turner makes him come back next year. -
Holy s*** theres alot of high profile papers on there.
-
Josh Fields hitting should be on there as his approach has looked much better this spring than in previous outings. Also, Chris Getz and Lilli are both better SB threats than Owens.
-
Kroeger can play CF. He was called a good athlete and was a college WR.
-
White Castle sliders are not hamburgers and should not be judged against that category whatsoever.

Uh, anyone watching Ubaldo Jimenez? 10k's in 4 IP

QUOTE (TLAK @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) It might boil down to Beckham & Wise Vs Lillibridge & Getz. If you keep Beckham he can back up SS but you need another OF, assuming they are in still love with Owens, and that would be Wise (no pun) as the 5th OF. If Beckham goes down then Lillibridge has to be on the team as the only legit SS backup but I don't think he'll hit enough to play 2B everyday so you need Getz on the team too. Since Lillibridge can also back up in OF you wouldn't need Wise. Simple. Of'ers Alexei BA Dye Q Kroeger Lillibridge

What's Alexei's 'real' experience as a shortstop?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Does it matter which hand he is? Isn't it easier for a right hander to play ss than 2b? Just curious, I honestly think it should be, but don't know... 2B is easier for a righty because of the double play. That alone makes it a requirement. -

Short Answer: Alexei should be in CF. Becks can play our SS, Getz at 2B. BA as a backup defensively. This gives our team the best chance to win IMO. 1. Getz 2B 2. Beckham SS 3. Thome DH 4. Q LF 5. Dye RF 6. Konerko 1B 7. Alexei CF 8. AJP C 9. Fields 3B Holy s*** thats a ton of power. Only Getz and AJP pretty much wont hit 20 hr's -

QUOTE (Scwible @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 10:16 AM) Question, do you fellows here who are in the field have a degree that is related to what you do? computer science, etc.... I'm personally on the IT sales side but hold a few certs. I have a psych degree with a focus on child dev.

I'd love to see Colon return to form with us. He can be dominating and at least serviceable.

QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) apparently, Mauer has had that kidney problem since he was born. I guess the pain really bothered him last year and decided to have to surgery in the offseason. I guess it was supposed to be a routine procedure, but obviously Mauer is still not better I hope he gets better, never a good thing to see good talent face something out of their control like that. I hope he goes 0-fer against us, but damn he is an amazing player.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) Speaking of the Braves, according to MLBTR says we're going after Ohman. He is a straight gas can. I loved when the Cubs brought him in against us. And I think thats bulls***. We have Thorton and Richard as our lefties out of the pen most likely. Ohman isnt better than either.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) Self proclaimed security experts because they ran an automated tool once, are getting a masters in IT security, or passed some cert. So if you do specialize in this, remember good people are still hard to find in this industry. Understatement right there. I could run some of the tools out there today and I have a psych degree.

Great post Jurny, and congrats to you and your wife on your good fortune with the process!

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 08:16 AM) If I had to say which area has the brightest future, it's the security area of IT, and as I see it, nothing else even comes close. Not only is the security path of IT short on people across the board, it's getting worse, because everyone wants to be a hacker these days...not the guy who stop them. While I would say thats a good niche, I personally see the most growth in IT in Virtual Systems management and applicatioon work for a SOA or web based infrastructure. Also a great area of growth for new grads is actually mainframe technology. Many of the folks that have mainframe experience and knowledge are getting old and retiring leaving large companies with huge holes in their teams. The mainframe is still growing year over year actually is making some advances in the area of green IT.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 10:57 PM) Does sperm have the potential to grow into a human being on it's own? Explain to me how an embryo is not human. Is an embryo not biologically a human being? When you were an embryo a long time ago, you contained DNA. Odds are that your DNA is the same back then as it is now. Now how does an embryo that is going through a stage of life that contains human DNA, is biologically human, not a human? Cover your little ears. I think you should go get a smasmortion at the smasmortion clinic.

Evan Turner should have been B10 POY. I understand why Lucas got it because his team won the conference. Turner did however rank #1 in scoring, #2 in assists and #4 in rebounds IIRC. If thats not POY statistics then I dont know what is. -
QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:45 AM) You're right, it's impossible. And I never said roids. I love baseball and the White Sox, but I'm also realistic about things. Not blinded by biases and loyalties. You are so realistic that you continue to infer something that is 100 percent false firsthand. But continue......Lets see what other dumb s*** you can spew about this subject.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:50 AM) It seemed like we started winning when Ozzie put AJ in the 2 hole.... A .307 OBP isn't impressive at all, but it was the little things that helped, like getting the man over, taking pitches etc.... I'm sure there are #s to refute those things, but sometimes its more than #s to change a lineups production and outlook. Alexie and Quentin are our best players but i think Alexie has more tools than CQ. Speed, defense, power etc... Quentin is pure offense! Not that he's a bad defender. I guess you can say they are pretty much equally important to our team. Trust me, winning had nothing to do with AJ's talent in the 2-hole, he was just better than what we had at the time which was nothing. AJP was putrid as a #2 hitter last season.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) i'd wait to start beckhams arb clock and then have this as my lineup when they want to start him Getz 2b Beckham SS Quentin LF Thome DH Dye RF Konerko 1b AJ C Ramirez Cf Fields 3b Bench of Betemit, Anderson, Lillibridge (PR and Def. replacement) and Lucy MB, Gavin, Danks, Colon, Contreras Jenks, Linebrink, Thornton, Dotel, Richard, Carrasco, Marquez/Broadway/Russell/Wasserman/Nunez (I am intrigued by nunez, but really like broadway in that mop up, nick masset role. Would like to see Marquez starting, don't think Wasserman has what it takes especially for multiple innings, and russell has been brutal) won't happen though, as the organization seems pretty stubborn at keeping alexei at SS even though its possible he would be a better CF than SS defensively (see BJ upton) and we have a gaping hole in CF right now I like that one too, the only caveat is that I hate that OF defensively. Alexei wasnt that great in his short time in CF, and I honestly think he is a better SS than Becks on really nothing more than short time seeing both. Beckham would see a ton of fastballs in that spot. The one thing I have liked about him so far though is that he seems to recognize breaking balls fairly quickly and can lay off the breaking s*** they will throw him in the lead off spot too.
