QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) Right. Not a single NL player can be a solid contributor to an NL team. That's a law. His NL numbers are better than Griffey's, and his splits against LHP are sick. If he was on the roster instead of Anderson I doubt Ozzie would be playing Wise over him. IM saying he was so bad in the AL that he was released. He is definitely a better option than Griffey, but he's not a stud, and isnt a better option that Swish and isnt as good defensively as BA.

QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) Games KGJ in CF=3 Games in CF until KGJ is on DL=11 I hate the negativity also Thats a bet, and also reality. And I said irrationality, which is what is killing this site.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) He's looked great in Florida. I'd take him over Swisher and Griffey right now. Dont let the NL inflated numbers mess with your judgment of players.

QUOTE (soxbearsbulls @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) I don't post anywhere, but I read everywhere. I used to read you guys every single day and you were great. This board was incredibly active in 05, 06, 07. But what has happend in 08??? I also read whitesoxinteractive and they are like 10 times as big now. It used to be about even. Their post game threads normally have double digit pages, here sometimes there isent even a post game thread! This used to be the place to be for sox fans like me, i'm just dissapointed to see how far its fallen. The site is more active when there are things to b**** about. I stay away more and more because of the irrationality of the game threads and threads after losses.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) I don't think we've given one away quite like that all year. This team is just so damn stupid, it's truly incredible to watch. Some of the blame certainly goes on Ozzie and KW for putting together/managing a team that lacking in IQ, but also, the players take some blame too, because nobody should be that dumb. It's hard to enjoy a pennant race when you give away game after game after game you should win. The White Sox toughest opponent is themselves, and that is who will defeat them if we lose the division race, not the Twins. Just a horrible loss to a horrible team at a horrible stadium we can't win in. Yes, shame on them for putting together a team with such a low IQ, man they are so stupid...........

2008 Beijing Summer Olympics Thread

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 12:37 AM) Cavic won the heat beating Phelps, then he won his semifinal swim beating Crocker, and had a faster time than Phelps also. If Cavic wins the gold, which he has a very legitimate shot to do, the only people who would be surprised would be the people at NBC. Nobody is even close to the swimmer Phelps is, he was saving some energy going to the finals. He's really unreal and can do anything he wants in the pool. If it was humanly possible, he could probably medal in every event save the 50 free. -
Jumped by no less than 7 townies at school with another guy, he got hit in the jaw with a cinder block fractured it in 4 places, I got a boot to the nose after being taken down, first time it was broken, but not the last. All in all my buddy got the worst of it, I'd like to think I held my own even though grossly out numbered.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:45 AM) I can name three just in the financial district. The bacon double char-cheddar burger from Gold Coast. The double cheesburger from Pepper's The hand-made 1/2# cheeseburger from Coca's. Hamburger heaven. Hoagie Hut

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) Easily the WORST.PICK.EVER. Especially since it was drug aided and stolen from Big Frank for his third.

Where we all these cubs fans when i was growing up? Nowhere to be found. Its gotta be hard being a member of the biggest bandwagon in sports.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:43 AM) They both are spending millions outside of the country to sign people that aren't in the MLB draft, so that sort of skews the numbers. Whereas we are just stealing millions of dollars outside of the country for our scouts to have new Escalades.

QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) Can't believe no one has mentioned Portillo's cheeseburgers. In a joint known for hotdogs, it's funny how the cheeseburger is the best thing there. Only better burger I've had was in Siesta Keys FL, or J Alexanders. Its not the best thing there, the beef/combo and chicken sandwich are better, and I'd even put the chopped salad up there.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) I am still a believer in that Sweeney will develop his power. Everyone knows he has it, he just doesn't seem to want to use it, yet. Also, I hate the arguement that if you play a certain position you must hit for power. Right, he must be hiding it away for the right moment...... Scouts have been saying he will develop his power for years, it hasnt happened yet, maybe in a few years. And I like Ryan Sweeney a ton for CF for some teams, but as a corner guy, his .724 OPS isnt going to turn many heads. You hate Swish, but he still beats Sweeney by 40 points in a bad year and 90 points in his career so far (with this year factored in). For comparison's sake Darin Erstad has a .748 career OPS. And thats fine if you arent a believer of that fundamental baseball theory. Once the A's have a good power hitting player come up and they need to put him on the field somewhere, they will put him in the corner OF, and then the light hitting guy goes to the bench.

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Makes sense. Since Broadway pitched today, he really doesn't help us for the next 5 days, so why not bring up a pitcher who can. It's basically the same thing they did after Richard's last start. Sent him down and brought up Russell to give us depth in the pen. It's a good strategy in case somebody blows a start out in Oakland and we need a long reliever. Using Richard in that role would save the rest of the pen. But who pitches in the next turn in the rotation?
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) That's an excellent point. If I was going to point the finger at a flaw in the organization in the last 10-15 years it would be development rather than drafting. Exactly. Thats where orgs like the twins kill us. Those guys are fundamentally sound from the bottom up and all know how to play once they reach the majors. Of course we are considered failures on here because we havent drafted all stars every year.
-
Richard isnt better than Broadway up here, sorry. Thornton must be hurt. Dont we have better relievers down there than Richard?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 07:06 AM) Redamaks is good, but it isn't that good. If you want to get into local joints, there are plenty of better places in Chicago. Easily, without the wait and the yahoo's

f*** YEAH. But In n out is still better. I do like whataburger as well.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) Well 'right now' Ryan Sweeney is on the DL and won't be back for at least 2 weeks, this is his 4th different injury of the season by the way. So you'd lose Swish but gain a 22 year old inexperienced lefty who's probably going to get maybe 7 or 8 starts the rest of the way and centerfield would have to be filled full time by Griffey, Anderson and Wise. Sweeney looks like he could have been our CF'er for a season or two, but when he moved to the corner, he becomes a soft hitting corner OF'er which usually means he's on the bench.

Scotty Bowman to Join Blackhawks

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 01:36 PM) As soon as the Hawks turn into the Cubs, which is going to be sooner then later, I'm getting rid of my season seats. They will never be the cubs, the location, season, sport, history, and coverage will stop it from ever happening. -
Twins blocked us, no surprise there.

I'd like to ask several posters to go read their reactions and comments in the game thread. Step back and take a look at what you are saying about this team in certain situations, you may be able to eliminate some stress in your life if you see how irrational you actually are.

QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) He gets smacked around the entire year in the minors, gets called-up and gets it done in his first ML start this year. I don't understand why he was called up in the first place with the way he was throwing this year, but I'm happy he pitched well. It's a bid odd isn't it? Can't even throw well in AAA and comes up and tosses the ball pretty well. I know it was only one start, but still. Last year he did well also. You wouldnt know his minor league troubles if it wasnt for people screaming at the top of their lungs that he sucks and Ozzie sucks and KW sucks. On this board, certain prospects minor league numbers mean nothing, and others it means everything.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) Swish with the 98 Ks though He sees so many pitches per at bat though. I wonder if Swish was put in a contact hitter role if he would rise to the occasion
