QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) All I'm looking at is what Uribe has done since taking over for Crede at 3B because he's looked like a completely different player at the plate since that game in Texas (hell he has 9 walks in 100 PA). This current Uribe is a .825-.850 OPS player with dependable if not excellent defensive abilities and it's not like he would have to keep this up for an entire season, just a few more weeks. Yes, but as we all know from watching his career, he will slump and those numbers will drop off to a sub .300 OBP and a low .200 BA.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) It's starting to get frustrating reading and hearing the same s*** over and over again. It seems the only reasoning behind this belief that some have that Crede will outproduce Uribe is a deep-seeded love for the man. There's no good dialogue going on, I'm trying to build a case off sound reasoning and all I'm met with is a s*** load wishful thinking and fanboy nonsense. I don't hate Joe Crede in fact I love Joe Crede 2006, he's pretty f***ing good and much better than Juan Uribe. I just don't think Joe Crede 2008 is going to help this team win, in fact I think he'll be a detriment. And no this isn't directed at you. Though your "errant throw" argument was totally wrong and pissed me off a little. I HATE YOU!!! And its not completely baseless to think Crede is better than Uribe, his numbers all over the board are better than Juan's. Even playing crappy this year Joe's OPS is over a 100 points higher than Uribe's.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) Well, my question is...what all does that figure include? Clearly they spent some good money on the facilities, but I find it hard to believe that was a $25 billion stadium. Does that cost include things like the new airport, transportation upgrades, the economic cost of telling half its citizens not to drive for 3 weeks, etc.? China saved some money on labor though that we wouldnt be able to pull off. They made workers live on the construction site for way below minimum wage here in the US and in very bad living conditions which wouldnt happen here, especially with the union involvement in everything Chicago.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) 40 dollar A&F shirt is a good start. Is that Abercrombie? Are those still open?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) No he hasn't. I don't give a s*** if he makes a diving catch every once in a while if he's going to be f***ing up on the easy plays then he's not helping this team with his glove. What is a healthy Crede anyway? Has he even been healthy this season? I don't really get that term. Oh and Joe Crede has 11 fielding errors and 8 throwing, he should also have at least 13 fielding but he got a couple favorable calls from the official scorer just before going on the DL. So no, it hasn't just been errant throws, he's been booting a bunch of easy grounders. Joe Crede 2005/2006 >>>> Juan Uribe defensively, I'm definitely not going to argue that one. Joe Crede 2008 has been bad in the field, no where near the player he was a few years ago. Whoa, someone has some hate for Joe Crede. Are you ok Kal? And yes, a healthy Crede is better defensively, he isnt healthy right now like 2007, which means he probably isnt. And as much as its not good, Uribe is also better offensively than Joe right now.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) Nice to see Danks heat up. Would like to see him and Gordon in AA next year. Danks is slugging the s*** out of the ball too.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 08:14 AM) Gotta love people who dress up for 8 AM lecture on syllabus day. Goddamn right I'm wearing shades and my Hollister s***. Pickin up b****es ain't never been so easy. I'm also partial to the guys that use the safety straps on their backpacks, like they're climbing a goddamn mountain. Hollister just screams Im trying to be cool but cant really pull it off so I try and wear something that was possibly trendy a few years ago and has just now become available at my local mall.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) That may be, but I don't want the team to have to deal with a grace period as Joe gets his ass in gear. Thats the issue, we all know for a fact now that Joe isnt healthy, which makes him a below average player.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) Not this season. Yes he is. His glove has been good, even though he was errant with some throws. If he is healthy, Crede is much better at 3B than Juan. In fact we take alot of Joe's range for granted, one of the doubles down the line this weekend in particular went right by Juan, and Crede would have sucked it up easily. Juan just doesnt have the same range, instincts or reactions of a healthy Joe Crede.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) Danks OTOH I would definitely wait on, same goes for Floyd. Danks needs to show in '09 that the workload of this season hasn't affected him all that much, and he also has to show he's capable of pitching deeper into ballgames before we lock him up on a large deal. With Floyd, he needs to put up another good year in '09 as well. . Show that he can pitch deeper into games? Huh? He's 18IP behind buehrle with one less start. Thats a pretty damn good pace. Danks has alot of IP, and has shown he's a top of the rotation pitcher who works hard on his game. There really isnt much he needs to show at all.

I'd wait a few seasons, they negotiate before his "walk" year. Believe it or not, Q has been injured before and I would like to see how well his surgically repaired shoulder holds up over a few seasons.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) So you want Crede to replace Uribe at 3B despite the fact that Uribe has been the better player? What are the chances that Crede would actually be an upgrade at third? They can't be very good. What has Uribe done to lose the starting 3B job? Nothing at all. Uribe was a regular at 2B to start the year and lost his starting job to Alexei because Ramirez proved to be the more valuable player, seems like history is repeating itself in this case. There's really no justification for giving Crede his starting job back right now so he'd have to come off the bench and since he possesses none of the skills you look for in a bench player it would only make sense to leave him in Charlotte for the next week and instead recall a more versatile ballplayer such as Owens or Cook. To be fair, Crede is still superior defensively, but I agree that Uribe has brought more to the team lately than an injured Crede.
-
Crede cant even play everyday in AAA, I dont think he will be active for very long.
-
Owens could always come up.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) Hendry sold high on Choi and Gallagher and worked big time for them. Huh? Do you remember who he even is? Choi never had great value, he straight up stole DLEE, and it was a GREAT move.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) I would never boo the Cup, but I'd certainly boo Cheap Shot Chelios. I love the Wings but I can't stomach that tool. He's a chicago boy who played hockey and lived here for many years. I would never boo Chelios.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) Is it also worth bringing up how much farther ahead the rest of the world is on broadband quality and speeds compared to those available in the U.S.? well, when you say the rest of the world, you dont really mean that. There are several areas of the world that have better speed and quality, but also an overwhelming piece of the population that is still looking for any decent internet connection.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 12:04 PM) He did get Harden for Gallagher and Patterson, though. ugh! DLEE for Choi

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) Maybe it will bring the idea of a "Beef" or "Combo" to the world stage...I love that anyone I know not from Chicago doesn't know what the hell I am talking about. There is a place here in Denver called "Chicago" and they sell beefs worthy of being sold downtown chicago. They also sell neon relish, vienna beef products, butter cookies (which I thought were national but after seeing them there and asking friends if they knew what they were I guess they are not) Thats good, because in alot of areas their "Chicago" style food is nothing of the sort. There are several in Florida that really dont know what they are serving as well as AZ.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) The volleyball stuff is outstanding, great game last night. Also, men's water polo (speaking of sports I had no idea we were good at) did what all American teams have done throughout the olympics and crushed Serbia. That puts them into the gold medal match, as they'll try to avoid getting the silver the women's water polo team had to settle for. The basketball team looked like they had things under control with a 21 point lead and Ginobili out, but Argentina is currently making a furious comeback in the 2nd quarter as the U.S. team decided this was a good time to take a nap. Men's VB last night, I enjoyed watching several guys I played against back in the day, especially Sean Rooney who went on a jump serving tear to really turn the tide on the Russians. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) I have DSL with AT&T and think it's fine. When the house phone is in use, it is a tad slower but that's why we have cell phones. DSL just isnt as good as cable, its fine for some people, but its just not in the same league.
