QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) correct....should have been pulled after Scutaro's hit. 1 out and man on first and you pull the pitcher with 80 pitches? Can you see the future? Thats an absolute terrible time to pull a starter who has been cruising. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) Gavin just threw a meatball for Scutaro to hit. Well, you don't deserve to win if you can't score. It was a sinker breaking in on him, he kept his hands back and hit it oppo. Not sure you can call that a meatball. GREAT outing by Floyd. Even with this inning and a few cheap singles, he was dominant. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) So I only have seen the bottom of the 6th. Seems like Marcum is just throwing 85 mph cutters, and the Sox are swinging like they're expecting a 95 mph fastball. He's just nasty. You can clearly see why he is so good. -

Wow, has Marcum thrown one hittable pitch yet? Jesus he is nasty. Heres the book on him that I've observed so far: If the pitch starts in the zone, its probably ending up a ball. If it starts out of the zone high, it will fall to one of the corners in the zone. Lefties should try to open hips and drive cutters down the line. Righties need to sit on changes for strikes. -
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) Are you saying a slice of pizza on your grilled cheese sammy? Never tried it, but I like the way you think! Oh yeah. Used to get it in college at our all night student union food shop. We called it the Clinton Special after a kid that we thought invented it. Take a square piece of thin crust pizza, place it between two slices of cheese, grill on bread. It adds delicious elements to the sammy, tomato, more cheese, and awesome crust. Add pep or sausage if you dare.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Get off your ass and make it! Also depends on where the ingredients are from. Italian subs-Oil, peppers, prov, seasoning Tuna salad-swiss cheese lettuce and tom Turkey-swiss, giardiera, spicy mustard, LTO-also depends where its all from, white hen, bari, vinnie's Manny's-just mustard and swiss Perry's-two kinds of mustard and swiss Potbelly's everything but oil theres so many options. Do you consider hamburgers sandwiches? Then I'd have to go mayo and LTO. Hows about a Rib sand-just pickes and onions Grilled cheese-2 slices american, butter on bread, and if i'd had pizza recently, a middle slice of thin crust.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) And wasnt Piazza undrafted? Pretty much, in fact he was only drafted as a personal favor to his Dad.
-
It really depends on where the sandwich is from.

Lance has shown he can win games when he starts. Both times he has started, he has pitched well. He's a better option than Richard, outside of that, we have nobody.
-
Hey Oz, thats why AJ shouldnt f***ing hit 2nd. Learn from the games please.

QUOTE (oralsoxpodcast @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) Is there any doubt that if Paulie returns as quickly as they suggest he will have lost his swing and will go back to pop outs, fly outs and strikeouts? I'm not a Paulie hater, but really doesn't that seem about right? With him alot of it is mental, which I hope means he will still think he can get when he gets back. Alot of this season he was trying to narrow his hitting focus, jam himself, and go to right field. He needs to relax and put the barrel on the ball.

QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) No, I've never heard of getting the bottom of ones foot shaved. At no time during a professional pedicure does something that would shave anything touch the bottom of the foot. That is not normal, or right I think. Sure they do, they use that vegetable peeler thing on the rough parts of your heel.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread

I just read that the Bears waived Kirk Barton so they could bring in Fred Miller. How f***ing stupid is that? -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) As obvious as it was how pathetic the NL is when the Cubs were winning, it's even more obvious when they are losing. They've lost almost everyday for a week and a half now, and pretty much nothing has happened to their division/playoff leads. Outside of the cubs, I dont think there is an NL team that could beat an AL team in the world series.

Kyle Orton To Start The Season For Da Bears

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) Why would Orton's wife be mad that another woman thinks her husband is attractive? Or a better question, since women are not the most rational of creatures, why should she be mad? Or is it because he was dancing. Yawn. I'm so glad my wife and me don't have these kinds of arguments. +1 Couples who have those kind of fights spend life 80 percent miserable. -
Ill revamp the lineup like this if Paulie is out and if he is in 1. Jason B-whatev CF 2. OC SS 3. Dye-RF 4. Thome DH 5. Alexei-2B 6. Griff LF 7. AJP-C 8-Swish 1B 9. Uribe Or we can go with a poor man'sTwins-slap hitting offense aka sucky offense 1. Owens LF 2. OC-SS 3. Thome-DH 4. Dye-RF 5. Alexei-2B 6. AJP-C 7. Swish 1B 8 Uribe 3B 9. Bourgeois-CF Or the ol-stand by 1. OC 2. AJP 3. DYe 4. Thome 5 Alexei 6 Griff 7. Swish 8. BA 9 Uribe

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:31 PM) So now i basically f***ed everything up. I hooked up with a girl last night, and i just told her about it. I guess that was pretty wrong to do, but if she didnt really have the feelings i had for her why should she feel so upset about it? But she's just told me that everything is over between us. Wow, just f***. So, you are letting her control you now? This is how girls control guys. She told you its over and got emotional, now you feel like what you did was wrong. First of all, dont tell her what you are doing. Dont tell her WHO you are doing. Do you think she would tell you about her walk of shame she did last weekend? Have your fun, do the college thing, hook up with her during summer break, then maybe after school when you are older something will happen. Odds are you will meet someone even better at school if you keep an open mind and dont let a girl a state away pull your leash and make you heel.

And Oz didnt help there, taking the bat out of the hands of your best batter with RISP? Not a very good move at all. -

Once again, we are facing a team that is red hot, they get alot of things to go their way, calls by the ump, bunts, wind. Thats just how it is. we needed to steal that one. -

Indicative of a team thats on fire, 2 out base hits and RBI's, hitting sinking pitches into the OF, having a guy with bad control almost no-hit the other team. They have everything going their way right now. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) Gotta laugh at AJP getting pr for by Owens. I guess Ozzie hasn't realized he could have just ph for AJP and have someone bunt. I'm pretty sure that Bouregois is a fantastic bunter. He's better than AJ, s*** Jerry is better than AJ. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) An .814 career OPS makes you a productive offensive player. But there is a big difference between a good hitter and a productive offensive player. Adam Dunn is a very productive offensive player, but he's a mediocre hitter, and on the other side, Juan Pierre is a very good hitter, but not a productive offense player between the lack of power and all the caught stealings. So being a good hitter means you have to make some sort of contact on the ball even though you dont really have the ability to see the location of the ball nor have the discipline of being able to lay off bad pitches? Hmmmm Or is it just BA with you? regardless of OBP or SLG? -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Magic 8 ball. Remember in 05 he had Everett just doing nothing in the 3 hole up until a few weeks before the playoffs, then he made the change. I dont think he will make the change right now. Ramirez up top would be nice right now. That team didnt have a ton of options in that spot, but that does seem to be on the same plane. I mean, AJ completely sucks in the 2-hole, he is a much better hitter down the order for this team.
