9/9: White Sox vs Blue Jays, DH G1: 1:05, CSN
RockRaines replied to Kalapse's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) He's a career .246 hitter. He has a track record of drawing walks and hitting for power, but he has no such record of being a good "hitter". Isnt have a .800+ OPS over your career clasify you as being a good hitter. Walking is just as much of a skill as flaring a broken bat single. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) I was eating lunch but I got back into the thread just to see the reactions to AJ's bunt . Priceless. Crap I can't beleive they turned that DP on a slow roller. Did Thome walk to 1st ? Pretty much, there is NO way they should have been able to turn that. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Burnett, Sheets and Harden are huge health/head case risks that will cost a few bucks after CC cleans someone out. He is a health risk, but I think less than the other two. This season he will go over 200 IP, he had 165 last season 135 the year before and 209 the year before that. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:14 AM) Wow. My Raiders still suck. Maybe next year. Well at least Russell has a giant arm. Fargas looked good. Yeah that about it I think. -
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 11:21 PM) ha, been there plenty, actually signed on to go there but pulled out in favor of WMU at the last minute....just making a joke at the large percentage of hippy chicks...not trying to take anything away from the "whoreness" of the girls at your school... fixed

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 01:04 AM) When I read how many doctors were to be in the room for CQ surgery ... ain't no way he'll be back this year. We'll be lucky to get him for spring training. I agree Joe is done. Sad story bout his back. He'll definately be back for spring training. He should be fine in the winter. -

Official How Many Games Will the Sox Win Thread

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 08:07 AM) Im going to remain my usual optimistic self and say the Sox go 92-70 and surprise everyone. Slam me if you please, I dont really care to argue, I just would rather hope that they are going to do well than dwell on thinking that they are gonna suck. I have a similar feeling to this year that i had in 2005, i dont know whats going to happen, but I dont have a sinking feeling about the season like I did last year. duuuude -
Where is this mystical part of Mexico that is filled with super hot horny women all the time, oh and jet skis. Everytime I go to mexico all I see is dudes selling silver crap, fat tourists getting their hair braided, and knock off american food disguised by a mexican name.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) Coffee, Cotton, OJ, Cocoa, Sugar, the US dollar index, and the Russell 2000 index. They had massive systems problems this morning, and it has been a nightmare all day afterwards. (dials phone, calls CIO)

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) Honestly there is no advice for this. You go through it, you learn from it, and you move on. It is soooooo rare that first love and teenage love goes past your 20's, you meet different people and find other people in your life who can fill that void. I had almost this exact same thing happen to me when I went to SIU, I thought the world was ending, and I got over it and moved on. It sucked, but it happens. Long distance relationships just dont work. (insert obligatory NIU STD reference) Ya, everyone goes through it. I even made the mistake of keeping my long distance relationship for too long in college, which I wish I could go back and change. Honestly, you change so much from age 18-30 that it so hard to know if you will even like the girl as you get older.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 06:57 AM) Apparently Wood got mad at Jolbert Cabrera for celebrating too much after a game winning hit. Wood must not pay attention to his teammates when they play at home too much, they celebrate pretty much everything that happens. I've never seen a team pose so much after HR's than this cubs team. All they do is flip bats, strike poses, jump for catches and thank god for everything. Take a good look at any Soriano HR or Ramirez HR.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 12:40 AM) Was at the game- it was unbelieveable. Forte is a special player and I loved the pick (either wanted him or Brohm), Orton was good, the DL was relentless, and the OL was giving Forte craters to run through. I feel damn good about this team moving forward. Good blocking from the o-line for once, but Forte and also Kevin Jones, have better vision for those hole than Benson had. Also Forte has that burst once he gets through the hole that the last hmmm 5 or so RB's we've had havent possessed. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) You said he was washed up. Now you want him batting 4th. You're Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly all mashed into one. If I was a nerd and really knew what you were trying to say, Im sure I would be very hurt by your comments. Its pretty simple: 2 year slump, cant hit, sit on the bench. Hitting, getting hot, hitting for power, move up the order. Im a White Sox fan, I want the best players on the field. Hence why I started a positive Paulie thread and also have had him in my avatar for months.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 09:12 PM) Wow! We win 10-2; they win 10-2. My god the Twins go home and kick some butt after that lousy road trip of theirs. To all the Paulie bashers ... do you feel a little stupid right now? Do you admit he's been on a nice roll of late? Congrats Paulie on getting the BA up to .245. Not bad for somebody many fans wanted flushed down the drain. Go SOX!!! Why would anyone feel stupid when a player was as bad as he was. Anyone who said he was terrible was 100 percent correct, he was terrible. Thank god its only taken him 2 seasons to snap out of it.

please Uribe, dont go back to your regular self, stay hot, please please stay hot. And I would like Konerko back in the clean up spot.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) I'll say what I've said before. Cowley's trying to be the new Marriotti. He's been doing that for awhile, he's done many things that have hurt his credibility, especially with his peers. And its all about pitching folks, we pitch, we win. And Junior, this is your last shot, your entire career could be capped off by this year if you make it happen.
-
QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Like I said earlier this type of injury could kill Quentin's power and turn him into a doubles hitter, after a season in which he performs horribly after trying to hit home runs, he'd probably have to try to be a contact hitter. That really sucks. There is a great possibility that this year will turn out to be the best of his career. Look at Derrek Lee from the other side of town: when he hurt his wrist, his power disappeared. This is a repost, but I'm throwing it out there again. That makes close to zero sense, I guess Longoria wont have any power either?
-
I love how its "seriously" injured on the page, like he had a heart attack or a massive fracture of his back. He a beast and tweaked his wrist a little. If he's out for a few weeks healing, you move the order around, move Paulie up, put Swish or Griff in LF and BA patrols center. Lets finish strong.
