  1. So its a pretty big debate on the Bucknuts forums right now and I figured I'd bring it over here to gauge the opinions on Soxtalk. Basically alot of posters are making a big deal out of some fans booing Todd Boekman when he went in for a few plays for Pryor against Troy. They are talking about how no teams boo players and how classless it is to boo such a hard working player. Outlawing booing? Seems kinda weird to me. Booing is a huge part of sports and is actually a very toned down response to bad play from years ago where things were a bit more extreme. Your guys thoughts on booing players in college football?
  2. I will have an auction for my first round tickets iF they clinch.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) I've been really considering getting a mac and for some reason can only finds arguments for Macintosh. So what are the key advantages for PCs? I always hear compatibility issues, but since now Macs now come with the ability to run both platforms, that isn't necessarily viable any longer. Unless you are designing graphics, editing movies or something of the such, then a PC is a better fit for you as they do just about everything else better than a Mac. I've had both and have both and PC's are just overall better machines for both my business and personal life. Even just basic web surfing is easier on my PC.
  4. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) No It's Always Sunny... discussion? 'HAHAHAHAHA, Racooooon meat, BULLs***"
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) Random, but most Bear fans are cut from the same cloth as Cub fans, just not very smart people. I don't say that in regards to the Bear fans here, as it seems like all of us have proper perspective. But it seems like the vast majority of the Bear fans you hear on ESPN and The Score are the "dumb meatheads" Boers and Bernstein make fun of. My favorite is everybody saying how bad Tampa Bay is, which is pretty funny. They've won the NFC South two of the last three years, and will be right near the top again this season with Carolina (New Orleans is going nowhere with that defense). I just figured I'd bring that up because I'm tired of talking about the game itself. I'm glad none of the meathead, dumb Bear fans have infiltrated this thread at least. Well prob around 50 percent of Bears fans are Cubs fans, so there you go. Either way, the Bears are better than TB, they just let it slip away, and the refs didnt help much either. But, s***, Forte is a STUD
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 06:34 AM) I didn't see this anywhere else, did you guys see that the Cubs clinched the division? I laughed so hard when I saw them running around the field spraying fans with champagne. Thats what you do when you win the World Series.
  7. Honestly, if BA plays everyday I think you see the player we thought we had in 06.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 11:21 PM) Texas took the lead with 8 seconds left on a 4th down conversion so no, you're wrong. I still think they gave them more trouble or at least equal. VY didnt have to pull out that crazy TD run, but had to convert to keep OSU's defense on the field, which wouldnt have been neccesary if Hamby would have caught the damn TD. They kept them to their lowest point total all season and they only won by 3. Both games were very good. Frankly keeping Troy Smith out of the game was really a deciding factor.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) I think college football has been down since the USC/Texas title game. I think both those teams would have beaten the past two national champions. Actually OSU gave Texas more trouble than USC did that year. OSU would have won the game if it wasnt for a dropped TD by Hamby.
  10. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 08:07 AM) The problem with that concept is their previous recruiting classes were all very good too, with plenty of highly rated players who don't seem to be cutting it now. Who's to say these new "phenoms" (as a group) will fare any better?? Actually, the classes that are most of the upperclassmen now werent even top 10 classes. Two #12's and a #15 were what are playing now. Boone and Beanie were highly rated, the rest were not. Little Animal was a 2 star LB. The classes now are pushing for a #1 ranking with top talent from all over the country.
  11. And the Bucks roll. Pryor with 4 passing TD's. That kid is going to be good. The o-line finally looked decent with 2 true freshman starting. It appears this will begin the changing of the guard.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) Pryor reminds me so much of Vince Young. Too bad the talent around Pryor isn't even close to what VY had at Texas. He has a better arm, and give it some time, some of the talent is already there, some is on the way. See the true freshman at C, RT, QB, and WR? This freshman class, plus the highly rated next one will build the team around him.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) Perhaps my expectations for that show are way too high but I wasn't as thrilled with the 2 episodes last night as much as I wanted to be. They definitely had some laugh out loud moments though. The gorilla mask had me rolling. The second one had me in hysterics. Watch them again.
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) Apparently Z had his grandmother die last night and it sounds like he went to see her and flew back for the game. And the internet is responsible for his arm troubles.
  15. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Isn't Lee older than Konerko by a small amount. I think he was nice player but cubville wants him to be Pujols. I didn't realize Zambrano was beat up that much. It would be typical cub fashion that he go down and they lose and the story be his no-hitter not that he pitched unnecessarily. Yes he is older than Kong.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/leede02.shtml Intereting, I never looked at Lee's numbers before. Yeah his '05 OPS + was about 50 points higher than his career average and about 40 points higher than his second highest seasons. Also his RC/G avg that year was about 4 runs greater than his career average. He's is still a solid player, especially with the sick defense he plays He is a very similar player to Konerko actually.
  17. Oh and on the OSU front, it looks like freshman are starting to crack the starting lineup. Looks like JB shugarts will play at RT, Brewster at C and Pryor at QB.
  18. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) OK OK...I know its quite ridic....There are things about being an alum from CU that bother me about the fans. I can say they are not the best in the world. They rush the field after any moderatly big win I blame it on that stupid ramp they have in the endzone, it just makes it that much easier to do it. and honesly enough with "They're all high" crap about CU...every other big college in this nation has a high percentage of marijuana smokers, and honestly I would rather have people smokin weed than the thousands of frat boys at Illinois that get drunk and destructive. But give the football team some credit yea Bill Stewert is an idiot, but CU has made some huge strides. We should have won that game 24-14. CU made some stupid plays on offense and that missed INT would have gone for 6. 2 years and they are going to be right in the thick of it. First of all, there is nothing negative about the quantity of the people smoking pot at CU, secondly they have some of the bet quality s*** around the nation anyway, so thats a HUGE positive. And in conclusion, if everyone in the crowd WERE high, no way in hell they rush the field, most likely they rush the concession stand or just max and relax in their seats while watching the idiots waste energy running down stairs.
  19. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) For what it's worth, I talked with one of the Barons players off the clock and he said that the White Sox organization was "different" and didn't mean it in a good way. He knew he was better off with another organization he had been with. "The White Sox only like guys who throw hard, they don't care about ones who can pitch." Those are some loaded statements in my opinion. I cannot say who said that out of respect to the player. But, I appreciate his honesty. Another good guy in the system who will get screwed. SOunds more like sour grapes than truth. The Sox spent the better part of the last few years drafting college "pitchers" instead of projectable power arms.
  20. Its a good debate, but it all comes back to the fact she's an idiot.
  21. My mom made mine when I was a kid, Im sure it was cheaper than buying the overpriced crap they have on sale today. And for older people, why go to a store and buy a pre-packaged outfit? Put some f***ing thought into it, go to a resale shop, look in your closet for f***s sake.
  22. This group of cubs players all of a sudden feel entitled to special treatment, by both the umps and the other team. I've never seen so much arguing, bat flipping, complaining from the north side. Professional and good guy players like DLEE have taken a back seat to some of these a-holes.
  23. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) Cubs were down 6-2 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out and have come all the way back. The Brewers suck. They wont make the playoffs.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) I've always thought that if it got bad I could get a transplant. I sure hope they work. My dad is bald on top, but his brother and father isn't. My mom's father also had a full head of brown hair till he died at age 75. I don't know what is in store for me. You should be fine, its your mom's father that is usually the indicator, although it could of skipped him. And some of the newer transplants are done in such a way that they are very unnoticeable.
  25. The cubs have been pretty avg at home after their torrid start.
