QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) doesnt USC play at OSU next year? If so, then I hope they dont meet in a bowl game. It'll just be overkill. Yes, its a home and home series. I believe we also get Navy as well. In 2010 we get your Canes for the beginning of a home and home. -
QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Rock, Anywhere in the West Loop that you'd say to look? Any areas around there to avoid? Just make sure you stay east of Ashland and you should be ok. There are a TON of places both for sale and rent in the area right now. The winter months are when people start to get desperate.

Do something with yourself this fall and winter seasons.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 06:41 PM) I saute the onions in olive oil at the beginning of the process. Then add the rice and saute until the rice turns a little tan. Then I start the stock infusions. I finish with cheese right at the end. The other variations I enjoy are sea food with Gulf wild caught shrimp. And cilantro, got to have cilantro Cilantro is easily my favorite herb to cook with. A little cilantro and lime goes a long way with alot of dishes.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Microwaving the chicken before grilling works for me. When it comes to the steak, microwave it afterwards. NEVER microwave a steak. Come on Knight. What Tex said was right, you want to give the meat some color on direct heat, then cook it through with indirect. For Charcoal grills you can do this by piling the coals on one side and placing a metal tray under where you want the meat to go so it can cook it its own juices.

Comcast's signal quality is better, its not as pixelated. Also they have more HD channels (real channels that you can watch) and OnDemand owns all.

Seriously though, Baldelli should never be considered an option for trade. The guy can only play 2-3 times a week.

QUOTE (Shadows @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) 1. Yes, I think the Big 10 is better than the Pac 10 2. No, it doesn't mean Penn State is better than USC. Just because im trashing Ohio State and you are a bitter fan doesn't mean that's what I said. 3. I hope USC plays Ohio State again so Ohio State can get their ass kicked, AGAIN. However, I don't even know if they can even win the Big 10 so that might not even matter. 4. No need to be sorry about it, its not a jealous hate since they choke in all their big games anyways.. its just more of a, im not a fan of them hate. And IM bitter? And when you say they lose all of their big games, I assume you are talking about this group of upperclassmen? The buckeyes as a program have been winnig big games long before you were swimming around in your daddy's testicles so I wouldnt think you were referring to the program as a whole. Either way I'll take 1 or 2 loss seasons all day long. And I'd love another shot at USC with the Big Ten's best player back and the top freshman behind center. -

QUOTE (Shadows @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) The best thing about all of this is how bad it makes Ohio State look Penn State beat Oregon State by like 30 earlier in the year Man I hate Ohio State Therefore PSU must be better than USC, which means the Big Ten must be better than the Pac-10, right????????? And actually OSU fans are happy about USC losing, because it could give us another shot at them. Sorry about your hatred. -
The attitude on this board sucks right now

Jermaine Dye and Jim Thome really disapeared when this team needed them most. Dye looks like a below avg player. -

The Twins are playing at home, vs KC. Its just about over. They have a TON of momentum. Our team isnt really that good at the moment. We had a badly timed road trip, and Q's injury sunk us. And I think I just saw Jamie Burke get run over by Torii Hunter -

Dammit, wrong OSU -
Its bad, the Twins squeak out wins on concrete, the umps give them runs and we all of a sudden cant pitch at all. With a healthy Crede and Quentin, we run away with this division. At least my playoff payment goes towards my tickets next season.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) I want to go back to Oklahoma. That was unreal. I'm going to Nebraska in 9 days, so we'll see how that compares. I've heard Ole Miss is spectacular for the Grove. I want to go to the Big House badly. I second the Ole Miss desire. The big house...quietest big stadium you'll ever go to. -

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Muchas gracias Rock. Definitely heard some good things about Lincoln Square from a friend. I'm really going to have to check that out. P.S. How you enjoying the west loop area? IM actually exploring bigger places in my area right now cause its just such a convenience for people who work from home, commute to the burbs and work in the loop all at the same time. Plus they are building one of Redford's movie theaters. Lincoln square is the balls though, the german places are sweet and there are some good dives. Alot of character up there, and TONS of parks.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Nearly everyone is slumping. Try this lineup tomorrow, the worst it can do is have the same results as the previous 2 games. 2B Ramirez SS Cabrerra CF Griffey DH Thome 1B Konerko RF Dye LF Swisher C Pierzynski 3B Uribe f*** that, they've had their chance. I want my sunday lineup. 1.Owens LF 2. OC SS 3. Thome DH 4. Konerko 1B 5. Alexei 2B 6. Swish RF 7. AJP C 8. BA CF 9. Fields/Uribe 3B

Its time for stopper Floyd to show up. I saw Q practicing hitting in the dugout...

I dont understand why they boo a player who meant so much to their franchise. He brought them division titles, was traded, then signed as a free agent with basically the only team that offered him. It would be like Sox fans booing Rowand when he returned. It wasnt AJ's fault he was traded, and he actually brought them a hell of a haul. What is their problem?

I would like to see BA in the game at some point. I love how hawk and DJ criticize the Twins for pitching in, and then they get out of it. Good call Hawk -
QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) Any suggestions for happening areas close to the Kennedy so I can drive to work fairly easily? I work in Schaumburg btw. SO you basically commute north on 90 so I would recommend a neighborhood up near that part of the highway so you dont have to deal with as much 94 as people who live closer to the city. My recommendation up there would be somewhere around Lincoln Square. Its an old German part of town which is now just really cleaning up and becoming a great place for all ages to live. its still somewhat affordable and has a ton of parks/recreation areas as well as cool restaurants and things to do. Its also right by the blue line/brown line and the highway.

QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:07 AM) I'm 26 and work in the northeast corner of the loop (Michigan and Lake). Being near Metra/CTA is very important. I'd also like to live somewhere where driving isn't a huge pain in the ass (like driving downtown is), on the odd occasion I have to drive somewhere. Being near the lake would be very nice, but isn't necessary. I'd like to live somewhere relatively quiet, but close to restaurants and things to do (besides going to bars all the time). So. You have some options there. CTA basically streches all over the city north and south and a little west. For your work location you can pretty much grab any line and get there since its basically on the actual loop route of the brown/purple/red. Where I live you could walk to work in about 10 min if need be. We are the same age and I like my neighborhood and the southloop and even old town because it tends to be a little older crowd, a little cleaner, with ALOT less people compared to LIncoln Park and Lakeview. I am also near both major highways (1 min to each) and the metra/amtrak stations. Its also a short bus ride (20 route) to the lake or to the park, or even the museums and the art institute. I really liked Wicker and Bucktown until it started getting really crowded a la Lincoln Park, to the point where you cant park anywhere and driving is a total hassle. A little further west is better, near Uke Village. You should basically take a drive around the areas and see what you like. For me, commuting to the loop and the burbs was a neccessity, so my 6 min commute (walk) to work was a huge bonus, not to mention the ease of getting around in my neighborhood as well as getting to other areas of the city. For example, it take me about 10 min to get to the Cell, and about 5-6 to get to the south loop.

First question: How old are you, and what do you want to be near? Is it important to be near nightlife? Commuting? The Lake?
