Rudy of course when he gets the sack. World Trade Center when they pull Nick Cage out of the rubble. The faces they show in shadows really makes you think about even though with all the bad that happened in the events, there were some really good people out there who risked their lives to pull out the 20 survivors they found in the heaps of metal and concrete. For day, weeks and months people in this country stopped thinking about themselves and really started to give back to the 2800+ who were hurt by this awful tragedy.

I personally think that the people who decide "well we are now ONE" once they get married are usually the ones who change most of who they are in their life, and also are the ones who somewhat cut themselves off from their friends that arent in the "ring club." As for me, if I ever decided to cross that stream, I would never only have one account, because I need money too, and I dont think the type of girl I would marry would want to give up all of her financial independence either.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) I'm posting this in response to Rock's comments last page as well. I hope you didnt get the impression that I am sitting there wondering why the team dumps the puck at all, or wondering why those guys hit the puck to the other team then run towards their bench. Savvy brought a much better forecheck to the Hawks when he started, but his offensive philosophy is very simple and also somewhat passe. He never stressed possession in the neutral zone, instead focusing on getting the puck as deep as possible at every chance. This team has both great shooters and skaters and never really used their talents to their advantage in the offensive zone. His power play was atrocious and his constant shuffling of the lines would halt all chemistry between the players. This would all have been a minor problem if his offensive strategy was geared towards his team's strengths. I think you will begin to see that although their forecheck will be very similar to what Savvy used, they will be able to hit more trailers and streakers out of a dump situation under Q. -

QUOTE (thedoctor @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) i will say that penn state is not going to beat ohio state. penn state has been a nice story thus far but they've played no one. ohio state's win over michigan state trumps any of penn state's wins. I disagree with you, in fact I would be surprised if OSU wins the game. If PSU goes up early, the Bucks are toast. Pryor is a man among boys on the field at times, but he is still a freshman and would have to continue to improve a bunch by the game to be able to air it out on a constant basis. Of course if they pull an MSU and decide to go up by 3 scores early on PSU it could be a different game. -

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 19, 2008 -> 01:38 AM) The fun part is whoever wins the Big 12 north(kansas or mizzou) will get the luxury of playing Texas again. Yikes. The Big 12 is scary in itself. Offense, offense and more offense. I watched the Bucks game again this morning, wow, stiff arm bonanza. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) Also, impressive win for Ohio State. Michigan State is STILL a joke in big games, and Ohio State is still going to lose to Penn State next week in Columbus, but the Buckeyes deserve credit for their performance today. Its called getting punched in the mouth. MSU got jacked. PSU didnt looked too good tonight. And mizzou better drop to 15-20. OSU dropped to 14 after the beat down from the #1 team in the country. -

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) I thought Maddon managed this game horrible. I agreed with Starting Kazmir, but what the hell is he doing bringing in his closer in the seventh? Why not bring in Howell then go to Wheeler, the way he's been doing it all year. No idea. But that pen was also due for a blow up. They had been hot of late, but their pen is still a bunch of no-names with zero closer. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Gavin just needs to work on his move and winup, simple as that. There are plenty of guys slow to plate like Gavin, but they have made ajustments to combat base runners. Mixing up the time of his set, using an array of steps: slide step, normal, in-between, showing different pickoff moves. What Gavin needs to do is watch other guys and how they combat base runners or work with a pitching guru on stuff like this. Gavin can really help his ERA by holding on base runenrs better. As bad as AJ throws, he usually has no chance when Gavin is throwing to him. Heres the thing with Gavin. He needs a very structured and quiet windup to have any sense of control. He cant really throw out of different balance points and hurried windups. This is why he will always be terrible vs the run. But there are alot of successful pitchers that could never hold a runner on, Maddux is one that comes to mind.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) Fitz is my fav receiver in the NFL by far. All the talent in the world and NOT a big mouth is refreshing. Brandon Marshall is climbing up there for me. He seems to be a full effort guy on every snap. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) When you get fired like this, your love of the organization probably goes away for a while. I am giving all the credit in the world to Savard here. His interviews on the subject have been nothing but respectful and classy.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) Manny has had the luxury of playing for better teams than ARod. The Mariners became a power. The Rangers were and are awful. Its because of Manny the Indians became winners? You do know the Indians won the AL Central the year Manny left? They also had guys like Colon, Lofton, Belle, Thome, Alomar, Vizquel over the years. It was all Manny the Red Sox won? How come it didn't happen right away? And if it was all him, how in the world did the Red Sox make the playoffs without him this year. The Dodgers won 84 games. Its not like that is some outstanding team. They were 30-25 with Manny, a decent record, but not eye popping. ARod gets slammed because of the Mariners season after he left, but how far did they advance in the playoffs? The year ARod left and his last season, the Mariners lost in the ALCS. Texas had a better record without him, but really are you going to the credit that to his not being on the team? If anyone thinks a 36 year old meathead, albeit a great hitter when he wants to be, is more valuable than a guy who probably will go down as the greatest player ever, you might be as nuts as Manny. At least with ARod, you can always count on him giving his best effort. So you agree with me that A-rod is worth more?

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) I hate the Red Sox, but I gotta say, SUCK ON THAT, BALFOUR, YOU ASS! Absolutely. And a TON of Red Sawks fans left before the comeback, sucks to be them. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 04:38 PM) Similar offensively. Defensively, no contest. ARod could still probably play SS at least as well as Manny can play LF. The title of the thread was who was more valuable. Its amazing how many nauseating "Manny being Manny" moments are forgotten because some guy forced his way off a team that paid him handsomely and treated him well and went to play for a contract with a team located by his agent, Scott Boras, and was awesome. Sorry, you'll never get that Manny for a whole season if he's signed for multiple years anymore. A-rod is one of the best players ever, Manny is one of the best RH hitters ever. There is definately a difference. Of course Manny also has had the ability to get on team and make them winners, and A-rod seems to have the opposite effect.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) um, I believe you forgot one 5. His name is Danks, and that is an adjective to describe good marijuana. well played my friend. Of course I also like the fact I've had him in my sig for almost his entire MLB career.

Remember Keith Law's preseason report on Floyd?
RockRaines replied to scenario's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He threw some of the nastiest curveballs baseball saw in this past season. His game against the Tigers shows this very clearly. And Keith Law, although sometimes a very good source of info, is very frequently off on his prospect details. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) So Joe the plumber isn't a licensed plumber. Doesn't make $250k a year and isn't even registered to vote. Why does that make me laugh out loud. How come Eric the electrician doesnt get any national love?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) He's not elite until he consistently pitches into the 8th inning. However, I f***ing love him, and he's close to that. There are several things that are great about Danks, and here is just a few that I REALLY like: 1. His determination to be successful. There are many talented pitchers that come up to the majors and completely stall with their development. Danks was up a year early last season and in the offseason decided that he needed to makes changes to be successful. He seeked out help to develop another pitch, he spent more time analyzing every one of his starts the previous season, and took it upon himself to not stand still with his talent. 2. His ice cold demeanor on the mound. Danks has shown already at a young age that he is capable of taking on the weight of the team and going out and taking the ball. There are few young pitchers out there that show this ability at such a young age. 3. His "aloof" personality. Even the guys in the locker room have stated that they have a high level of confidence in Danks even in pressure situations. They have said several times that they dont think it bothers him and that in turn gives the players alot of confidence for that game. He is almost Buehrle like in this sense. 4. His love for the White Sox. I honestly feel like he helped get his brother signed this past draft, and that he is one of those guys that will be around for many many years and WILL take hometown discounts. This guy fits perfectly on the south side of Chicago.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) One thing I will say is I hope the new coach can help improve the power play strategy. I never liked it under Savard. It's really a shame they had to fire a organizational legend like this, and the timing of it is a bit strange, but it seemed like this was coming. I honestly didnt like much of his offensive strategy. Even during our win last night, I felt like Phx had better control of the neutral zone and had more effective rushes in our zone. I would really like to see our PP a little more like the Wings.

McCain comes off to me like a sour old man who at times doesnt know where he is or what happened with his shoes. I just dont see him inspiring people the way I hope candidates do. Its been awhile since a Presidential Candidate has given the American people hope. And picking an absolute retard as his running mate was not a wise decision. Either way im still loyal to my green party, better environment and legalized marijuana. Quick edit: When is the last time a President had such awful yellow teeth?

And I wish Scotty Bowman wasnt 200 years old, otherwise he would be a great replacement.
