QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) Ganolfino stole that movie. true romance as well.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) AND he'd have to cut his hair due to team rules, and thusly he'd be way cool again. Back when I had my season tickets in the bleachers, I have fond memories of Maggs constantly hitting the ball into the gap in front of my seats in section 160.
  3. Maggs is just so much better of a hitter than alot of what we have in our lineup now. He would be an unreal DH. He would be a GREAT player to hit behind Q. in Xbox terms, lets say alot of the trades mentioned on here come to fruition, plus maybe a few weird ones. 1. Figgins 3B (2B) 2. Lexi SS 3. Q LF 4. Maggs DH 5. Dye RF 6. Swish 1B 7. AJP C 8. Atkins 2B (3B) 9. insert your CF here I dont know, something of the sort.
  4. Betamax was proprietary, Laser Disk didnt have the ease of use like VHS tapes nor DVD's. Blu-ray has the advantage of some of the population already having the Television technology to take advantage of the format. Also chains like Blockbuster are already getting behind blu ray. Also blu ray players are backwards compatible with DVD's which all the other technologies above didnt have.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) One big risk is if Swisher now is what he showed and has another bad year in 2009, his "affordable" contract becomes an albatross. Owed $6.75 million in 2010, $9 million in 2011 and a $12 million option in 2012 with a buyout. Unless you open up a spot in the OF or 1b where he can play everyday, if the rest of the league still thinks he's affordable and willing to give something up for him, I think KW should trade him. But you have to take the risk that he has a good year and then you get better value if you want to unload him. Its a balance between whether you think unloading him after giving him only one chance vs unloading him after he has multiple chances. Right now, it just makes sense for the org to keep him to either contribute or increase his value, but Im not sure if it makes sense for the TEAM to keep him. Also Im not sure by 2012 that 12 million will be more than a slightly above avg player salary.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Now that I think of it, this is exactly the type of movie that they'll probably show on the flight tomorrow. It's never anything I'm dying to see. Funny offshoot story. When I was traveling almost 200k miles a year, I burned and watched alot of movies on my laptop. Usually i am in my own world zoned out because I hate flying, but I packed American Psycho for one of my flights, and as I am watching the chainsaw scene, a lady behind me taps on my shoulder and tells me to turn off the movie because its making her sick. 1. I never realized other people watch the movies I was watching 2. How can you not like that scene? Weird. Needless to say, I put a little more thought into the movies I packed on flights from then on.

Zohan: Pretty funny. Not what I expected. The Strangers: Not Scary
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) I'm not looking at it in hindsight, I'm looking at it from the time the trade was made. Obviously looking back now, it was a steal, but Garcia was a valued commodity. This is a dumb argument anyways, so I'm done with it. They were all more or less only steals in hindsight. ALOT of people hated unloading BMAC.
  9. From what I understand: They were trying to put another source of income over near the "smokers" area of the park. Since so many people are having to walk down to that outside part of the park, why not put something over there for them to do.
  10. Here's something else as well: When Parkman's dad was killed, it made the african guy's painting of the Villain's not true, unless his death was a mind trick kind of like parkman's was. There is still one other face in that painting that we havent been introduced to yet.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) Banging? For real? I dont know if that sarcatic or not, but yes, they are dating (boning)
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) We may be hesitant to trade Kirk because of the role he fills, the backup point guard...but I have a simple response to that...you're paying him $11 million a year to be a backup point guard. In a capped league, that just isn't practical over anything but the shortest terms. Well to be honest, he is more than just the backup. He is insurance against injury as well as the rookie wall. As a plus, if Kirk goes back to what he once was, he is a decent back court partner with Rose against teams with smaller guards. He is a bit overpriced, but he is a pretty valuable asset mostly because of the drop off behind him in that role.
  13. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) Sets of brothers I would rather have running Illinois instead of the Daleys: The Hanson Brothers The Smothers Brothers The Osmond Brothers The Hudson Brothers The Valiant Brothers (I'd prefer Handsome Jimmy and Luscious Johnny, but will accept Gentleman Jerry) The Coen Brothers The Wayans Brothers Do you live in Chicago? The city wouldnt be half as good as it is without the Daley's. Alot of the resurgence of residential development and cleaning up of bad areas of the city is also a great thing Daley has been a part of. I wouldnt want anyone else in charge of the city thats for sure. As far as Illinois, the state needs someone who A. Will actually live in Springfield, and B. Actually knows there is more to the state than just Chicago.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) Meh. That line at the end where she says "Yeah, well I woulda f***ed him too" was ubber-lame. Sorry, not believable in the slightest that she would do any of that with Turtle. It would have been much more believable if the hand job would have happened an episode or two down the line after they got to know each other. Yeah, so you know she's banging him in real life right? Im not so sure Jerry is that different from Turtle.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) Don't forget Jenks. He's probably been asked to leave a few buffets in the past. We already have the heaviest team in the majors by avg weight I believe. Why not add some more?
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) Excellent post, couldn't agree more. Prince Fielder could be had, he is a better 1B that Swish. Then we could easily have the All-Star Buffet eating team of Uribe and Prince.
  17. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) To each his own, my friend. Exactly. Flash, Charlie is probably the funniest guy on the show, and his rants are a HUGE part of that. DD is also hilarious. Some people didnt like Seinfeld because it had no plot.....
  18. Im hesitant to trade Kirk at this point. He is a perfect 2nd team PG and looked like he had more energy than recent seasons. I was hoping Kirk would blossom being on the second unit and get close to the Kirk of old that used to carry this team.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:42 AM) Am I the only person on earth that has thought that this has been an interesting series? And that the Phillies have played at a semi-high level and the Rays just won't go away? You may be. I see a shell of the team that was the Rays, and a Phillies team that cannot bring in runners, but are winning mostly based on the ineptitude of their competition.
  20. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) And that doesn't sound like an awful lot of rookie pitchers to you? John Danks last year for example had that problem and he still had it this year to a lesser extent. I'm not saying Richard will end up a starter but to have confined him to a bullpen role based on what we've seen in 8 starts of his rookie year is absurd. Not really. Danks has always had a plus curve and has a better arm slot to face both righties and lefties. Richard's arm slot, sink and delivery is absolutely perfect in a relief role. Alot of his success is based on his deception, his sink, and his ability to change speeds on his fastball. He is a great arm to send out there for maybe one time through the lineup. This is where he is probably most valuable to the Sox. And if you are looking at comparing him to a player coming up, I would say Neal Cotts. Cotts was a starter being brought up and even started the futures game in chicago. He also lacked a dominant secondary pitch, and since then has been a successful (for the most part) pen arm.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) Runs scored is usually based on what others do especially when you are a guy who doesn't steal. RBI, at least you are the one doing the damage. I said it before, Swisher's walks aren't as valuable when he's batting 7th or 8th and has the worst hitters in the line-up trying to drive him in. The thing I wonder about is Swisher's home/road splits. June was a great month for him. The Sox were in Chicago most of the time. He hit below .200 with very little power on the road for the season. Makes you wonder about why? I dont think there is any conspiracy theory behind Swish's bad year. He had an off year, tinkered with his swing, it made it worse, and then struggled trying to break out of it. He had a bad year, thats the end of it. He is a valuable hitter in this lineup if we have more contact and high batting avg guys around him, unfortunately, this wasnt the case this year and he stunk. I look for a nice rebound next season and hopefully better and more productive hitters around him.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) I'm just going to say very quickly that I don't understand how Gavin Floyd was "stolen." He had fallen out of favor in Philadelphia and was included with a talented pitcher who had stunk in AA the year before for a pitcher who had thrown 200+ innings the previous 6 years, had World Series experience, and was coming off a solid season. Perhaps KW knew he was injured and he dealt him for chump change, but that's more than a bit unethical as it is. KW traded Freddy Garcia for the best package he felt he had on the table, and Gavin Floyd was a highly valued commodity coming back to the White Sox. Carlos Quentin and Bobby Jenks were stolen much moreso than Gavin Floyd was. The Sox gave up an A-ball slugger and a 40-man roster spot respectively for the aforementioned; compare that with a guy who helped the White Sox win a World Series. You tell me who was more stolen. KW traded a pitcher who made how many starts for the Phillies? And how long was he around? And he got Gio-which turned into Swish, and a #2 starter out of it. How is that not stealing talent? Carter brought more to his team than Freddy ever did. That is what is called a steal.
  23. I would also file a dispute with the Better Business Bureau, they have been very helpful for me in matters like this.
  24. It def not neccesary to pay a lawyer unless he's a friend and he;s charging you basically nothing. This is a product of a company have idiots on the phone and behind desks that do nothing but mess up the process.
  25. I dont want Tyrus pushed back, his shot is coming around and the kid may be coming into his own this season. Also, it was hard to watch Oden last night, he reminded me alot of Amare when he came back, slow, cant jump, no explosiveness. It sucks he has such a tough first month competition wise because he needs some time to get up to speed.
