QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) Bulls fans need to be prepared that there is a much higher chance that Beasley pans out than Rose does. Beasley was the hands down top prospect of that class for years, Rose was considered the best for less than 2 months. I really really really hope that the Bulls know a lot more about basketball than myself, because I was one of the few on this site who wanted Beasley. That being said, I really dont feel its a good offense to have Rose dribble up the court and then immediately get himself pinned in the corner. If thats Del Negro's offense, than perhaps its not Rose its the system. Which is another thing we have a coach with not much experience/ 1 summer league game. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) I guess this could also be a ploy by Ken Williams to basically gain additional leverage on whichever team he is potentially talking to regarding a Uribe deal (basically indicating that we don't have to trade him and are happy to keep him on the bench...heck, we just DFA'd Ozuna to show exactly that). Again, odds are that isn't the case, but its a possibility. I also believe the Sox are comfortable with there options down in the minors in Bourgois, Richar, and Getz. I hope so. Losing Pablo takes away one of our better contact hitters and bunters. Uribe is an all-or-nothing type player that our lineup is too full of. I hope he gets dealt and one of those guys from AAA gets pulled up.

Ha, Gavin Floyd of the 3.22 ERA and 1.12 WHIP isnt consistent enough for people. What would make him consistent? ERA over his starts 4.50 2.02 1.40 2.84 3.16 2.50 3.32 2.92 2.93 3.22 3.15 3.10 3.30 3.19 3.39 3.45 3.22 He's been VERY consistent. He's given up 82 hits so far. Thats almost 40 less than our "Ace" Javy, in only 6 less innings. And 12 less than Danks in two more innings.

QUOTE (TCQ @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) Agreed except i wouldnt have floyd second. He has been too up and down so id go for more consistancy with contreras or vazquez if his last start was an indication of him cleaning his act up Who has been more consistent, Javy, Count or Floyd?

QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) it has been said many times over the last eight pages but i just wanted to echo the sentiments: Dye not in on the regular roster is a joke. Varitek on the roster is a travesty. Fukudome and Soriano starting for the NL is laughable. The all star game is for the casual fan, fine with me.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) I'd still take Dan Haren/Brandon Webb over any duo in all of baseball. Alot of ground balls in that duo. Halladay/Marcum is pretty good Cueto/Volquez is gonna be sick

I dont know if anyone has seen this guy who posts on youtube, he does every team's batting stances current and some past. He's pretty accurate with alot of them.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) What does that tell you besides giving up outs via sacrifice bunts and getting caught stealing to "manufacture" runs isn't really the best way to score? Good OBP + doubles/ HR's = great offense. This team has to see a hell of alot more pitches than that team as well.

1. MB 2. Floyd 3. Danks 4. Javy 5. Count

QUOTE (SpringfieldFan @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) I can agree. Just the things people have found to do with simple bottle rockets is frightening. However, on the other side it is a bit of a shame we can't purchase the simplest things like black cats without a permit anymore. We are stuck with cheap sparklers, smoke balls and those snakes that never thrill like you think they will. Cigrarettes are darn near as powerful as the firecrackers you can get now. That makes me think - if the state wants to institute a smoking ban, there they go. They can just classify them as illegal fireworks. SFF Go to Indiana. I purchase a ton of fireworks every year, most of them large mortars that I buy in Indiana. I light them off in a safe environment on my lake and everyone enjoys the hell out of them.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) Its half the size. He's a pitcher who has more to do with the outcome of a game, probably at least twice as much, than a 2b batting 9th. It was a comment made in jest just to show how ridiculous the comment I was responding to was. If you really think Uribe is the reason the Sox are 17-22 when he plays and would be 5 or 10 games better if Ramirez or Ozuna played instead,.....wow. Seriously, why dont you just stay out of threads when Uribe is the topic.

I'm on the Dwayne Train!!
-
I hate linebrink in that role. I would like a committee based on situations. If not, use Dotel, he has the most closing experience.
-
The twins are as hot as a team can get during a season of ups and downs, and yet we still held them off so far.

Cook with 2 RBIs already

QUOTE (Wedge @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Is it just me or did the Brewers pull one over on the Indians here? A pretty good AA prospect (LaPorta) and two low level prospects for an ace pitcher? Even if the Indians resign Sabathia, I think they could have gotten more in return. LaPorta is going to be a damn good player. You'll see for the next several years.

HAHAHAHHA. Are you an Ocean Virgin GP? Encinitas is great. You should also make your way to Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach, known to locals as OB and PB. Each town has a very different culture, but both have positives. Hippie vs Rich yout of college kids, its really a fun socio-economic split between basically two neighboring towns, but also the nightlife is awesome. I've spent a ton of time on the left coast, and I cant wait to hear about more experiences you have with some of the cool stuff you can do out there. Ill be out in two weeks even.
-
f***, I dont really want to face LaPorta for the next several years, but I guess it offsets getting CC out of the AL.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) While Jenks is out, I'd really prefer to see Thornton as the closer. Dotel I don't trust late in pressure situations and Linebrink should stay as the set up man (and I'm not saying that because of last night). Oh Rly? You dont trust a guy with 82 career saves? But you trust a guy who has never been a closer?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) Anyone know if that's what he usually throws? For a guy to come in as a starting pitcher and put up a 2.13 ERA with that kind of velocity he must have some ridiculous movement on everything and on his offspeed stuff. He has a really slow curve, a couple of cutters and great control.
-
Crede looks like 2007 Crede right now. His swing is awful.
-
He had a touch of soreness, no biggie.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) No, the Sox demolished him. Thome hit a 1000 foot homer against him. Ah yes, I knew there was a reason I remembered him.
