OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
RockRaines replied to soxbearsbulls's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) Can't we just make ONE move that doesn't completely suck? Yes two already, join the real world already. Good signing below value. Lets keep it going KW. -
QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) People still use snow tires? Wow! That'd be a real pain, but I think it'd be easier than switching my mower deck for the plw on my John Deere every fall and spring. It takes a couple hours and you have to guess the weather patterns - I've mowed as late as Dec 7 and as early as mid Feb. At least if you put the snow tires on a bit early you can still drive. You just look like a dork is all. Ya. I have a g35 coupe and its pushing about 300hp in the rear tires. My regular tires are bridgestone potenzas and I have 19 inch rims. Not exactly a good combo in the snow. So I trade them out for 17inch wheels with blizzaks. Rides totally different and I already notice improved traction in the rain.

Rogo is kind of an A's type player, walks alot, take pitches, nice OBP.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) Not to mention Chris Young. He looks pretty good right now as well. Josh fields put up extremely similar numbers, he looks good as well.

Did it all with a broken hand and a bad ankle. Pretty ballsy. -

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) Marty St. Pierre - 19 pts in 13 games.... hes not really a replacement for Borque's skill set, but the guy does nothing but score while in the AHL. Skille is more a Bourque type... good wheels strong shot. I heard Skille has been struggling this year, still true? -
Young dominant closers are too valuable to trade, bar none. Especially when you have ZERO replacements waiting in the wings.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) Holliday should've won it then. Look at his and Colorado's Septembers. There was a ridiculous statistic though where in games where Rollins scored a run vs wins where he didnt. Plus Coors field didnt do much to help Holliday

John McDonough in as Blackhawks President
RockRaines replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Dammit. I kinda like getting easy cheap tickets at the games. This is like pre 2005 whitesox stuff, where only the loyal fans are there before the marketing goes off the hook. -
I think besides Rollins already good numbers, they actually may have looked beyond numbers and actually on their impact on their respective teams as a factor?

This thread is like listening to a bunch of 13 year old girls bickering.

Come on people. We would be lucky to get an A ball fringe prospect for Juan, no way we get a starting caliber player with talent.
-
With Torii and O Cab we have some horrible breaking ball hitter in the lineup.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) Well, *if* there's a meeting, I could all but guess one or two places where they'd go. Remember, Torii lives right outside Dallas. Whats theat awesome texmex place where Cuban goes sometimes and several mavs go. I cant remember the name but it was awesome the few times I ate there.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) When they have James Loney who's put up an OPS+ of 130 in 486 career PAs? Hes going in a deal for M Cab

QUOTE(daa84 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) if we trade konerko i would peg us as instant front runners to land miguel cabrera or carl crawford, assuming we landed soem young prospects for pk and they would be packaged in some sort with some package of gio/dls/sweeney etc to get one of those guys The angels should have been target #1 for this as they could have throw us Kotchman plus spects perhaps with Garland in the package. I would say there are only a handful of other teams that need both a 1B and have the spects that we desire.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) I wonder if Yanks could be interested in Konerko. ill take phil hughes please.
-
QUOTE(WCSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Eckstein makes $9 million/year? You've got to be kidding me. As a starting SS, he may be close to what we would pay for O Cab considering we are getting money.
-
ok, ive softened on this. I guess talent for talent O cab is a better player, but I really thought that pitching would bring back a better haul. Of course with another signing this may look really great for us. We shall see.
-
QUOTE(rockren @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) OC is time times the player Eck is. When OC gets here- you'll love watching him everyday on the South Side. This guy is a blast to watch. Hes also a great leader and clubhouse guy and brings energy to the field which was lacking last season. Most angels fans are upset about losing his character, and rightfully so.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) I have a question... why sign Uribe for 5 million, and then trade for a SS? Okay, lots of people were expecting to see Garland traded, but our biggest need right now on offense is a leadoff hitter! This tells me that KW and Ozzie are now planning on having Jerry Owens start in CF and leadoff... And the signing of Uribe told you that he would be our starting SS, that should show you how accurate your feelings are.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) Well, it's because Contreras said he wants to stay in Chicago. And no way in hell would he have brought back one of the better SS in the AL.
-
QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) I'm not a huge defense stat-head, can you show me the stats that suggest this? Your eyes would work just fine.
-
QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) Cabrera isn't even a ton better than Eckstein so it doesn't matter much. HAHAHAHA. Next time put your post in green.
