  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) I don't worship Wrigley. I just think it's delightful, and I think that of a few other ballparks as well. Minimal advertisements. Full crowd, always. Green grass, ivy padded walls, comfortable rows and aisles. And I'm definitely not alone, and I'm not even just joined by Cub fans. People from Barry Zito to most baseball writers to many baseball players all love Wrigley Field. Actually most players HATE wrigley field even the home team. The clubhouses are tiny and not well kept, the field is terrible, the walls are dangerous all the way around. But they DO have that unique GREEN GRASS
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) We've been through this "Wrigley sucks" nonsense before. I think you guys who hate Wrigley Field have got penis envy. "Oh, my Cubs neighbor will make fun of me." "Oh, the media will care more about the Cubs than the Sox." "Oh, our ballpark is newer -- and it's made of advertisings, not steel, so it's unique!" Nope. its just a poorly designed ballpark. The only thing it has going for it is that its old, thats it. The walls are an awkward distance from home plate, the baskets are stupid, the indentations on each foul line are terrible, not to mention there is zero foul territory unless you want to break your leg running up a poorly constructed bullpen mound. The views are obstructed in a great percentage of the lower level, the concourse offers you no view of the field, and you cannot go from the infield to the outfield and vice versa. Its just not that great of a park. Not to mention it has notoriously the worst infield in baseball and an outfield that looks like there was a truck rally on it.
  3. Here is a great website for people who love looking at all the ballparks in baseball. I personally have been to a great deal of these and plan to finish the tour in a few years. http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com/Current%20Ballparks.htm
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) You act like I've never said anything about our ballpark. I like our ballpark okay, as far as aesthetics and appeal (and besides, it's a baseball ballpark, which is good enough for me) but it's nowhere near my list of top ballparks I've been to. I think I actually enjoy most minor league ballparks better, though not the teams. And Wrigley, not to mention. Wrigley is one of the poorest designed ballparks and also easy to jack it out of. I actually prefer many of the minor league parks as well, but I really like some of the newer parks that were designed with older ball parks in mind, like Petco, PNC, and I love Camden.
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) I am proud to say that I saw a Luis Terrero home run this year.......I think I'm proud to say it anyways. me too, the deepest of the year.
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) I'd take him. And Tony
  7. How does Frank even fit comfortably in the booth?
  8. I walk to work and make a very good sum of money. But I would prefer to work from home and set my own hours. I feel like most work can get done with working hard from 10-2, then just being available for the rest of the day. But I agree, commuting killed me, and walking to work is invaluable.

  10. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) Sign ARod. Bat Richar leadoff. If ARod stays with Yanks sign the little guy from St. Louis and bat him leadoff. Sign ARow. I'm not making more of him than he is, but Jones is past prime. Maybe Torii. Keep Garland. Trade Contreras, Erstad, Pods and minor leaguers for a serviceable fourth starter. Use one of the kids as fifth starter. Trade for bullpen help. Hope Crede is recovered. Hope Ozuna is recovered. We're going to the playoffs next year. Have faith. We can do it. Kenny can do it. The PLAYERS can do it. Jones is past his prime? Yet you want Hunter who is older and doesnt have nearly the success that Jones has had?
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) My honest opinion is that Richar projects to be a #2 hitter at the major league level. The guy already likes to see as many pitches as possible in an AB. He also doesn't seem to strike out too much for the power numbers he puts up. I think his future is in that spot of the line up. I actually said that in another thread. I just think that his dev will be a little slow for some folks here as he is still extremely raw.
  12. where is the neither button.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) IMO I'll take my chances with Richar rather than throwing 3 million at an aging, average 2b. I do believe Richar will put up league average numbers at least, and like I said he's a better defender than Tad already. Agreed on Row though. Agreed on the defense. The one thing I like is the added speed that Richar brings and the possibility that he can replicate Gooch's power numbers. However Gooch has been hitting .300 with Philly and has shown that he is most valuable in the 2 hole, something that we really need.
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 07:31 AM) He's only ever stole 40 bases once, and he's only been an above average offensive player once. Really, look at the numbers. well to be fair his 2005 and 2006 seasons were pretty good and better than Juan's IMO.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) Agreed on Gooch, Richar should be able to put up around league average numbers next season for less money and far more range at 2nd than Gooch. As for Rowand, well we need to find a cf some where. Depending on the cost, I'm certainly not opposed to it but he's not exactly my first choice either. I dont know how we can rely on Richar putting up league avg numbers with such certainty. It wouldnt be that bad to get him some seasoning as a super sub and see if he can grab the job from a Vet starter. And there is a bit of something about the effect that Rowand has on team's clubhouses, no matter how much people on here dont want to admit it.
  16. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) Except that OSU is good. They beat a Washington team, at Washington, with relative ease, the same Washington team that nearly beat USC. I guess then you could say that USC isn't very good, but with that logic no one in college football will be good. This is the problem with polls. There should be no polls until week 5 or 6 - sometime in the middle of the season when the cupcake games are over and everyone starts conference play. Remember this is coming from an OSU fan. The victory over Wash was a better win than most people thought, but its a different game than an in-conference match up with USC. Our defense is actually better than some people think as our yards per point is better than any of the teams since 2002 that we have had. OUr offense is decent with a good running game and two good receivers with a wild card in Ray Small. Little known fact is that this team ALREADY has more plays over 20 yards than the 2006 buckeyes team had with its explosive offense. With all that said, I still dont think that we are as good as the #4 team in the nation. The big ten is a bit down this year IMO, and OSU had to basically reload half their starters, including 8 first team all big ten players. But watch out in a few years when Beanie Wells gets to run behind the much hyped young offensive line. Add Saine to that list and you have a ridiculous potential for a dominant running game.
  17. The trib today hinted that both Gooch and A-row were going to be back next season. Gooch said he even kept all of his white sox stuff.
  18. Love to have him patrolling CF, but I fear the cost will be to great. The good thing is that now there are basically 3 "top tier" CF'ers on the market which means we could grab one.
  19. Neither OSU or Wisco should be ranked that highly, at all. None of the teams in the big ten are very "good." Buts thats the way that the rankings have shaken out so far, but they wont end up that way. s***, Purdue may end up winning the Big Ten for all we know.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) You went out to Addison for your tattoo? Who did yours there? I went out there when I lived in the burbs. I cannot recall who did the work. I actually think it was an apprentice at the time as the other artist was working on my friends much more complicated ink.
  21. My impression of Jerry is one of a stop gap or a #9 hitter. If we get Furcal I would like to see Richar Hitting #2 due to his patience (IMO) and his contact rate. 1. Furcal SS 2. Richar 2B 3. Thome 4. Kong 5 Dye 6 Fields LF 7 Crede 3B 8. AJp 9. Owens Furcal hits LHP quite well which is why I like him between Richar and Owens.

so to continue this thread. Where did you all get your ink? I got mine at rising phoenix and I am going over to tatu tattoo in wicker park for this next one.
  23. QUOTE(iamshack @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) And you are more Bill Maher than Abraham Lincoln. You know everything and have something to say about everything. Quite easy when you are not ever held accountable. He's a teenager, it comes with the territory.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) Maybe programming wise, but it is a lot more expensive. Plus on Cable I get a superior HD quality (Dish/DirectTV both have far less HDTV quality as they have to compress there HD feeds far more than what good cable companies do) & on Demand. Oh and I get the latest and greatest DVR's and boxes without having to drop 200 bucks on just one box. Do you have COX cable down there?
