QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) Havlat's going to be out for the year likely, according to the Score. you have got to be s***ting me -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) You know what? I've been saying the same thing for about 4 months now, but I have to admit, I was actually impressed at how rapidly Richar was able to start adapting at the plate to major league pitching and how rapidly his development proceeded. Naturally, there could always be a step back, but thus far he's significantly ahead of where I expected him to be when he came up. The thing that gets me excited about his offensive potential is his power capabilities. The balls jumps off his bat at times and that is a very valuable trait for a future leadoff/#2 hitter.

FWIW, the cubs now have more losses in this playoff series than we did in the whole way in 2005

Basically Jerry's only real negative is that he lacks SLG and his OBP could be higher. With that said I think alot of people in this thread are really exaggerating how bad his arm is. Its certainly better than PODS and is manageable with the two cannons in LF and RF. If he can hover around a .350+OBP I would say that he would be my lead off hitter for sure. He could steal over 50 bases next year with a full season under his belt. He makes the league min which helps us address other areas of the team like the pen and SS.

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread

The hawks offense looked decent last night and I agree with Denis, Kane was the best forward on the ice last night. His passes are beyond crisp. with that said we need Havlat, and he looks to be out at least a month. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 12:44 AM) There's always someone on the board selling part of their season tickets in The Ticket Exchange area. That's where I look first if I want to go to a game. I sell a bunch every year. Ill probably have another list next season.

Rented "The Lookout" with that kid from 3rd rock from the sun. Better than I thought it was going to be, plot was weak but he was somewhat convincing as a mentally challenged kid.

2 things you dont see very much, people at an Indians game and Victor throwing someone out.

Have a good one buddy.

Nice prediction by the broadcasters, dont give it to him low and inside, Lohse does, and there goes the ball.

QUOTE(juddling @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) You mean a business trying to possibly cash in on the "lemming'-mindedness of Cub fans surprises you???? I'm surprised it wasn't tried before Nothing like using a homeless crackhead as the face of your business.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) First of all, I don't know what the hell they are talking about in regards to Webb, and I watched very closely. Second, without that dirt in front of the plate the Cubs get shut out. Also, Carlos Marmol my friends is in deep s***. The D'Backs did the same thing Florida did about a week ago, and that is expose Carlos. All he EVER does is throw early count sliders, almost never in the zone, so if you take them and get ahead in the count, he throws hittable fastballs. That led to the home run that won the game by Miguel Cabrera last week, and also the home run that won the game by Reynolds last night, uh oh. And of course, finally, the Cubs logic with Zambrano is stupid as they are now HUGE underdogs no matter what in this series because unless they plan on winning 3 in a row, they'll have to win game 5 AT Arizona with Webb pitching (good luck). His hat had a wet spot on the brim on the top. It was wet from his sweat on his hands. Nothing of concern really.

Anyone who has been watching the baseball playoffs. Has anyone seen that Gillespie Chevy hired a homeless crackhead (Ronnie Woo Woo) as their new spokesperson? Are you freaking kidding me?

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) well here goes nothing. Anyone eve heard of/dealt with Impact Networking? They basically go around and try and make companies paperless, reorganizing their documents and digitalizing them and whatnot. They were the one interview I really liked and could see myself working for. Well, if you are talking about content mgmt, that is a company I havent heard of and Ive been in that line of biz for 5 years. Basically your first job is going to blow, wherever it is, so dont hold out for the perfect position. Just take a place with good training, benefits and decent people your age to work with. I started out of college at the typical new graduate sales type company, worked there for 365 days and moved on to a job where i could learn, think out of the box and move up quickly. Now at my age after working for around 5 years my pay scale is up to around 100k, my hours are somewhat flexible, but I travel a ton. Eventually I would like to own my own biz, more sooner than later. I found out early that I cannot work in an office all day, it drives me insane.

Richar could be passable at SS or a possible O-dog (not as good though) at 2B. I would rather he play 2B. With that said, we should at least check the price tag on Gooch. Also not included in that quote is when he said he kept all of his Sox stuff.

stainless steel doesnt hold magnets

Hahaha. Cubs fans are accusing Webb of having grease on his hat. No matter that he was wiping his sweat on the brim of his cap, he OBVIOUSLY was cheating. Also they are accusing the Dbacks ground crew of softening up the dirt in front of the plate to help his ground balls.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) I've been to one game at Wrigley, that was the game against the Sox a few years ago where they had to end the game in like the 6th or 7th cause the s*** hole a field can't drain water. Worst game I've ever been to(well that and mullet night last year), never again. Thats why a majority of players who are excited to play at the field for its history, are dissapointed in its condition. Its just extremely outdated in terms of baseball, and actually hurts the cubs in the long run.

I am probably renewing, but I BETTER move closer this year. I know they sent me a package in the mail, but I havent received it yet. IM sure there will be incentives for us to renew

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) I always enjoy the threads when me, you, SSI, and RockRaines are all in agreement. It's like a Podsednik injury.....happens about 4 times a year. Haha. Thats so true its ridiculous. I understand how Wrigley is great because of location (now) and that it has so much history. But thats really all it has going for it. Even cubs fans will agree to that, they just weigh the history as more important than actual ballpark amenities and playable surface.
