  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) No. That's a cute way to disparage Podsednik but he has a lot of male fans at the cell and the place goes nuts for him. Sure, there are a lot of teenage girls who like him but a lot of guys have Podsednik shirts and jerseys at the ballpark. It's kind of a weird phenomena. Yeah, cause he won a title with the sox. You also see alot of other players shirts that we all want to get rid of. It makes no difference
  2. I think its time to come to terms with the fact that many of our minor league top arms are due for the pen. Why not get them started now?
  3. Floyd has been the victim of bad defense already in this game. Its hard not to miss Crede with plays like that.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) I am just waiting for the Jessica Alba / Christina Aguilera. The Christina one cannot have her ferret of a a husband. In fact, if there was a sex tape of both of them together that would be outstanding. so you are saying you havnt been waiting for mine to break?
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I agree with you on that bullpen...but 1 problem...that still leaves us wanting another righty. If MMac and Thor could put up 06 type performances and stay healthy, then maybe a Masset or Aardsma would be able to fill that role just throwing junk innings, but can anyone guarantee me that they won't wind up repeating their 07 performances? I think that Broadway could make a push for that spot
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) You are an odd White Sox fan. I guess being at a "point in his life" in college shouldnt be considered what his views will be on life 5-10-15 years from now anyway.
  7. Furcal and owens Head and shoulders. Furcal #1 Owens #9
  8. So I guess im the only sicko on the site....
  9. Go get em Gavin. Keep building upon your successful starts, please!!!
  10. I still envision Richar as our leadoff hitter of the future FWIW. Though it may be way in the future.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) So now Jerry Owens has the ability to become '98 Kenny Lofton or Jose Reyes? When you get into the .370 OBP (100+ ISOd) 60 SB territory that's exactly who you're comparing him to. You're now saying he has the potential to be one of the elite leadoff hitters of his generation. No, Im saying if that happens then I would ignore his lack of SLG. I swear nobody reads posts anymore.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 12:10 PM) It's more than Just his contract, he's been pretty damn mediocre this year. His power and speed numbers are WAY down from his career averages. Truth. So you would like he may improve. Dodgers fans are saying they just want someone to take his contract and get something in return. I would say Garland may even be too much for Furcal his splits are so freaking weird this year. He only hits at home, against lefties, during the day, on grass. But I bet lots of people on here like this split: VS LHP .318 .363
  13. QUOTE(Dogfood22 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) But then when June came around and it was clear to anyone with eyes that the Sox weren't going to make the playoffs, did they use that money in the draft? Nope. Also I hope you are right about this new "safety net" meaning bigger risks with greater potential rewards in the first round, but I'll believe it when I see it. well, our first round draft pick this year has been called "the most dominant pick in the draft."
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) If he puts up a .370 he damn well better steal more than 40 bases. In a full season, I'd expect no less than 60 with that .350 OBP I'm hoping for. Sorry, i was being VERY conservative. lets say 60 then.
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) it can't get any hotter. i dont know how these women still think its a good idea to video ta[pe it. Which brings up a question. Anyone else on here ever convinced a girl to video tape it?
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) If Owens could put up a .350 OBP or better...and hold that >75% SB %age, I really am not sure I care about the lack of slugging. We have enough 40 home run guys on this team to make up for him not hitting that many. His OBP post all star is .340 right now, it's .500 in September...and despite him having a few more CS's in the past few games, he's still 28/35 on the season for a 80% clip. Depending on what we do about that black hole in the 2 spot next year...I'll take a decent OBP in front of Jim and Paul and be very happy with it. This is why I actually think he is an ideal #9 hitter. But lets say Jerry keeps developing like he is and puts up a .276 .370 with 40+ sb's and I will take that in the leadoff spot everyday
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 07:39 AM) That picture reminds me - not only did I enjoy watching Richar, Owens and Fields all light it up last night... I loved that whenever the camera was on one of the three of them, they were smiling. Just a good thing to see. At least they show a bit of energy and fight when on offense.
  18. I think its about time to see if we can snag something of better value than AJP as well. Our lineup is extremely plodding with Crede back. Out of that entire lineup, we have maybe 1 player who is a contact hitter, the rest k like there is no tomorrow. Fields and Richar are the only real speed threats and that doesnt say much.
  19. That lineup is terrible. No speed whatsoever, a TON of k's and zero contact. If we are going out for a SS, it better be someone that can actually lead off and steal bases. I honestly do see us making a stab at Furcal. CF is obviously a place where KW is looking to make a splash considering its basically one of the only positions that we dont have a real incumbent. Lastly that rotation is awful and we need to not put so much emphasis on the young guys, and Contreras needs to go if only for his contract.
  20. There were some disappointments in PB this episode. For one, Sona didnt turn out to be nearly as crazy as I thought it was going to be. They also should have done a little rehashing of the plot to get them in Sona
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 09:28 PM) Oh by the way, that .313 SLG% would be dead last amongst ALL outfielders (both leagues) and 3rd worst in baseball with just Vizquel and Punto being more inept, that's right Jason Kendall has a higher slugging percentage. I guess thats a big deal, but for a leadoff hitter its not as bad. Since he can steal so many bases, each one of those is basically a double. But I understand where the worry is coming from.
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 08:39 AM) Yeah, sure, but he can't pull fastballs. He kills breaking pitches but that isn't going to last forever, especially not as the league adjusts, which it's currently doing. There are good signs -- when he took Putz deep, that was a great game to be at, but there are some awful signs, too, like all the times he strikes out on 89-91 pitches down the pipe and the fact that he Ks so much. Agreed. The only fastballs he can hit are the ones that are low and away which he takes to RF. I dont think its abad approach, but he will have to shorten it up. LIke I said before, he loads his bat too much prior to the pitch. I would actually like to see him cut down his leg kick a bit and just use a small toe tap if possible.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 07:37 AM) If he doesn't learn to rip a fastball, particularly the inside fastball, he's going to lose his power numbers which is his game right now. He'd better adapt and shorten up by next season or else he's going to find himself sucking at baseball. Not to be a downer, I like Fields a lot, but his strikeouts, inability to hit a fastball and opposite field blasts tell me there are significant changes to be made for him or the pitchers are going to eat him alive. You can't be a major leaguer for long if you can't hit the fastball. Are you saying he cant hit the ball out to RF? Here is his spray chart http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/individual_player...&statType=1 He has hit a few out there, in fact he is mostly a left center gap hitter.
  24. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Grossman sucks. He is a career lower-level quarterback. Of course, he's the best option we have, but that isn't saying anything. Luckily hes a free agent. ESPN the mag said McNabb is destined for chicago next season.
