  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) Back up or not, it seems like catchers nowadays arent very good at throwing out base runners. I think that will help benefit Pods. True. Except for Detroit, we should be able to steal on every catcher in our division, pretty consistently.
  2. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) wouldnt he rather go to michigan? Why? Reports says he's getting 1.8 million. Pretty good bargain there, less than Thad
  3. I actually like how Pods has been playing so I disagree. Erstad is no lead off hitter.
  4. "go hug the crack head homeless guy honey, dont be scared."
  5. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) You don't have to do a dnce for every move made, but when we sign Darin Erstad some came out and said the season is over. How can you support or not support a move when you dont know the results yet? Everyone thinks there a GM and have any idea how it works. I know I don't so I try and see what happens. Because its the textbook aim low frame of mind, then if the move works out, its that much better. Its alot harder to deal with the disappointment of something failing when you really had your hopes up that it would work out. Alot of this is evident in how jaded some people have become since last season when our hopes were so high, it made the failure that much worse. With the low expectations this year, if we finish in 3rd place it wont hurt as much.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) That'll all depend on his control and that new split finger pitch he was throwing. A pitcher who changes speed with good control and 88-89 can still succeed if he has the kind of movement Freddy had on that split. Even with that stuff he had last year he'll lose a run on his ERA.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) If you root for the Sox, does it mean you have to support every move they make? When the Sox make a move that us "pessimists" like, we're the first ones on here saying it's a good move, etc. Its easier to take disappointment when you are pessimistic from the start. If thats your thing, thats your thing.
  8. Its not worth trying to convince these guys to be positive or to unconditionally love this team. Some people love being miserable and being negative and its the only thing that keeps them interested in baseball and the white sox. They live to criticize and its better than not being able to find cracks in things. Some people love this team, some people love to hate it.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) Wow if Freddy is still only hitting 88, I take back everything I said about a big year this year. He'll still be better than last year, hes in the NL.
  10. Wow, ND fans sure are sensitive, lulckily you will all be knobbing Claussen soon and will forget that Quinn ever existed. Still Russell has the higher upside, sorry, but its true.
  11. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) I disagree with like every thought in this post. 1) Quinn is easily the best QB in the draft in terms of both being NFL ready today and potential. Arm, accuracy, size, leadership, some mobility - what does he have that teams should be afraid of? He may be the most NFL ready, but as far as potential including size, arm strength and overall athleticness, JaMarcus Russell is head and shoulders above Quinn.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Watching that DVD is pretty moving, especially if you were there. I can remember exactly what was going on at that point. I remember looking down from the far perch I had in the park and seeing an amazing site, 40k fans in raincoats, bags, and raingear jumping up and down high fiving each other. It was amazing. I was sitting next to the most enormous guy ever, turned out the same guy I sat next to in the ALCS. My buddy went to the bathroom right when it happened, and this mammoth picked me up and shook me like the caddie in Happy Gilmore. QUOTE(Beltin @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) Tagged and Bagged! Light it Up!
  13. So weird since I just watched the dvd and heard it for real.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 02:10 AM) For comfort and aesthetics, yes. For history and accuracy, no. As long as I'm not sitting in one of the blue seats (which look much smaller than the green ones), I vote HISTORY AND ACCURACY!!! Actually after sitting in both I thought the Green ones were a little more snug.
  15. BTW, I watched my 2005 WS dvd today. Still brings tears. Oh, and did anyone see that the other D in the Ranger's DVD combo has to have surgery. So far one D is out, the V sucked in the majors and we traded for the other one.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) Well, DUH. The Miller Brewery is pretty much right across the highway! I'm surprised they even carry cans, they should all just be tethered to hoses that begin at Miller! They actually use the bottles, and if you are nice enough some of the guys will keep the cap on it so you can stock up.
  17. NIce to see pods playing well. I wouldnt worry about Jenks that much. He has been working on his other pitches for about 90 percent of the spring, especially his cutter and his change.
  18. Apparently Cable has a good case here, and has really upped the ante on this deal. The cable conglomerate will NOT let this get away, and I love them for it.
  19. Dice-k looked nasty against the Pirates today. 96 mph on his fastball, just blowing it by people.
  20. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) Only a 6th rounder? Excellent trade for the bears. I wouldn't say the end for Brown though not by any means but it could mean FS might not be a serious issue come draft day. Except he has a huge contract and is a horrible cover saftey.
  21. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 07:40 PM) ALL of them? Come on, I just got Delmon, Chris Young, Jeremy Hermida, and Jeremy Sowers. The keeper I got Delmon, Markakis, Gordon, Chris Young, Drew, Hermida, Duncan and Sowers. Seriously though, Steve just came up with a good one. Mike Pelfrey apparently has a starting spot now... Didnt you get upton too? I just remember searching all of the guys I wanted and being like...... Zoom!!!
  22. Oh yeah, already got a baseline with sox logo.
