I havent read the thread, but let me be one of the first if not the first to say this: f*** Aaron Rowand. Anderson will be twice the major leaguer than A-row will ever be.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) KW sold low on Cotts. For a young lefty reliever a year removed from a tremendous season, I thought we should have gotten more. Aardsma isn't a good pitcher, and I feel like Hendry sold KW on his performance to end the season. Are you kidding? Cotts is absolute garbage. We traded a guy with no real stuff, who was just "fooling hitter" one year and picked up a guy with larger upside and a prospect. Garbage for garbage and our new garbage is better than theirs. I cant even believe anyone is upset about losing gascan cotts

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Erstad or Mack Erstad could be the top defensive 1B on the team.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) I definitely agree with the fact that McCarthy trade is looking good. However, just as you said it seems Danks is being rushed, doesn't it also feel like Floyd is being rushed? After his season last year, we seemed to just throw him right into the 5th starter race. Oh well....I just hope that Danks wins the role, and it's not handed to Floyd. Thats what makes me feel comfortable is that I see with my eyes that Danks decided to go out and take the roster spot. I liked him from the first interview and the guy has been nothing short of impressive. If you have a top prospect who is 21 years old, go out and take a spot on the big league roster, it should impress the hell out of everyone.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) Rather it'd be Floyd as I don't want Danks to be rushed. And Charlie pretty much has no chance at the 5th starter's job, because he can't really make a positive impression in that thin Arizona air now can he. Its seemed like he is being rushed, but the guy is clearly the best young arm in the system and has gone out and taken that 5th spot. If Danks ends up as the 5th starter, that trade has to look pretty freakin good at this point.

Sox vs. Rox, March 10th 2007, 2:05 CST (SS)

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) Well hopefully we can get Danks a start or 2 to see how he does against the regulars at the first part of the game. Maybe some away games, when they are inclined to play more of their regulars. Out of Floyd, Haeger, Masset, Gio, Danks, he is the best so far this spring. I know Charlie would be successful on the team, but Danks is trying to prove he belongs with the big club. -

Well if we are choosing the 5th starter by stats, Danks is your guy. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) I'm telling you, it's such a blessing for our organization that Buehrle isn't serious about signing a contract extension. Yeah, why would we want to bring back our best pitcher over the past 6 seasons.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) There was rampant speculation that Prior was a juicer a few years back (while still in college). His pitching mentor has had numerous guys that were later busted for steroids. It wouldn't shock me if this was somehow related to his issues the past few years. It couldn't happen to a bigger asshole. It could be true. As prior gives up a huge double. He has shrunk a little bit, and his calves of steel arent quite there anymore. Going from 94-97 on the gun to 85-88 is a pretty large drop IMO.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Give it time for Prior. he has barely pitched over the past 2 or 3 seasons. Yeah, because of the condition of his shoulder which cannot be fixed. hes done QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) Tracey into pitch. Let's go Sean. and please make your trade value rise, please

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) It is spring training people... "Broadway sucks... trade him I tell ya, trade him!" Should we also dump Sweeney since he is having a bad spring? Hell, lets trade Garland and Konerko while we're at it. Well, wouldnt you say the things flash just brought up were from last season when it wasnt spring training? QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) He's not our top prospect. Danks/Fields are are top pitcher and position player. hence the use of the term "a" top spect.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) That's sort of the problem. Buehrle may have comparable 'stuff,' but he has control. Broadway gives up hits, surrenders walks, AND has low strikeout totals. Not a good recipe for success in the majors. If he is regarded as a top spect now, he should be dealt before he gets taste of the major league strike zone.
-
For a control pitcher, he certainly has terrible control.

The 2007 Big Ten Tourney

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) It's going to probably get 6, which is amazing since the league is AWFUL. Those 2 games last night were 4 of the 6 tourney teams, and I didn't think much of any of the 2 teams (including Wisky). Illinois should be in after "winning" that war of attriction last night, I'm not sure how you could take Indiana over Illinois, all things considered, and Indy is in, so Illinois should be too. And Indiana, Michigan, and Iowa did lose yesterday with Illinois winning, so overall that's a very good day. OSU Wisco MSU IU U of I Purdue are most likely all in. Regardless of how terrible everyone thinks the conference is, they are still a big time conference and pretty much any of those 6 teams could take the top teams in the mid majors and smaller conferences. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) Oh, so I guess his poor start wasn't the result of 'working on pitches' as many here assumed.... 200 IP 4.5 ERA 112 k's

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) Real shocker...the man hates everything but LA and I'm sure he hates half of LA. Your probably the real reason the OC got cancelled too. San Diego >>>>> LA >>>> San Fran Just my opinion. I was far from enamored with the two times I've been to San Fran. San Fran is nice as long as you arent there for long. The cuisine I think was ridiculously good. LA is horrible though, bad layout , bad traffic, bad neighborhood. San Diego is awesome though, especially all the little surf towns (encinita, Del Mar) along the coast. Wicked fish tacos.

Ugliest tickets in years.

March 9th: White Sox vs. Arizona

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) What disappoints me about Garland isn't necessarily the HR's, but eight hits in three innings? They all couldn't have been off changeups. 200 IP 4.50 ERA 112 k's book it -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Cotts has allowed 14 hits in 5 innings of work this spring. Still sounds like the guy who allowed nearly a .500 OBP against him after the break. I guess he really is settling into the "Glendon Rusch" role.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) WOW. He sure wet himself in the 2nd: 4 hits, 3 ER (HR - Koyie Hill), 1BB, 1 SO. better update that BMAC watch.

I also want to agree on Valido. His fielding was awesome everytime i saw him, I just hope hit bat comes around.
