  1. I like OSU's bracket in the lastest release. Looks to be a nice first couple of rounds.
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 01:13 AM) I don't need sluts on the ice nor a mascot for an original 6 franchise. Leave that crap to expansion teams. And the white sox.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) His comments were direct. Ozzie made the comment in this reference. He said he only had Brian Anderson as a friend, he made the wrong friend. I have people around town. I know when they are out at the bars. Funny, BA didnt go out nearly as much as Cotts and some others, but yeah that must be it.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Note to our management. Top lip, bottom lip marry them together. I guess the one comment is that he believes Brian and Bmac were out partying is what he says. BTW it is now official that Ozzie doesnt like Brian. Its not just a theory. Why is that official? Maybe Ozzie meant that BMAC should have befriended some veterans to teach him more about the majors, maybe to give him some guidance. Why automatically does it always have to be so negative. It could have even been a joke between him and Brian. There are assumptions on both sides, and they are probably ALL wrong.
  5. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) if anderson is not the starter for this team this year and/or next year, ozzie HAS to go. he is going to ruin one of our best young players. hahaha. I hope this was a joke. Anderson has alot to prove in the MLB before we deem him more important than our manager. Alot of managerial experts on this site for real. What kind of manager is built for long term success? Its no mistake that the key players on the team like playing for Ozzie, BMAC is gone and commented on his old team like he shouldnt have. This is such a non-story turned into the funniest flaming of a great manager ive seen in quite awhile.
  6. I am sitting at Sky harbor airport right now. I must say i got to see 2 spring training games during my business trip. I saw the cubs/giants and the Padres/Mariners. From my experience at ST I have to say that Peoria Sports Complex is one of the best places to watch a ball game. 6 dollars to sit in the lawn seats and the complex is really nice with great food. I would def go back to that place. Mesa I thought was garbage.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) I predict Bobby Jenks' right arm falls off sometime before the start of the 2009 season. I really don't think it can hold up for much longer, I hope I'm wrong but I really believe this to be the case. I would feel that way if it was his elbow. Thats the part of his body that should worry us the most.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) On Nelson I'm startin to think we really we need a bigger point guard in there. He's not good defensively Jameer, and in the long - term that's something we need to look at. Having Darko and Dwight in the low post is causing alot of match up problems for any team. Add in a point guard who can drive and dish and cause another match up problem can move them up in the East big time. I like what the Bulls were doing to Howard though. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) Have you seen Joe Theisman's career ending leg injury? Much, much worse. I still can barely watch that clip to this day. Hell, even Willie McGahee's torn ACL was much brutal to watch. Robin's ankle, Willis M's knee, whats his name' on the Broncos leg injury, Butch's arm injury, man there are alot of them i can think of that just make me sick like Livingston's.
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) He's not half as qualified as he used to be. But I am stumped as to why they denied him.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) It's so hard for me to resist Santo jokes right now. Please dont resist the urge. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) The HOF is such a joke, if you didnt play in New York or win multiple World Series it is getting tougher to get in all the time. You have writers who wont put people in because they didnt like a player or he didnt win enough, and players wont put other players in because they judge players against themselves and always decide they are better so they wont vote for new guys to get in. The HOF voting system is broken and needs to be fixed. Do his numbers really scream out that the system is flawed? I mean, its not like he was a ridiculous player and its a catastrophe that he didnt make it.
  11. Jermaine Dye is a prime example of why you take a discount to go somewhere, whether it is hometown or not. If you are comfortable and you have a chance to win, you take it.

    Heroes Thread

I think the old thread was archived. I wanted to pick it back up as I am now a loyal addict, and I think the direction the show has been going this season is awesome. Last nights episode was very weird though as the Nuke-man apparently started releasing nuclear energy. Doesnt that mean the guys inside would be dead or dying by now? It was cool to see how bad Claire was after she drugged him.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Yeah...no. for the straight guys....
  14. Registered This should be called post-padder league
  15. Everyone here that is clamoring for Rowand's attitude to come back to the team, Erstad is that type of guy. He will keep people moving and working all season long. I think the Angels are going to miss him a ton.
  16. All i read in that blog was "blah blah blah, im bored, blah blah blah."
  17. My studies in college and grad work were done with child psychology. I have always believed that it is far and away the most over diagnosed disorder in the world. When parents cant control or discipline their children, they automatically assume its ADHD, the doctors usually agree because it is a very hard thing to accurately diagnose. My initial reaction to your question is try some different techniques for studying or relating the material to the child. Some people just arent visual learners and some arent auditory learners. Maybe the material just isnt presented in a way that is interesting to your child. Maybe social pressures are something that is more important. All in all i would recommend trying different ways to relate the material to the child and give him/her extra time to ask questions and let you explain or help them with the work. Medication is necessary in extreme cases when there is a chemical imbalance that needs to be corrected, but in a majority of the cases the problems can be helped immensely by tailoring the studies to the child's attention span or the childs interests.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 01:20 AM) Nice to see Darko pick it up tonight, and we finally come through with a W. For anyone that actually watched the game, how did he look? And Dwight with 11 TO's, picking up a triple double the bad way. Darko looked good, but we just dont have the size to box out two monsters. He forced a few shots he shouldnt have. Jameer Nelson is the only thing that keeps me from really liking the Magic, the guy is a whiner and did nothing but try and draws fouls for the last 5 min. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 08:50 AM) In HS I watched a guy pole vaulting have his poll swing sideways and him land arm first on the runway. His elbow was destroyed, and his arm swoll up to the size of a watermelon. I could hardly keep my lunch down. Thats how I felt watching Butch from Wisco this sunday.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) Chief Black Hawk is a major figure in Illinois history - more so than the Illini tribe, really. He was among the last resistors in the area. The army eventually tracked him down, chased his band across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, and eventually ran them into the Mississippi where most were shot to death trying to cross. So, like the Illini name, the name itself is reverent, not offensive. You don't see some cartoonish feather-headed mascot parading around the ice at half time, do you (admitedly, its been a few years since I've been to a Hawks game). No, in fact now they have scantily clad hot young women skating around the ice which is better than any Chief dance you can throw out there.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 01:28 AM) rza.shtml[/url] --and Andrew Miller wasn't promoted to the Tigers one year out of college because he was terrible. no, he was promoted because it was a clause in his contract when he signed with the Tigers.
  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) Just so I can find such things later... source? EDIT: Sorry, meant to be referring to Rock's quoted text. It was linked earlier, i just posted the actual blog.
  22. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 08:52 AM) it's a bit difficult to explain, i guess. there is some excitement here, but it's just not as widespread. people are happy, but more because they support the university than they really understand what's going on. i'd say you are as likely to hear a random sports fan b****ing about the blue jackets as you are to hear them pumping up ohio state basketball. i judge a lot by listening to callers on sports radio. usually the more critical they are, the more passionate they are. on the monday after ohio state beat michigan you can still hear people calling in and criticizing tressel. that's just the nature of things with football here. with basketball, it's more, "yeah, we won, go bucks." Well the OSU football team is by far the most popular sports team in Ohio, so its going to be hard to contend.
