QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) Base hit for Paulie, that scores a pair, thatta boy PK!! 9-0 good guys, Dye to 2nd. BTW, in that situation with Thome up, they either let Robertson strike him out, or bring in Walker to strike him out. They walked Dye.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Platooning right vrs lefty and lefty vrs righty is overrated that's for sure. no s***. And Dye gets the respect he deserves here. nice

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) From here on out, every new series is our biggest series of the year. truth.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) No doubt we need a good right handed bat to bring in, but all in all I am satisfied with the offense. Can't argue with the problem we have with lefties though. Remmeber last year they all said we were too heavy from the right side. Now it's too many LH bats. Not true at all. Iguchi is a righthanded hitter who is worthless against LHP. So you have 3 hitters, pods, gooch and thome who can all be neautralized by a LOOGY.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) I don't know why anyone is even bringing the #3 hitter up as far as Dye is concered. Thome, Konerko, DYE and Crede have provided is with some real thunder and then Iguchi, Pierzynski and sometime Uribe to boot. Doesn't matter who is in the #3 spot we have a ton of offense. Because with Thome in the 3 hole, our top three hitters are worthless against LHP. Not only that, but Dye is better with runners in scoring position and gets more hits, which would allow our place setters to score more often. Just because we hit alot of HR's before, doesn mean the offense could be more efficient. our team is garbage against Lefties. I dont think some people understand the dynamics of building an effective offense. I would take an offense that scored runs more consistently than one that had the ability to score 20 one game and get blanked by a junkballer the next.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) Seeing criticism of Thome and Dye (a double play waiting to happen?) make me think the dreaded disease has hit a lot of Sox fans. WE ARE SPOILED. Thome is getting criticised more than Anderson. Amazing. I haven't been able to get back to Chicago to see any games in person, but I am hoping the Cell hasn't had this spoiled attitude. From what I can tell on TV the crowds have been loud and not as crazed as some on this board. Some players do not deserve ANY criticism in my book and Dye, Konerko, Thome and Crede are 4 of those. Perhaps Bobby also. How is Thome being criticized more than Anderson? Drama queen much? Thome is one of the best power hitters in the game. He just isnt in the right spot in the lineup for this team. Our 1, 2, 3 hitters all cant hit LHP for s***. Dye would be more effective in that spot. It will take Thome being out a few games for Ozzie to realize this.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) WTF??? CASEY THROWN OUT AT 1ST BY OZUNA IN LF!!! WHAT A PLAY, WHAT WAS CASEY DOING?!?! Hes slower than dirt. ALways has been.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) I don't think the crappy play has been anyONE's fault, but Konerko has been sucking it up as of late. Yeah, his numbers are on par, but how many double plays has he hit into during key situations in the last 5 games with the twins and tigers? I can think of at least three crucial opportunities he let pass with a crappy slow roller to SS or 2b. Hawk is smoking crack. Crede is our MVP thus far. He hits the most clutch shots to either win us games or get us back into games (see last night). Dye is by far our MVP.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) BRIAN ANDERSON CANNOT HIT RIGHT HANDERS. YOU ALL ACT LIKE BRIAN ANDERSON IS THE NEXT WILLIE MAYS. HE'S NOT. HE'S NOT THAT GOOD. ROB MACKOWIAK IS GOOD. HE PLAYS GOOD. Actually BA is a much better hitter against RHP.
-
Man I like Dye in the 3 hole. Gooch is beyond awful against LHP, and our lead off hitters seem to be retarded. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) The rest of the staff should take note with that Jon has shown since he's turned it around, which is it's amazing how much success you have if you can do things as simple as keep the ball down, not walk guys, and not give up homers. And pitch effectively inside.
-
No offense to Thome. But he would be next to worthless against Robertson. Dye adds a player in the top three who is deadly against LHP.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Thome has been HUGE for us...which is why I'm baffled as to why he's being criticized as if he was one of our starting pitchers... He is a great hitter. I dont think he is the most effective where he is in the lineup. Thome cannot bat behind Iguchi and in the 3 hole, I htink Dye would be more effective. Dye is better with runners on, hits the ball better for singles, and makes more regular contact. Also you cant just cancel out the #2 and #3 hitters when a LHP is starting that day.

where was that post about thome hitting more homeruns than Dye?
-
Yeah, but is Lighthouse Place ok?
-
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) No it wouldnt. Konerko, Dye or Crede would be a much bigger blow. This post says it all. Out of all of Dyes hits, how many of them were absolutely CLUTCH? How many times did he make contact or go the other way to get a hit? Thome refuses to do this (he did in April, man is/was he scary) I think our lineup gets a shot in the arm with Thome grabbing some bench for a couple games this way. Put Konerko 3rd, Dye 4th now. Thome I havnt been pleased with for a while now (strikeout-wise/pulling-ball wise) Pods, bats 9th now Dye has the highest BA with runners in scoring position on the team.
-
can we use him as a pinch thrower when the balls is hit to PODS?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Dye is also a DP waiting to happen. Thome gets on base more often than any White Sox player. He also homers more than any White Sox player. Not having that in a line-up on a team where scoring a lot of runs is imperative due to poor pitching, is going to hurt. Hopefully Thome will only miss a game or 2, but I have a bad feeling. Thome has ONE more HR than Dye. And Dye has almost 20 more hits less k's more RBI's and the 2nd best OBP on the team. Oh and vs LHP his OBP is .438 and he hits .352 against them.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Have I entered the twilight zone? On what planet is our lineup more effective without Jim Thome? The planet where the other team uses Lefties to kill us. Of course the raw power will drop off, and th ability to score 18 runs per game. But right now, it is easy to get through the #2 and #3 guys by just using LHP. Not only that, but thome and Paulie are a double play pitcher's dream. Slow footed man on first, Konerko loves to pull the ball to the 3B. With Dye hitting #3 he not only has power and OBP, but he has the ability to drive the ball through the middle and to RF, and the IF doesnt shift the whole IF to try and take away the single. With Gooch on 2B or PODS, Dye automatically improves our chances at letting them score. The offense may not be better with just scoring a million runs, but it becomes more versitile and thats what i think this team needs day in and day out.

QUOTE(Contreras @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) Broadway's first AAA start: 6 IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 6K, 10 Groundouts, 2 Flyouts Good start. wow. Great start in AAA>

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) Strained left hamstring. Will know more tomorrow. It would be a devestating blow if we had to put him on the DL. I disagree. I think the lineup will be more effective without him there. If they put Dye in the 3 hole, the lineup changes drastically, and we already hit LHP better.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) Mack in center...f*** no Put him in left for one god damn game I dont understand resting BA. He should play everyday IMO. Im gonna go out on a limb and predict a loss.
