QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 06:51 AM) It does require a lot more bandwidth or storage for what I feel is a minimal gain. Does it look better? Yes. Does it look THAT much better? No. It's not the jump we witnessed from VHS to DVD or DVD to BluRAY. 4k/8k makes more sense for massive movie theater screens. Resolution, it seems, has become the next spec sheet filling mhz/ghz / megapixel race. It also requires a new HDMI standard

Rioters are going after other cops families and homes. Sounds like a reasonable reaction.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:56 AM) I'm blown away by a lot of the responses on here. The entire thing was orchestrated so that what has happened would happen. They damn near wanted riots - you have to figure - for the terrible way in which this whole thing was planned out. Of course they should've announced the decision in daylight hours. Of course they shouldn't have made all the big announcements about mobilizing the Nat'l Guard. The militarization of the police is what is being fought in the first place, so lets talk big and scary about how we're militarizing the situation, right!? Let's just further fan the flames. That makes sense. I'm sorry. Should people be rioting and looting? No, of course not. But do I understand the pain, fear, hatred, anger and hopelessness people feel in light of the mockery of justice they were given? Absolutely. I'm also not going to ignore that the people burning buildings are probably just burning buildings. There's truth to that. They don't care one way or another, it's just an opportunity to create free mayhem. I get that. And that's f***ed up. But in my mind, then the DA and the system shouldn't have rigged the outcome in the f***ing first place. sounds like one crazy conspiracy.

Injustice!! Burn that little Caesars!

People who riot don't care about what just happened. They have s*** lives and want free booze.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 05:21 PM) The one shot to his hand was at close range. There was gunpowder residue in the wound. That's believed to have come during the struggle in/through the car in which two rounds were fired. The other shots all appeared to enter from his front side, but they were not at close range (close meaning within a couple feet). He was not shot in the back, but IIRC one of the arm wounds was inconclusive. What it doesn't and can't rule out is if Wilson shot at him as he ran away but didn't hit him. The only "evidence" that he had his back turned while shooting is witness heresay. All medical points to him facing the front. Even if they took this guy to trial he isnt going to get convicted.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) I'm curious, let's flip the switch here: Let's take the cop component out of this. You just have person A allegedly shoots person B at a party. You've got what amounts to 50/50 testimony, with some people saying he did it, some people saying he didn't. He obviously denies it. Do you bring charges on that kind of case? What if he's convicted? Would you not be all up in arms that he was convicted on conflicting evidence? My guess is no - to find guilt you need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. You need some good, hard evidence. 50/50 generally isn't enough because you're presumed innocent until proven guilty. Why is the situation reversed when a cop is involved? Why is it basically that the cop is guilty unless he proves himself innocent? Here you've got, at best, a split in the testimony (this assumes that the anonymous witnesses were found and gave testimony consistent with the newspaper articles). Some say he's surrendering, some say he isn't. Some say he's shooting him down from the back, some deny it. Why the different perspective? Well only if it happened in a party where everyone there has some sort of hatred for the organization the shooter works for.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) He was at least 30 feet away from Brown, and I'm pretty sure the law is not on your side with that interpretation. But we're still back to there not being any evidence, leaked or otherwise, that we know about at this point that supports Brown making a move at Wilson. Maybe there are some witnesses we don't know about who testified to the GJ, but what's publicly known contradicts that claim. She explicitly disavowed the conclusion the reporter stated in her piece. Which is good, because you can't even draw the conclusion the reporter stated from an autopsy result. You also can't know what the reporter did or didn't summarize because we don't have a transcript of their verbal conversation. It's equally possible that the reporter simply misunderstood what she was being told and ran with it because it'd be a big story (and it was!) Wasnt there medical evidence and an autopsy just released that basically disputes him running or being far away?

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 08:13 AM) I don't see him as a one-and-done, my guess is he's a 2-3 year guy. But who knows at this point. He's one of those shooters where every time the ball leaves his hand it looks like it's going in. So smooth. I think you mean you hope he will stay that long. He and Russell are going to be going an interesting battle for freshman of the year. -

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) First post here: With the recent signing of LaRoche, I think we as fans can all but rule out a Pablo Sandoval signing. Main reason why I say this is because LF, RHSP and bullpen help are all much larger needs. With that being said, I feel that Melky would be a great signing (even with the 2nd round compensation). Imagine the top part of the lineup being: Eaton Cabrera Abreu LaRoche Garcia. That's a pretty potent top part to the lineup. Aoki is another LF FA I would seriously consider. I like that lineup. Just need to hope there is a little more money for an RHP in the rotation and need to get lucky on bullpen.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 07:18 AM) Rumors are just that. Was that prior to giving Stanton 3 billion dollars? Plus that's just one team so it's not like there was a huge demand for him, if they wanted to sign him, I would have let them. To me, LaRoche is the final piece on a contending team, a guy that can come off the bench in a pinch a hopefully be productive. I don't think he's a guy you count on as a main weapon. At least not on a good team at his age. Oh so the Sox are done for the offseason? News to me. And they got Adam under market value for a short term which fills a need. No reason to not like the deal.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 06:18 AM) This is a nothing move to me. In fact, it's probably an over pay. They probably cold have waited until after the New Year and signed him for 1 year at about 7 mill. I just don't think there was a huge demand for a 35 year platoon DH/backup 1b. I don't think much of your post is accurate at all.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 01:42 AM) Meh. I don't think LaRoche really fits will with this team's timeframe of success, unless Hahn has plans to add a SP, OF, another RP, and possibly a C upgrade. And obviously he wouldn't be trading or even considering trading Alexei unless he is going to also sign Hanley Ramirez for SS. I just think this team Adam LaRoche is a final piece for this team, not a building block. If this move was made in January after Hahn acquired those other pieces, then I would love this. But being that it's the first piece (well, 2nd to Duke I guess), I am not a real big fan of it. He better be a 2.5 WAR player over the next couple years if Hahn wants any surplus value from this deal. Yes the plan is to try and add those positions.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 12:15 AM) I guess I'll go ahead and throw my penny in the fountain then. I'm basically combining your info and Bucket's info to try and figure out some possible targets. There is a possibility of an expensive splash with the budget I've heard however I don't think they are set on outbidding other teams.
