  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) OK, I'm reading more about this. Supposedly this is something that happened in 2012 but was just discovered recently. ND would be declaring these players retroactively ineligible for the 2012 season and vacating wins, even though the offenses don't necessarily meet the standard the NCAA would use to declare the students ineligible and forcibly vacate wins. Sounds like the university is incredibly pissed and trying to send a very strong message. Gotcha, makes sense. I thought it was weird that it would have continued after all that has happened.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 11:40 AM) I haven't talked to anybody up there in a while and haven't heard anything new. Are you hearing specific names?
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) Our local NBC station used to pre-empt network programming for SEC football and basketball games, with football games often running beyond ND kickoff time and basketball games often bumping L&O: SVU, so the wife and I are both very happy for the SEC to have their own network so we can have our NBC programming back. What's going on with the academic suspension rumors in South Bend?
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) It's part of the CHOICE package from DirecTV. But, it's smart of SEC Network to charge more for it in the south because people here WILL pay it. I'm just not thrilled that my bill will be going up $1.40 just for one channel, but hey, at least they're going to show a lot of games. I am in favor of more football regardless, so its pretty cool.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 11:02 PM) Yeah, it is, but nothing still comes anywhere close to justifying the actions of the police in Ferguson, going back to Saturday. It got buried a bit back, but why didn't the dumbass Bundy militia members who pointed loaded weapons at police, who refused to back down in defense of a criminal and a thief, draw anything like the police response that largely peaceful protests have drawn? edit: the actual psychology of riots is pretty complex; why do people burn cars and riot and loot when their sports teams lose (or even when they win sometimes)? How and why do people take out their frustration on random targets when things reach a boiling point? I guess I just don't get rioting. It makes no sense to me that your response is turn on your fellow man who did nothing wrong. There are better ways to express your frustration. I felt the same during the Rodney King riots. The guy you are assaulting or whose business you are burning down could be your ally or someone who has only helped your cause. It makes no sense.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) Remember that this didn't start with some random, unprovoked riot but with the likely murder of Mike Brown, with leaving his body to rot in the sun for hours, with a stonewall from the police on what happened and who did it. In response to what is ultimately just property damage, they've turned the town into a police state. Yes. But I still don't understand how in outrage you ruin other innocent peoples lives. Burning down businesses in protest is ignorant.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 10:41 PM) They've burned down buildings and are using molotov cocktails and possibly firing shots. Let's not try and downplay what the protesters are doing. The police response has been too much though. They will pay for it through the media, I have little doubt. Depends how extreme a response burning down innocent peoples buildings are. Hard working business owners.
  8. I know this is a f***ed up situation, but nobody gets anywhere by making racially charged Facebook posts.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 09:35 PM) Had Missouri kept him on the team the media would have destroyed them, but since OU is giving him a "second chance" it's OK. (And this coming from an Illinois fan) It's really f***ed up.
  10. It's funny. I could go out with you and help fix that, but on myself it takes so muc longer. Finally got to hit my new irons. At first was too steep just trying to hit the ball on the smaller club face but after I just got into my groove, wow. Much better "feel" than my G10s and the distance will take some getting used to. The ball flight on the short irons is lower but more ideal. This time they gave me a thinner grip and at first I was hesitant but really it made it easier to flip my hands on the longer irons. Loved not having the offset as well. Looks like I'll be keeping these bad boys.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) I've always been told this is what you need to do with you have an early release and are hooking the ball...you're need to emphasize keeping your swing "down the line" of the target. The last sentence is what is known as "bringing the club back wide." You'll see Rickie Fowler practice this takeaway before every swing. It helps you avoid bringing the club back on the inside with your arms or cocking your wrists early. Works for guys that swing across their bodies as well. Trying to keep the swing plane and force the hands over.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) So basically he had 1 off day other than a DL trip all season. You make a convincing case. He's clearly over-rested, that's why he looks so tired that you can see it through the booth. Thankfully nothing bad ever happens from physical exertion while overtired. Playing baseball especially 1B is not going to tire you out. And he's had more than one day off.
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) I literally have to turn my body to the left just to try and get it on the fairway. Youre probably just coming in steep. Try making sure your left shoulder is higher than your right when you set up with your driver, your head should be behind the ball. Then try to finish with the clubhead pointing at Right Center field. Another drill I do is keep the driver head as low to the ground as possible in my backswing, this forces you to rotate with your body instead of taking the club straight up with your arms.
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) Finally get to go golfing tomorrow.. Haven't golfed in over a year and only have done it a handful of times. I'm not that good but I want to start golfing more often and try and get better. The main problem I have is having a huge slice when driving or hitting the ball from a far distance.. I feel like it has to do with me playing baseball all my life. Coming outside in or over the top. Try hitting the ball to the RF'er.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) What are the rules for Ernie on the green? Does he have to make both putts? Or his first putt? Or can he make either of the two? if he makes one and misses one he has to play the miss.
  16. Putting is the X factor. Pro's gain a lot of shot on amateurs on the greens.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 10:39 AM) Ernie Els. It would be close depending on his bad misses. I've played two ball before by myself and you can get into the 70's but you arent going that much lower.
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) Man, I was so wrong about his rehab. Didn't think there was anyway he would be back for this year, let alone before September. Insane recovery. There was enough info out there to see this coming early.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) Kinda depends how the moisture got in there. Moisture has a lot more ways to enter a garage than a house, if it's just from normal usage, you can probably just clean it down with bleach. If it is coming in from outside leak, you probably need to address that. Its probably a small leak in the roof as the mold is in the ceiling drywall and only in two spots. I called a mold remediation guy and it seems kind of pricey for a garage.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) The West Loop is amazingly different from how it was in the late 90's when I started working in the city. You didn't even really want to walk around there if you didn't have to. Now with all of the condos and businesses that have gone in over there, is a great neighborhood, and it is a 10 minute walk from the financial district. Really in terms of what things cost in Chicago, it isn't even really expensive. It's increasing in price and will be much higher in the next 2 years. Time to move there is now as many of the original folks who started the growth are leaving.
  21. Black mold in the ceiling of my detached garage. Big deal or no?
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:04 AM) One of the rapists is back on the Steubenville football team. Can we just wipe that place off the map? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/11/m..._n_5669903.html Nobody would miss it.
  23. Get to hit these bad boys today, right now they have c-taper shafts for a lower ball flight, I am interested to see where that gets me.
  24. QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) Thanks for the opinions guys. Are there any specific shops to avoid (or go to) as far as looking for clubs or fitting goes? Or, are they all pretty much equally reputable? Yeah see whats nearest to you and try out a few, its kind of fun. some are free if they think you will buy.
