QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) If people are fitting the Note in their slim fit pants pockets just fine, the size of the One X and SGS3 are not too big AT ALL. Maybe it fits but it looks strange and probably feels strange. Those giant phones are about the size of Ti-85's now.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) In 2015, Cliff Lee will be 36 and making $25 million. Good luck to whatever team acquires that. Yet somehow such a better contract than Soriano's

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) He pretty much could steal somebody from the cuBS right now. They are desperate to sell and KW doesn't have to buy right now but could. How about Matt Garza if KW felt confident that he could back soon and his injury isn't serious? Definitely would be buying low on him. A Reed Johnson? A Marmol if Coop felt like he could fix him? They've been inquiring about Garza, Theo probably wants more than a utility infielder and a back of the rotation starter for him which is why we got Liriano

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) What will happen to those guys will depend a lot on whether the Sox can make the playoffs and what kind of ticket sales boost they get out of that. Yeah, I'm fairly positive Youk is already penciled in for next season.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) The Thome thing would make a good subject for a sociology doctoral thesis. Have engaged in many Tribe fans on this topic. It's a love/hate thing. Too many parts to make a simple analysis. The easiest way to describe it is abandonment by family member who tells you they love you and will never leave you... and then takes off in the middle of the night. The bitterness the Tribe fans show tells you how attached they were to him. They felt he betrayed them. Not necessarily rational, but emotional issues seldom are. Its very similar to the Buehrle situation for us. Our org basically made zero offer and he left for an actual large payday. Thome did the same and they booed him relentlessly. I would NEVER boo Mark Buehrle.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) Apple once thought that everybody preferred small screens. They were clearly wrong. Eh maybe, I dont want my iphone to be any bigger. I want to actually put my phone in my pocket.

I dont get the respect for Indians fans, I've found them to be terrible and knowledge-less. Booing Jim Thome is exhibit A.

Texting has really hurt my sources since I only hear about real phone calls. f*** technology.

SOX GAMETHREAD: THERE WILL BE NO NICKNAMES HERE, ONLY WINS
RockRaines replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2012 Season in Review
Brett Myers is a huge pickup. He will pitch in a lot of games down the stretch. More than a starter. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) in the squat you're just going straight down, bending only at the knees, so your thighs are parallel to the floor, then straight back up, weights never touch the floor. in the dead lift, you're holding the weights so that your palms are facing you, and the weights start on and return to the floor. also when you come up, squeeze your lats at the top. this way you target your glutes and lats at the same time and make sure your back is staying straight. in this one, your thighs go further than parallel to the floor. that help at all? Yeah the deadlift should be more of a bend at the waist than the squat, more lower back and glutes.

Hangover. He went out with Peavy in Dallas.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) i wonder if the sox ever were heavily after him like everyone was saying. when you think about it just didnt make too much sense(in terms of resigning him, him wanting to be here, even stone said they werent going to get him) second, dont know those players well but if the sox could have offered better. Personally from all I know, they werent. But I could be wrong.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:46 PM) If the DBacks are selling then why not give em a call about Ian Kennedy or Trevor Cahill? Joe Saunders is interesting as well.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) Hellweg and Ariel Pena are the two pitchers involved. All three guys traded are better than anything the Sox have in the minors by some accounts. I;m guessing it went like this: Viciedo and.... Will Zack sign an extension? No. *hangs up*
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) No suprise Sox just do not have the horses in minors to pull the deal off. Im guessing it was more like Greinke wanted NOTHING to do with the White Sox and we were told he had no interest in signing an extension.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Well now the Angels do. The Rangers arguably do. And not to mention this move will set the Rangers off to go out and acquire some guys. Thus overpaying, and taking the chances of us getting someone that will actual be worth the cost slim. Sorry this is bad news. Finally, who is are 1-2-3 a guy who hasnt started a season in the ML or shown he can last the while season and a deep run in October, a guy who's arm basically feel odds a few years ago and is back for the first time in three years who is always being overpitched, and a 23 year old minor league journeyman who is pitching lights out, who is also unproven in a full season. Sorry I think you guys are overvaluing the depth of our rotation right now. I'm personally very disappointed, and am deflated cause our chances of making a run in the playoffs just got a hell of a lot more difficult. Rangers: 3.02 3.88 3.43 White Sox 3.15 2.37 2.58 LAA 2.89 2.26 3.44 (in NL central) This one goes to your white sox. I guess you can bring in ancillary comments with your opinion but I choose to just look at facts and statistics.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) The bullpen right now is Reed, Thornton, Crain, Myers, Jones, Santiago and one or two others. That is pretty solid and no longer a weakness, IMO. I wouldnt be surprised to see him nab another late inning reliever but it will cost at least Mitchell and one of the younger pens arms in return.

QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) We actually had a shot at Hunter. We didn't stand much of a chance here. I'm 99% certain that there was little to no contact with Milwaukee.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) Sounds very unlikely Yup. Stranger things have happened but I would put it at a HARD no chance right now.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) Well that sucks. Now we can have an even harder time beating AL contenders. Now we better do something, and not a Ryan Dempster. Now we can all watch how Impactful Zack really is. With that time to go out and get drunk. Come on, who has a better 1-2-3 right now than us? We are in good shape and I think KW is actually deeper elsewhere.

Guess I dont need to respond to all the PM's then. There just wasnt much smoke from us around Greinke

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) Yeah, that would be pretty fun. Last year's game pretty much sucked. Both teams were pretty bad and the game was very uneventful for the most part. Going to to tough with these 9 league conference games coming up. Your team does play UCF this year. I dont think OSU should be worried but I think UCF will atleast provide a good test to see where your team is at going into conference play. I know George O'Leary and Meyer dont care for each other so it might make things a little more interesting. UCF has a RB named Storm Johnson who spent a year at Miami under Shannon before Golden ran him off. He is really talented and would be without question the Miami starter if he didnt transfer. UCF is going to be a sleeper team this year, I suspect they are bowl bound and a decent one at that. Yeah both of us sucked coming off good seasons and are kind of on the uptick. In a year or two would have been good timing especially since we lost the Vols and the Pac 12 games. -
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) I wonder what other bulllpen guy, KW is going after.. I'd guess Brandon League or Darren Oliver Jon Morosi @jonmorosi #WhiteSox haven’t ruled out possibility of adding another reliever, even after getting Brett Myers. JJ Putz would be an option. And I have to run to the gym and ill try and answer all the PM's ive gotten in the last hour tonight guys.

That statement basically is against any NCAA penalty ever, USC, OSU, U of M etc.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) Uh, Shields would certainly be cheaper than Greinke - and under control for 9 mill next year and 12 mill the year after. I hope Shields is the true target. Hmmm, good idea.
