  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) He fulfilled his legal obligations, no one is really questioning that. Actually in the State of Pennsylvania it is legally required to call the police in that situation.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) Ditka would be head coach for life, that's for sure. If the meatball fans called plays, they would run it on 1st & 2nd down every single time, cause that's "Bear Football!" With this Bears team, it SHOULD be fun on 1st and 2nd down.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) Probably. But if Paterno's was involved in the cover-up, I dunno why that wouldn't be included in the grand jury finding. There are a TON of FOIA requests going on to get all of the information out of this case. PSU is a public university and the press will be able to get files upon files including emails and internal investigation records. This story has not yet shaken out. If this gets to trial, watch out.
  4. Easier info from the GJ report: http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/press.aspx?id=6270
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:44 AM) Get a Keurig Nah, I've had the little packets/cups/whatever machines and i dont like them. I like fresh ground fresh brewed coffee.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) He did? That's not in the grand jury finding. it been in several stories as well as information that he didnt even speak or spoke very little at his retirement dinner. Several PSU sources have said their relationship soured at the end of the 90's.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) I hope every opposing fan is unrelenting and crass as can be. Paterno shouldn't have the chance to finish out the season. He should be out of a job at this very second. It really sucks that the football team is involved in the discussion at all. I wish we could take the PSU football team completely out of the context of this case and look at it just as it is, a really awful coverup of terrible repeated crimes.
  8. Anyone have a good grind n brew coffee maker? I live across the street from starbucks and even though its convenient, I would like to start making some of my own coffee.
  9. They are getting PP chances but arent finishing. I think thats something that will even out later down the road. PLaying guys like John Scott needs to stop happening though. They need to pick up one more D man and really take a look at Saad coming back on this roster.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) Because reporting laws generally rely on the head of an organization to report these allegations to the police. Where is the outrage over the grad student not reporting this to the police? Paterno did exactly what was required by law and if there was any training done by the University it would have told him to do exactly what he did. remember he's a University employee just like a faculty member or a librarian. From what we've read so far Paterno did not try to cover it up, he reported it. Well, he forced Sandusky into retirement after he first heard about it, and then still let the guy have access to both kids and his facilities for another 3-4 years before hearing about it again and finally banning Sandusky from having kids on campus (which he still did). That to me says he knew about it and basically said its ok as long as its not on campus and you arent a PSU employee. The Grad student met with Paterno at his house and told him what he saw and nobody picked up the phone and called 911 or child services or anything. Wouldnt you expect more from the most powerful man in State College? If that is considered "doing enough" then I dont know what has happened to people.
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Anyone care to share some links? From what I read Paterno was told by a grad student what the grad student thought he witnessed. At least one story makes it seems as if the student wasn't certain of what he actually saw, and didn't tell Paterno that the kid was being sodomized. It may have been "hey I saw these two in the shower and something just isn't right." Paterno followed exactly what the law required. Remember someone told him what they saw. Based on what I've read so far, I believe Paterno retiring at the end of the season is fine. I certainly can't hold him to a higher punishment than the person who actually saw what was happening and didn'treport it to police. I believe the law is/was grossly inadequate in these cases and am happy that, at least in Texas, there are further requirements. http://cbschicago.files.wordpress.com/2011...presentment.pdf Grand Jury report.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) The whole "don't bring kids onto PSU campus anymore" is the worst part. It's like they said, "We don't care what you do with your little boys, just keep the university out of it." The board of directors at his charity were informed what was going on as well (Thats YOU Matt Millen) and they only disassociated themselves from him.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) I guess the only thing I would say is that the players on the 2011 Penn State team bear no guilt in this, and taking two coaches away in the middle of a season damages their chances at a Big Ten championship and a chance to go to a BCS game, which is not fair to them. Plus, firing Paterno and McQueary right now is only symbolic and really doesn't help the victims any. A better option might be to strip Paterno of any honors he might have (honorary degrees, professor emeritus, name on buildings/streets, etc.), and make sure that McQueary never works in football again. What about the trophy that the Big Ten conference named after Paterno? I think thats going to be a sticky situation.
  14. Heres the Grand Jury testimony again on this page for easy access. I really hope the news stations make it a requirement to read it before commenting. http://cbschicago.files.wordpress.com/2011...presentment.pdf
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) It seems like the higher-ups at Penn State are treating this like Sandusky only had some weird sexual fetish which just shouldn't have taken place on campus. Do they realize how seriously awful his actions were? He was a f***ing child molester, not just some S&M freak. Their actions throughout this entire process have just been unexplainable. Some of his actions were partially funded and aided by PSU. That should be one of the main factors in cleaning house.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) FYI there's a one-time code for the Catwoman DLC included with the game--if you purchase a used copy, you'll have to buy that content. I'm taking a pass on this round for that reason and Batman/Skyrim eating up what little gaming time I have. I bought Batman last night off Amazon. I took a look at some of the walk throughs on youtube and I am pretty excited.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) Uh, yeah. Just letting him retire is ridiculous. No moral obligation whatsoever, I guess. The most powerful man in State College is hiding behind ignorance and is slipping through the cracks here. At this point, have respect for the kids that were incredibly neglected by the University and leave, all of you.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) Not even close to good enough. PSU could help this situation out by handling it correctly, and they are clearly dropping the ball. You need to clean house of anyone who knew anything about this.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) If that's what you were after, I think Miami-FL should have been your choice, not Miami-OH You are underestimating the real Miami. And of course there were other reasons I went there but clearly the sarcasm detector wasnt working this morning. If anyone knows anything about Miami and has been there you would see why anyone would choose that school. That plus the scholarship was a no brainer.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) Hm. Sorry to say this Rock, but I think the Ohio State girls takes the cake for least attractive. One of the main reasons I went to Miami was the superior p****. My money is on the hideous duke chick
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) espnchijon jon greenberg For their sake I hope Marlins took Buehrle to Miami zoo and told him he can shoot whatever he likes. You would think ozzie would have known that showing Mark the South Beach scene isnt exactly right up his alley. He likes to be near his hunting ground in Mizzou
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) I'm having soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun with Batman. I've played A LOT, the story is great, there's so much to do (it being an open world and all)... so many side missions... so many challenges... the counter says I'm 10% through the game lol. Plus, they have Nightwing and Robin add-ons, and more to follow... the game will keep you entertained for a very long time. So thats clearly a buy then. Maybe I can get a cheap one somewhere. I really like CoD games, but they get repetitive if you keep buying each version.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I can understand why he didn't make a scene and stop it. Everyone says they would, but sometimes in a situation like that you get scared and freak out and aren't sure what to do. Not everyone can play the hero role. That being said, after the fact, there is no reason why he didn't call the police to report what had happened. He definitely deserves more blame than he has been receiving. Right, given the cool down period and the conversation with his father, the cops should have been called by someone. This is so freaking sad.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) First of all...are we quite certain he only told the coach about it once? I believe according to the police report he was quite shaken up when he first made the report. Second, I'd still guess that the coaching staff told him to let them handle it, with some force behind that decision. Technically he called his dad first and based on the GJ report he then met with the coaches including Paterno at his house.
