QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) As a female, do you also believe she's going to be shacking up with the ex when she visits him? I mean, I am 100% positive about that. i second that, 100% certain.

QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) Just thought I'd offer some advice from a female's POV .....Leave her alone! She's got baggage (the ex)! She's playing head games with you, unfortunately, that's one of the greatest powers of a woman ..her ability to know just exactly what she has to do to keep you interested without having to commit. You, are a "back burner" guy, her reserve, so to speak ..why would you settle for that? She's not over the ex ..A.K.A. even if she did commit to you, she would cheat on you with him in a heart beat! ..let her go man, let her go! Trying to hold on to something that doesn't want to be kept, only gets you dragged through the dirt!! DO NOT pursue ..if the occasional flirt n make out is what you're looking for, then that's what you'll have when you run into her ..but anything more than that, she's no good for it. I say these things, not to discourage you, but just to offer a dose of honesty from the female perspective!!! I hope it helped ..even if it's just a smidge!! I love you. Great perspective. He could keep her on the back burner for a booty call, but thats about all you would get from this one. Friends with benefits.

I never realized you an actually compare the two players on statsheet http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/compare?p...mp;p2=dee-brown

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) I guess me and the national college basketball writers and coaches will agree to disagree. Well, if you think that award is proof that he is a better player, then there you go. I watched alot of their games that year, and Dee Brown was probably a bigger name because of his reputation, but Deron was the stud on that roster and its been proven right over the course of their bball careers. He was awesome in college.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) Brown won the Big Ten player of the year and was first team all american that year. Deron didn't and was second team. I think Deron had an amazing 2nd half of that year, but Dee was still a better collegiate player. Edit: And the Sporting News had Dee Brown as the national player of the year. Disagree from a non-Illinois fan perspective. Deron Williams was the reason that team was good. Dee Brown had a rep that drove alot of fanfare, but Williams carried that team.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 07:53 AM) Can he play first? I'd love to see him take over the backup 1b/DH role and send Kotsay packing. Maybe we can trade him to KC for Brian Anderson to bolster our bullpen of the future. Yes, he can play the corners in the IF at least and can be stuck in a corner OF position if needed. He should replace Kotsay.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) But I thought Miami was out of scholarships and I must have bad sources? Who said that? I said they didnt have open schollys which they dont. Of course one will open up eventually with the terrible academics of at least 6 recruits. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) Bye-Bye Niemi. ?

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) From a championship-winning perspective, he had NO help. When was the last time someone won a title without at least two elite players? You have to go back to Hakeem in 93-94 (which also happened right after the Celtics/Lakers/Pistons broke up and Michael retired, pretty weak year). I don't know when the previous time before that was, it was well before my time. One great player and a bunch of average to above average guys doesn't mean you have a championship-caliber core. It hasn't worked for Lebron, it didn't work for Garnett, it didn't work for Kobe, 99% of the time it just doesn't work. LeBron's age is a huge difference in this whole conversation. Who knows if Cle couldnt draft or acquire a future #2 guy for him. Shoot, people were already talking about CP3 joining him in Cle. It could have happened for him for sure.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) HAHA! Check out Lebron's mega-billboard in Cleveland. photochop.

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) I am just wondering if Leporn and his "team" expected this much backlash and negative press? Everyone expected some if he left Cleveland, but just the way it played out, and his borderline illiterate comments have made this into a complete debacle. It has to be one of the worst PR decisions ever. His PR/Mktg company is run by idiots. Its pretty well known.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) Again, you can't compare staying in Chicago or LA to staying in Cleveland. I can't even imagine how much complaining MJ, Bird, or Magic would have done with 7 years in the league and very limited help on the roster. There's no possible way of knowing what MJ, Kobe, Bird, Magic, etc would have done in the situation because they all had major help within 3 years. LeBron, or any other player in history aren't good enough to win a championship on their own. I think he finally figured that out. He came into the league with the bravado of being the best ever and he could do it on his own in Cleveland, and finally realized he couldn't and that nobody wanted to play there with him. So its the city that make the difference? Come on. He is 25 years old and he is already thinking he can NEVER win unless he packs it up and goes to Miami? Give me a break, he took the easy way out to win a title, was an incredible dick about it to the league and especially his home town and his legacy will suffer because of it. End of story.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) You can't stay in Cleveland and finish your business. Bosh wanted no part of playing in Cleveland. Boozer stabbed Cleveland in the back at the first chance he could find. It's not like LeBron was drafted into a FA destination location. He had to be moved to a different location for a championship, as not even Michael could win a title without another HOF player on the roster. This stuff is hilariously overblown. LeBron needed a star like Wade on the roster for a title, just like MJ needed Scottie, Kobe needed Pau, Robinson needed Duncan, etc etc. If Bosh would have agreed to Cleveland, none of this would have ever happened. The only legitimate gripe people should have is the horrendous 1 hour spectacle last night. That was just awful in every sense of the word. That's what happens when you have a childhood friend running your business. MJ stayed where he was until he got the pieces. He never bolted with such fanfare. Kobe stayed and waited for his title, then he waited to build his own championship team out of the shadow of Shaq. Robinson was a picture of team loyalty, waiting until the twilight of his career until they had the other piece to make him a winner. LeBron turned his back on his hometown and his team to take the easy way out. They arent even remotely comparable.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) I really, really hope that Hudson being forced into the rotation saves us from ourselves with Hudson. That being said, it could cost us Viciedo ultimately. I really want no part of trying to get Adam Dunn. The price tag was apparently Quentin, Beckham +prospect.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) Scottie was a HOF player, but it's hard to rate him as one of the top 5 players in his era. He's a top 50 all time right? If Scottie had the Shaq Wade had, he wins rings when Michael was retired.

Jordan > LeBron Pippen = Wade Rodman/Grant Bulls bench > Heat bench ???????

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) J4L, the mere fact we can even worry about this stuff right now is good enough for me. If we get to the playoffs, then great! Who knows, maybe the Tank will be our secret weapon against LHP. Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt was supposed to take us down at one point.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) Sabathia/Lee/Burnett/Pettite. Yeah, it's pretty much a wrap. Nah, Lee and Sabathia yes, but the other two, no.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Man, Rafael Furcal is some kind of hot right now...and I don't mean that in the Ricky Martin way. I watched about 5 mins of that game last night and 2 of them were when Furcal hit the go ahead HR off of Wells.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) When attending a hockey game....you never get up during the action. You wait for a stoppage in play, i.e., a whistle. Same goes for when you're returning to your seat. Wait at the top of the stairs for a whistle, then scurry to your seat. It's hockey etiquette 101. Congratulations, you now know more than about 50% of the Hawk fans that attended the playoffs this year. Its also true in baseball, never get up and move in the middle of an at bat. Of course 85 percent of fans forgot this rule.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) lol. well those pistons team didn't quite have the same level of talent the current Heat team will sport. I say that's a pretty big difference. They were deeper and MUCH stronger defensively.

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) That's true -- in fact, the harsh reality is that the Bulls have no chance to win a title in the next 10 years. If JR is true to his previously stated philosophy, he'll start selling off players soon. Noah will be the first to go, followed by Rose. Have fun with Boozer, because the Bulls philosophy dictates that Deng and Boozer have just cost the Bulls what young talent they have. I think we'll be seeing the NBA version of the white flag trade. Why even play the games then, just cancel the NBA.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 07:27 AM) Peter Gammons said on the Score that the Sox are the front runner for Dunn over the Angels. Angels executives believe Dunn will end up with the Sox. Well, our top trading chip has to be in the rotation for the rest of the season, so not sure we have the bullets.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 08:01 AM) According to whoever the Score just quoted (Sherman I think), the deal with the Yankees is done but Lee won't pitch against the Mariners in order to avoid embarrassment. Not done yet. BUt the price tag looks to be Jesus Montero.
