QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 13, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) LMAO, who chooses the singers of the seventh inning stretch? Seriously, one of the Duran Duran lead singers? How random sure beats the Fremd girls gymnastics team

why does the NBA have joey crawford officiate spurs games? couldnt they have sent him to detroit? i know the duncan thing is probably in the past but why even take the risk of the media stirring up a potential "controversy" should a bad call be made late in the game?

wow khal greenes HR woulda been gone no matter how the wind was blowing...how can the cubs justify keeping marquis in the rotation when they seem as though they have plenty of other options (gallagher, marshall, lieber)

QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Over/under on Cubs homers tonight is 3.5 Facing Shawn Estes with the wind blowing out 20 mph will make for a long game. 3 pitches...1 HR

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 05:15 PM) A college closer is not something you waste the 8th overall pick on. Royce Ring was the last time we guessed on a first round reliever. im not disagreeing by any means....just saying KW loves power arms and a closer did go #8 last year......by no means was in favor of it or even suggesting that it will happen...just saying that there have been crazier things

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 13, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) The Sox don't have a 2nd round pick, it went to the Brewers as compensation for the Linebrink signing. Plus there's 11 compensatory picks this year so the #1 pick in the second round will be #42 overall. Meaning the Sox second pick (#8 in the 3rd round) will be #79 overall. So there will be a 71 pick difference between the Sox's first and second draft choices. which is exactly why i will be pissed if we dont go best player available regardless of cost...we dont have to pay a guy in the second round, so why not use that money to go over slot with our 1st pick....that or take a guy in the 3rd who is only there for signability reasons and throw a bunch of money at him...like what the cubs did with the samardijza

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 13, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) ESPN had an article the other day predicting Beckham to go 1 or 2 i believe you have the wrong beckham from the state of georgia....espn said hed Tim Beckham would go 1 or 2...gordon (no relation, different skin color) could very well be there at 8 interesting that he says that after presumably watching Alvarez over the weekend...though vandy was playing georgia, so he may have been there watching Gordon Beckham or even Josh Fields (could the white sox have their third josh fields in like 5 years).....if we take fields id be pissed, but the top college closer in the country went #8 overall last year, could happen this year too....of course there was lots of good talent on display that could be available in later rounds as well.... that mock draft is awful btw....im guessing that was from earlier in this year...gordon beckham is a top ten pick....SS who hit 22 HR in the SEC and hit over .400 dont fall to the bottom of round 2...and no way in hell crow isnt a top 8 pick as well...at least i hope not, as long as we are picking 8 Besides it doesnt even take into consideration the compensation or sandwich picks...we dont even have a 2nd rounder this year

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ May 13, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) MB has not been good and it is somewhat worrying. However, please don't point to his record last year. That's such trash. He pitched great last year. yeah W-L is basically one of the least telling stats (no matter what hawk says) even if W-L did matter....10-9 for a team that lost 90 games is quite good actually
-
mark and AJ are delusional to think that pitch was a foot off the plate inside....besides if the guy hits a HR on balls a foot off the plate outside and inside...why the fork are we pitching to him with a base open???

there are so many guys in the NL having MVP type years its ridiculous, especially when considering the fact that no offensive players in the AL are having typical MVP type years (hamilton youk manny or quentin...but probably cliff lee) in the NL you have utley berkman chipper burrell dlee hanley ramirez and even nate mclouth and ryan ludwick all having pretty ridiculous years

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 12, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) game AJ looked at two very very hittable changeups..... how the hell does AJ swing at such garbage 95% of the time and then take strike 1 2 and 3 -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2008 -> 12:28 AM) No, what happened? reds up 3, 2 outs in the ninth bases loaded....routine fly ball to right....griffey has it pop out of his glove and it drops in....a batter later, reds up 1, still loaded with two down....deep ball hit to right, griffey ranging back ball hits in his glove, pops out, but he is able to regain control of it with his throwing hand and glove before it hits -

QUOTE (tommy @ May 13, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) Jermaine Dye is solid for us again this year. i only hope that if he is still hitting well at the allstar break that KW trades him and learns from PK and Thomes struggles that it will be better to trade a guy a year early rather than a year late -
it would appear that kenny williams has a nack for trading pitchers a early instead of a year late.... unfortunately you cant say the same for hitters

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 12, 2008 -> 11:58 PM) Ehren needs to go down, but dont call up Mac. Broadway stays as well as he'll be the first starter called up if injury. I say Dewon Day gets the first callup, although Adam Russell hasn't looked bad down at Charlotte either. wheres bret prinz when you need him
