  1. QUOTE(lostfan @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) They are also Patriots fans, and the same rule applies. i moved to boston back in august and the red sox are a pretty big deal out here...not sure if the red sox hysteria lived up to the hype, but i will admit they are a pretty big deal....that said i absolutely and utterly cannot believe how little of a deal the patriots are...they are having arguably the best season ever for a team and have won 3 of the past 5 super bowls...and i still feel like the 5-8 bears have captured the heart of chicago more than the patriots have the new england fans
  2. frank thomas's odds of being elected to the hall of fame just went up alot imo....
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Brian McNamee will be targeted for character assassination since he's only associated with two names, and two big names at that. he told an independent investigator what he knew....seems like he didnt really assassinate the characters of those names to me , but im far from anyone who knows anything abotu the law so i have no idea
  4. very interesting to read that upper officials were very concerned about tendon injuries with guys like gagne and brown....they really seem to think tendon/connective tissue injuries are a strong sign of steroid use because the muscle builds up but not the tendons, and the connective tissues tend to collapse udner the added strain of the bulkier muscle
  5. one of the most interesting things mitchell said was that the potential of using/having used steroids was a tool used by scouts and team officials in assessing players
  6. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) And Parque hadn't begun yet. adam piatt, another local guy named too...
  7. mods, in the interest of reporting fact and to clear up any confusion regarding this....can we delete the posts that had the lists from deadspin and the other "sources" as they are not accurate and include players who have not been mentioned in the report
  8. mitchell really emphasized the fact that this list is certainly not entirely inclusive adn that far more players who arent mentioned are certain users...basically this whole thing is saying steroids was so widespread that the games integrity of this era needs to be questioned
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) Once we get guys like Roberts out of the game, these guys will be recognized as the good guys of this era. perhaps, but lets not forget that bigbie and guys like canseco were users themselves...and canseco is the self described godfather of this era...he was instrumental in all of this...... this is such a huge day in baseball history...in my mind this tarnishes the entire era in the mind of hte public...it was something that we all saw coming for a long time, but i think that today with this report coming out, the eye of the public will finally and with out doubt view this era as the steroid era
  10. reading the clemens thing....this is pretty concrete evidence of steroid use if you ask me .....no hall for him i suspect
  11. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Brian Roberts Brian Roberts is an infielder who has played for the Baltimore Orioles since 2001. He has been selected to two All-Star teams. Roberts and Larry Bigbie were both rookies in 2001. According to Bigbie, both he and Roberts lived in Segui’s house in the Baltimore area during the latter part of that season. When Bigbie and Segui used steroids in the house, Roberts did not participate. According to Bigbie, however, in 2004 Roberts admitted to him that he had injected himself once or twice with steroids in 2003. Until this admission, Bigbie had never suspected Roberts of using steroids. In order to provide Roberts with information about these allegations and to give him an opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he declined. interesting to see how guys like bigbie who "ratted out" guys like roberts will be treated from here on out
  12. no mention of thome in the report....only mentions of thomas have him being helpful to the investigation and have him quoted along with tony gwynn about calling for testing and speaking out about how its unfair that others are using
  13. um so jeremy schapp just said the mitchell report has dozens of pictures of checks from guys like vina, rondell white, who arent on those lists mentioned before to the mets clubhouse guy for roids....mitchell report also had something that said clemens asked about some steroid from his trainer, his trainer told him not to take it, so he went to canseco to get it....clemens trainer also said that he himself had injected clemens with a different type of steroid, winsterol or something....mitchell report will be posted on mlb.com
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Spataro was right SI. ALL HAIL SOXTALK! well, he wasnt really right...he said they tested positive...which still has never been true... could there be consipiracy theories that baseball hid those positive results because they were "fan favorite" type guys...possibly but id like to think major league baseball and the players union were better than that...but in all seriousness it wouldnt shock me if we found out at some point in the future that they did protect guys like that
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) I think you are way off on this. Most owners don't know that much detail of the day to day lives of their players, I'd bet. They probably all had the GENERAL idea that they were out there and prevalent - but I doubt they had much info about specific players. you dont hand out millions of dollars without finding out alot about players...including what their training is like...lets face it...everyone knew...it was likely one of those "do i really know" type things....the owners may have never actually seen the players taking roids, but they knew....its like...ive never seen britney spears having sex...but i know shes a slut
  16. everett did move willie over to third though in game 4....not that it mattered...he woulda scored anyways
  17. several prominent yankees will be named according to espn....that probably is clemens and pettitte, but i wouldnt be shocked if arod, damon abreu pop up either
  18. Pettitte will be in too....from the same source that reported clemens....via espn
  19. Clemens was just confirmed on espn tv as well .....i love it!
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Agustin Montero hahaha oh god i remember ozzie brought him in once to face someone...i cant remember exactly who it was but it was like vlad or someone....i was ready to kill ozzie and augstin "the matador" montero struck him out.....i just about cried in laughter
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 06:02 PM) I don't think any current sox will be there, but from the past Jose Canseco and Carl Everett (just guessing on Carl) i think you are naive to believe that no sox will be on it... (or at least naive to believe no sox have used, whether they got caught by the mitchell report is another thing) but we will see tomorrow, i could be wrong and end up with my foot in my mouth, but well see tomorrow
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) What's disheartening about acquiring Hamilton, we could of gotten him this time last season. Would have solved a few problems we're facing now. lol i believe the cubs are the team that got him in the rule 5, and they then traded him to cincy...ill bet theyd rather have him than paying 50 mil to a player who hasnt played on this side of the pacific before
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Good post. I am not sure I would want to trade Danks for Hamilton though. me neither...especially considering the question marks surrounding our rotation...we need those innings for cheap from a young guy too....if you ask me danks' career has left handed jon garland written all over it
