  1. good move more both clubs....rays could really compete in 2 years or so...kazmir garza shields and price could be a mirror image of what detroit has with their young guns...add to that longoria and brignac waiting in the wings to add to crawford upton and maybe even dukes if he ever gets straightened out....especially if pena sticks around and continues to produce thats gonna be a dangerous team
  2. delmon young walked 26 times last year in 645 Abs...hes never shown a good eye in the minors, he does have power and will certainly develop more than 13 HR power in his future but im not nearly as high on him as some are....i also think the twins are moving towards full out rebuilding...santana will probably be dealt and nathan is likely to follow...they will have a nice core though with young, morneau, mauer, liriano, and potentially adding melky hughes + other prospects + what htey could get for nathan (who has arguably been the best closer since taking over in 04
  3. QUOTE(Harvin4Heisman @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) This shocks me. What doesn't shock me is the fact that this is happening OVER AND OVER to athletes. They have to quit hanging out in the old "hood". "Keeping it real" can also be "keeping it stupid." ps-I am not trying to diminish what happened here, just trying to get across the point that when you're a famous athlete w/ $$$$, be careful who/where you hang out. taylor was always mixed in with the wrong crowd, and was hardly and exemplary nfl role model....but nonetheless this is certainly a sad story and i feel for the family
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) Somehow someway OSU will get in it and win it. yeah i think WVU takes care of business, and mizzou loses to oklahoma leaving OSU WVU in the national championship with OSU scoring at will while pat white and slaton can't quite put up enough
  5. looks like nobody else in baseball likes this deal http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index...me=olney_buster
  6. the money is reasonable, and i actually thought linebrink was older than 31, i just think 4 years is too many....3 would have been better, especially since we dont give pitchers long term deals, but hes an improvement and hopefully will contribute...he actually did better in mil last year than i thought he would
  7. at least he didnt do gay porn like the last asian guy they signed
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) Losing Chris Young hurts that tolerability as happy as i am to see pods gone....it is sad seeing so many pieces of that 05 team now gone....oh well, they werent gonna stay around for ever, and in looking at 08, 05 was 3 seasons ago
  9. if we trade konerko i would peg us as instant front runners to land miguel cabrera or carl crawford, assuming we landed soem young prospects for pk and they would be packaged in some sort with some package of gio/dls/sweeney etc to get one of those guys
  10. KW definitely said this is a carlos lee type deal, and that every move is a prelude to another that we will make...that was in response specifically to a question about the money, so we are doing something soon
  11. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) Next Up: Sign Andruw Jones Trade for Crisp Trade Crede Sign/Trade for Reliever LF Crisp SS Cabrera DH Thome 1B Kornerko CF Jones RF Dye CA Pierzynski 3B Fields 2B Richar That could be a 250hr team. thats an unreal defensive team too....especially if you keep uribe around and plug him in at 3b.....i think this move means more that crede is gone than uribe....if we play fields at 3b everyday, crede is useless and uribe provides a good defender who can come in late for josh

QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Blue Sky Mine - Midnight Oil spirit in the sky - norman greenbaum smells like teen spirit - nirvana
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) Erin Andrews and it isn't close at all. yeah...rachel nichols isnt gorgeous....shes decent looking, and the fact that she reports on football behind the scenes makes her as one of those girls who is "hotter than she really is"....but E.A. is downright hot
  15. i really dont pick sides when it comes to global warming, and in fact i tend to agree with coleman that it is an overblown media pushed thing (which isnt to say its not occuring) but it would certainly be nice if he actually provided some evidence other than simply saying i have read a bunch of papers, talked to a bunch of people and i know i am right
  16. im pretty sure like 90 % of omar infantes hits and HR were against the white sox so im glad to see him gone
  17. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Has anyone seen Hunter's splits vs LHP the last 3 yrs? He's killed them. .308/.365/.547 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/spli...p;type=batting3 impressive....lets see how he does when he has to face his former teammate
  18. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) He's definitely athletic enough to make the switch, but I don't think it's necessary. It's not like we HAVE to get his bat in the lineup. Plus our minor league IF depth, is not great. I guess it depends on how many years that FA 2B is signed for. agreed...guys who can hit .280 with 15-20 HR and play LF are easy to find....2b not so much
  19. i think people underestimate richar a bit ....anyone realize that he had 19 HR between the bigs and AAA last year?....thats more than brian anderson and ryan sweeney have had at that level of baseball and he is still only 24....plays a decent 2b, will be able to run a bit...the biggest question i will have with him will be his ability to get on base, and from what i saw of him he at least wont give away as many ABs as a guy like uribe
  20. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) Gio talks surprise me some. The team seemed so high on him and he showed good poise in his September call up. I sometimes question KW's take on young players. you mean the poise showed in the september callup he didnt get?
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 10:43 AM) I should just save this post in Word, because I use it every few weeks, but I still believe the Sox view Gio as a trade chip, and not as a future starter for the club. The Sox seem to know what works for Gio, and know he has value on the market. I will not be shocked IN THE LEAST to see Gio moved, and won't really have too much of a problem if they get value. Just don't sell him for scraps. yeah i agree with you...KW has traded away alot of prospects for quite a bit of major league talent that has helped us significantly...so i will accept the fact that our farm system is abysmally bad....however its times like now, when our major league team 1.) stinks, 2.) is getting old, that we need to rely on guys to develop.....which is why fields and danks i believe are so criticial to this teams success in about 2 years....that said, its also a joke that we arent refilling our system through the draft like we should....
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Not as much as you would think. exactly....fielding percentage is so horridly overrated.... rob neyer wrote a really good article on espn insider about this years gold gloves....i can't reasonably believe that people are willing to give the ROY to tulowitzski over braun because of his defense , but still wont vote tulo for gold glove?
  23. i know erick aybar is young and was a strong prospect at one time...but his slugging and obp were both under .300 last year...thats not bad, thats abysmal...who cares if he is fast
  24. adam everett stinks offensively, arguably one of the worst hitters in the majors, yes worse than uribe...near jason kendall and brad ausmus....however, he is one of the few SSs who is actually an upgrade over uribe defensively...that said why does KW insist on finding sub .300 obp guys to play SS?
