  7. any guesses about what that is....my guess is somethign along the lines of...."i love freddy, but he was lazy and liked to party and wasnt comitted to gettting better".....which quite frankly as much as some of us like to harp on ozzie prolly is the truth

  9. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) LMAO the nashville sounds have thirsty thursday specials (1 dollar for a 10 oz beer) so we went and sat next to the iowa cubs pen....we heckled pretty good and aardsma was by far the coolest guy there...he came over and stood by us for like 2 innings and just talked to us. we kept going on and on about michael wurtz when he was warming up and aardsma didnt care cuz he hated him anyways...he was just a real cool guy and was talkin to us abotu the bars he liked in nashville....def. a party type guy so hopefully he doenst get on ozzies bad side

  11. Don't forget about the game saving play in the hole against cleveland that led us to hear hawks famous "JOE CREDE!" in extras, also helping catapult the sox into the playoffs......but yeah the final 2 of the WS are better
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Well, nice walk by Green there. These refs are just pathetic in this tournament. Vanderbilt was robbed. it was a joke....we got f***ed........if they can overturn 3 pointers with a guy on the line they should be able to overturn something that was so obviuosly a travel....
  13. Lieber is not horrible...he has been a somewhat effective pitcher in recent memory...the problem is he costs a ton, is an injury concern and is old. that said i wouldnt trade for him, but hes not garbage like some on here are saying
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) So, as of today, Darin Erstad is hitting this spring: .275, with an OBP of .302 and a slugging %age of .333. Yes, that's right, he's having such a great spring that his OPS is at .635. He's also leading the team in strikeouts. And he's leading the team in at-bats. i agree with you that erstad statistically is bad...but part of me says id rather have him batting 2 than iguchi simply because if the #2 hitter is gonna be a situational guy that ozzie loves (not saying i agree with the strategy, just syain how it is) than why not have the guy who can only be a situational hitter there? Iguchi's potential for power is wasted having him sac. and hit behind the runner. so putting erstad at 7 or 8 or 9 is like having a situational hitter at the bottom with AJ/crede in front of them, which is not so valuable AND iguchi hitting situationally at 2. May as well let iguchi swing for the fences at 7 since he can hit some dongs if erstad can be the guy giving himself up.......... however, i do hate the fact taht we are using the #2 hitter to situationally hit when the 3,4,5, hitters combines last year for 120 HR last year......it should be someone who gets on base....which i suppose iguchi is our best bet....so the other part of me knows that iguchi is a better bet there.....i just hate the way ozzie uses him when he is at the 2 hole
  15. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) And Vandy win gives me my first Elite 8 team gone from the tourney..damn you Wazzu! who ya wit.....VU!
  16. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 01:03 AM) Friends I spoke to today told me Price's 'stuff' is unbelievable. Best they've ever seen in four years of collegiate baseball. I didn't ask them about Weathers, though. I'm definitely interested in watching Vanderbilt this year in the College World Series. Price is just nuts.....10 IP today, 2 ER, 2 BB 4 H 14 K.....thats his third straight complete game with 11+ Ks
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:58 AM) A couple of Sox references from the new Peter Gammons post: • Two obscure names? Scouts rave about Tiger lefty Edward Campusano, who had 81 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings in A-AA last year; White Sox RHP Adam Russell ticking 97-98; and Adenhart, the Angels' right-hander, who may be a factor on that staff before it's over. • The Red Sox were told that Jon Garland is not available. Period. its interesting that the bosox would be interested in garland, given that hes a contact type pitcher...i suppose it represents the fact that alot of stat based organizations are going hard after extreme ground ball pitchers...and garland is set to hit his prime the next couple years.
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 11:53 PM) Last Friday, UIC traveled to Nashville to face #1 ranked Vanderbilt. While they lost all three games, the first two (2-1, 1-0) were hard fought decisions. David Price, as one may expect from the nation's top pitching prospect, dominated in Game 1: -9 innings, 4 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, 16 strikeouts. If Tampa Bay doesn't draft him first I may cry. Hell, even if he goes first Kansas City still has Cole St. Clair or Matt Harvey to choose from. People may think I'm crazy, but I could definitely see the Royals turning themselves around within the next three/four years if Hochevar/whomever is drafted this year project to their abilities. Their offense certainly won't be a problem. supposedly price hit 99 four or five times during that game....casey weathers was sittin 97-98 in game 2....both guys are down right nasty
  19. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) It is Anderson, Podsednik, Fields, Sweeney, Terrero, and Perez in the mix for the final two roster spots. They have already said it will be an 11 man pitching staff. So for the bullpen, they basically have two positions available to Aardsma, Masset, Haeger, and Logan. Logan seems to have the edge as a Lefty and with his performance so far. That leaves one spot for Aardsma, Masset, and Haeger. if we have an 11 man pitching staff i doubt we carry 3 lefties
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) New poll out...FSU to 5, CSUF up to 7 and Rex's Evansville squad re-enters the rankings at 25. And Palehose's Tarheels remain the #1 ranked team in the country. dont forget my commodores at #2....also 17-0, actually are #1 in another
  21. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) that is an excellent point. i think this a HUGE year for javy and for some reason i think he is going to deliver. call it a hunch (or just call me crazy) im not calling you crazy at all. the numbers from last year tell me that his ERA was higher than what it should have been and hopefully he can continue to improve....however so many people on here want to just tell you that he is a headcase and cant pitch under pressure
  22. i dont go to u of i, but i understand why people would be upset over this. Taking him away is kind of like taking away the exploding scoreboard from sox games, or taking the ivy off of the wall at wrigley. The dance is part of the team and institutions history, and part of who they are. While it may appear to simply be "some drunk frat boy" (as some of the not so elegant posters here claim) to many people it is one of those things that help identify them as the fighting illini. That said I understand that to some the dance is offensive, (even though i find it more honorable than offensive) and that there is legit reason to get rid of it. But for those in this thread to come in and say "you are a moron for being upset by this" simply shows a lack of respect for those who are proud of a tradition that lasted for many years. It is a tradition that many people who attended or were fans of the university are proud of and indentified with. That said, I do think it was excessive for those who were balling at the game last night. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the Chief should or shouldn't go, I just think that some people have the right to be upset over this, and that others on this board have no reason to tell them otherwise
