QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Linkity. Well, anyone who wants Soriano...are you willing to beat that price by quite a bit? i heard on one of the espn podcasts that some mlb officials were thinking that he would make somewhere between 16-18 per year... they brought up a good point...i guess one GM was quoted saying "why would i trade a bunch of young pitchign for arod at 16 million, when i can sign soriano for near the same, or 1 million more, without having to give up the pitching. And you know sorianos head is screwed on right, arods may not be"
-
if only arod had hit .300 against detroit, lidle woulda been prepping for a game, not flying...i blame arod... im probably going straight to hell
-
uribe had a .257 on base percentage in 2006....i dont need to say anything else
-
everyone talks about brians secodn half....but am i the only one who thinks his second half still wasnt very good....i mean .257 .301 .393 still stinks..........im not sayin he won't be a good ballplayer, but i think people tend to overrate his second half...
-
while i remain high on price, dont count on any #1 pick being a sure thing, guys get hurt, fizzle out etc....its all part of the gamble
-
Ive seen price pitch probably 20 times, and hes absolutely nasty....can touch 96 with the fastball, 85 with the slider...the guys on the baseball team at vandy say his slider is big unit-esque....he tinkered with a change up this summer and is gonna use it more often this year....he also figured out a kink in his delivery where he dropped his arm angle when he started to struggle last year, and corrected it this summer...adn then he exploded for team USA. the comparisons to andrew miller have been there, but i havent seen nearly enough of miller to confirm that...hes also a guy who loves to compete and wants the ball...his energy on teh mound reminds me of dontrelle. the best i saw him was against Arkansas (then ranked 12 i think) and he went 8 (maybe all 9, i cant remember) and struck out 17 while allowing just 1 hit to the second batter of the game.

if we are looking to fill LF and CF, im assuming that 1 of them will come internally, from a competition of BA, fields, sweeney, maybe mack if its for LF.....the other is a guy i wanted to see at the deadline, adn thats eric byrnes.....he hit his 25th homer of the year and went 25/25 this year...hes also a grinder and ozzie and KWs type of guy
-
I realize people don't want to spend money on a backup catcher, and i agree....but regardless...chris stewart isnt the answer....its tough for me to fall in love with a guy who had an OPS of .707 in a tiny ballpark in charlotte

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) In some states, yes, I believe. But it is virtually never prosecuted. I mean, why bother? the intent, i believe, is to legally force the patient to get psychiatric help, as opposed to actually prosecute him criminally

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) That data shows me how flawed the projection system is (PETCO?) and how little one show pay both money and attention to that crap. PECOTA never projects anyone to hit like over .310 and over 35 homers, it takes into consideration that every player has the possibility of getting injured. For instance, lets say thome has a 1 in 3 chance of getting injured and missing most of the year. His projected totals go down by 1/3 to compensate. Its like vegas odds, they dont tell you what will happen, but tell you what has teh best odds of happening. VORP IIRC does not take into account defensive stats either, which would raise uribe and anderson, but probably not to the point that they should still have had every day jobs...that is if you buy into any of these stats
-
An initial police report that came out said he had attempted suicide, and took up to 35 pills and was taken to the hospital and had a stomach pump. the police chief then said he had no idea how that got out or who released it, essentially because it contained personal info...we will know when the 911 tapes come out what happened for sure...but if i had 100 bucks id say he really did try to kill himself

Anyone else still gonna watch?? Lets get to 92 wins
-
ive said it before...i want 0 part of chris stewart near the big league team next year...

QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Who wants to bet that Ozzie plays a pretty much everyday lineup tomorrow? some guys have incentive clauses if they get to various milestones....besides 6 games at teh end of the year against the indians AAAers and probably the twins AAAers wont tell us much about our youngsters...so im ok if ozzie has the everyday lineup out there...especially against the twins, cuz i want them to end up with teh WC and not division
-
its easy to say in hindsight, but i said it after last year and got laughed at....if the sox are gonna deal buerhle, they shoulda done it last year...all those innings were bound to catch up to him, and you gotta deal when guys stock is higher than it will be the following season....beane did it with mulder and hudson...its one reason why crede should for sure be considered being dealt this offseason
-
man i dont give a f|_|ck about what the damn expectations were for this team but all i freaking know is we are a sox win and a minny loss tonight away from 3.5 back...an offensive hot streak when we hit minnesota at the end of the year could put us in....is it probable? no. but sh*t was it probable going into the 05 season that we were gonna win the series? no. until that minny magic # hits 0 they can kiss my ass because this team still has teh capability of throwing a 11-1 stretch together. I'm sure as hell not giving up cuz i know those guys on the field and in the dugout arent, and quite frankly we should expect nothing less of the fans than we do of the guys on the field and thats to give 100% every game, every day
-
i come back and see 1 pitch......yikes
-
the mighty santana has lost....at least his team did
-
great job by morneau to take what the pitcher gave him and just lift one to left center for hte sac fly

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) Pathetic D by Marte to start the inning too. He's not a good defender. mauer grounds out to 1st....if garko comes up with the ball cleanly hes got a play at the plate, but he at least got the 1 out

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) Before the game ends, I figure I should thank the Angels broadcasters for making it fun to watch with Freddie today. Some guys might be homers and be pissed about it, but they were excited. i listened to those angels announcers in the first 2 games of the series....they are by far the best ive heard all year
-
ive been a big freddy basher most of the year...but man he really stepped up...our pitching is clicking at the right time...this team could be extremely dangerous in teh playoffs
-
fields in left

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) Im just glad Mark got "it" back last night, and gave "it" to Freddy for today. this team is dangerous if they make the playoffs
