That first Sunday Night Game agianst the Twins...
daa84 replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 07:00 AM) Who is scheduled to start for both teams? I believe, if both teams keep their rotations set, it will be the 6th game of the year for both teams, setting up buerhle vs. radke, who i believe got the nod over santana, lucky for us, we wont see santana in that series -
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) So.. Knights here comes Bochard!! KW, do something right for a change and cut him, The Mexican league figured out he sucks, why can't you.. why should we cut him? throw him in AAA. he cant hurt anything, you have to pay him even if you cut him, so put him in AAA or even AA and hope something clicks. If it doesnt, he can go after his contract

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Yes, wish his partner wasn't though. really? i thought DJ sucked his first 2 years but i think hes an above average broadcaster now. Stone is a damn good announcer but he doesnt know when to not talk. He constantly talks during the entire broadcast and feels teh need to try to analyze everything. as hawk says, its not always saying the right thing at the right time, but also not saying something at the right time

jw how you got the entire list?

QUOTE(bulokis @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) I saw clips of the intrasquad games from CSN and newscast. Fox showed Young crashed into Aceves at the plate. Saw Fields hit a HR too. Borchard said he felt pretty good, i'm still hoping for him to do good. chisox.com said it was owens, not young... Defensively, Aceves also survived a collision at the plate with Jerry Owens, stopping short the would-be run in the fourth inning.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Sounds like he is still scared to steal to me. sounds like it, but.... Leading off the second inning of Monday's second White Sox intrasquad game at Tucson Electric Park, Willie Harris dropped down a perfect bunt for a base hit. He immediately swiped second base and moved to third on a fly ball to Joe Borchard in right.

its nice to see fields and sweeney do something off a vet who knows how to pitch like el duque

seriously this is the problem with the damn media. They are trying to make this thing a much bigger issue than it really is. the circumstances under whcih ozzie and magglio left are completely different. magglio was offered a contract and was hurt, there should be no harm in how he left. ozzie prolly should never have said those things, and he realizes it now, but you know what, its 7 years later. he learned from his mistakes, and is along with kenny williams share the passion about this team that makes white sox fans unique. mariotti and rogers, please. quit being those guys in the media.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Tracey won't get on the list because in the top 10 White Sox prospects Fields was a spot ahead of him. Therefore, Anderson, BMac, and Sweeney (in that order) will all be in the top 75. yeah i guess you are right, i was also proved wrong as ryan harvey lands at 66 for the cubs, no chisox prospects in 50-75

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) I hope you aren't implying that the Red Sox's farm system is good. Can you name some of their prospects besides Hanley Ramirez for me? i'll agree the bosox farm sucks, but dustin pedoria
-
baseball america just came out with 75-100 top prospects, Fields lands at 95 with Iguchi right behind him at 96. i guess you consider him a prospect. interestingly enough angel guzman has fallen to 88 for the scrubs, who will probably have only pie and dopirak in the top 100, sox should land anderson sweeney mccarthy and maybe tracey http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/featu...228top1001.html

QUOTE(GoArow33 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) That pic is ridiculous, paulys a big guy and canseco is huge next to him. I heard the pics in his book are absolutely nuts

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Anyone else think there's kind of a comparison between Anderson and Byrnes? yes the hair

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) 'Tad' goes horribly with our supposed new hard nose, take no crap image. It's wimpy and it sux, Tadpole is worse....but I'm sure Hawk's lame, country ass will be all over it. Didn't he come up with 'Saxy' for Steve Sax?? Here's the pitch by 'Softie', ground ball to 'Tad', over to 'Saxy' for one, over to 'Hottie' at 1st for a double play. good point but...the nickname has absolutely no effect on the type of ball the sox play.

QUOTE(southsider17 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) Interesting look at the real closers: Closers Let's hope Marte reverts to form this year. the underlying theme in that article is exactly right, and was a sentiment alos explained by jerry manuel a few years ago when he said that you dont alwasy need your closer in the 9th, the most crucial situation could be in the 7th or 8th. I have always held the belief that the closer is the most overrated position in all of baseball, and is used incorrectly. They are most often used improperly and rarely see the toughest situation. The proof is evident. watch the mlb playoffs. all of a sudden when teh game is must win, you see closers coming in during the 7th inning and pitching 2 or 3 innings (as lidge smoltz rivera and nathan all did...foulke too). This doesnt mean that the closer shoudl never pitch teh ninth for a save, it just means he should not be held exclusively for the ninth, especially when he is most often the teams best relief pitcher. the one problem i have with teh argument in the article is that i see know harm in bringing the closer in teh ninth with when you are up 3 if the closer is in no danger to be overworked. you are trying to win a game, and using your best pitcher to do so. If your closer is in danger of getting overworked, then yes, it is a mistake to pitch him with a 3 run lead when another reliever can do the job.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) Tad it is... good, i like tad...its simple, i can definately see it evolving into tadpole at some point

I know when pierzynski was in minn. gardenhire loved him, he was one of his favorite players. I just hope this "he needs to change" business from KW is only about minor issues in the clubhouse, and not on the field. Im looking foward to seein AJ barrel over derek lee at 1b the way he tried to with big frank a few years back

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) This is the same as Sosa always bringing up the Cubs still...both Sosa and Maggs need to talk about their new teams and forget about what they've left behind in Chicago. Oz called a spade a spade...and I'm glad he did. Enjoy the Tiglets, Magglio...aside from Percy, they've got a pitching staff full of 4.50+ ERA's throughout...good luck with that. -y2 its not the same as sosa....sosa is still asked about the cubs and was released because of problems he had. maggs was released cuz his contract was up. Sosa has more of a right to talk about the cubs cuz that was a bigger issue. THis maggs stuff has gone too far...seriously, what is he trying to accomplish? KW never tried to make it sound worse than it was, he stated the facts so that the fans would know why more of an effort wasnt made to pursue him...otherwise the fans woulda gotten on KW for letting him go. for as little as maggs talked while he was in chicago, he sure is talking in motorcity. i liked him alot better when he kept his damn mouth shut

QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) There was a special edition of Baseball Tonight earlier. The Sox got dissed three different times, although each was subtle: 1. They talked about the Cubs chances this year and someone said, and I quote: "The Cubs are the only curse in town these days" referring, of course to the Red Sox winning the World Series. I understand White Sox fans don't like to say our team is "cursed" but still, how could a team without a WS since 1917 be ignored in that discussion? 2. They did a piece on Sosa and Karl Ravetch said that Chicago fans would get to see Sammy when makes a trip to Chicago this year. He said it won't be at Wrigley though, it'll be at, and I quote: "(long pause)... US.... US... Cellular... Field.... that's what they call the place the White Sox play these days, right?" Good lord. 3. In their discussion of the AL Central, Gammons said Minnesota had the best offseason. Steve Phillips disagreed, he said Detroit did better. Then someone else chimed in that Cleveland could be better than all of them. No mention of the Royals - and deservedly so... but none of the White Sox either. Wow. Please, quit complaining. I saw baseball tonight and 1.) who cares about the stupid curse stuff...nobody talks abotu any white sox curse, so i agree with BBTN. 2.) Ravech's remark was in reference to the sox changing teh stadiums name, and if anything more of a jab at how all of baseball has changed traditional names in favor of corporations 3.) teh fact of the matter is that the tigers added a superstar OFer, and a closer who has 200+ saves, while the white sox traded away a .300 30 guy for a guy who hit .244, a move that right or wrong drew many question marks from teh national media. I will say taht gammons was a moron, saying the twins, but he has always had some sort of fetish for billy bean and terry ryan. either way, they were not snubbing the sox, just stating their opinions, lay off the guys and jsut be happy they are talkin about baseball and not the NBA

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Oh my, I saw BMac late last night on CSN...holy s***. Does he eat any food at all? I mean there's skinny people, but hes thinner than that. He looks like hes been in a cave without food. good. hes only 21, he'll fill into his body when he gets into a major league workout schedule, and should only get bigger. As he gets bigger his velocity should increase. the only place his weight and bulk can go is up

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) Could be because they are always meeting in the playoffs instead of ultimately meaningless games in July? Could be because of a minor player in baseball history Babe Ruth, and the Curse of the Bambino? Could be because Boston and NY are two of the biggest cities in America and reasonably close to each other? Could be because the Evil Empire has won all those Championships and that pisses people off more than two mediocre franchises trying to win the Upper Midwest Series each year instead of a World Series? Could it be that if Minny - Sox was really a historic rivalry we would have a Nuke_Minny and not a Nuke_Cleveland The boston yankees rivalry is something made completely and entirely by teh red sox fans, who are probably the biggest whinning crybaby hypocritical fans in America. I wont even get into how tehy bashed the yankees for years, and then turned into them now. I was in boston for games 3, 4, and 5 of the ALCS, and i even stayed just 2 blocks from fenway, and I can tell you that their rivalry is nothing but overhyped. boston hypes the yankees sox series like its the be all end all, and the greatest rivalry in sports (which everyone knows is army navy...dont believe me? ask a midshipman or a cadet how many days til each of the next 3 army navy games...he'll let you know). The Boston fans like to act like they know the most about their franchise...well i go to school with a self proclaimed "boston diehard" who bought a chisox 1983 hat thinking it was a red sox hat. cubs sox is a better rivalry because it is heated by hatred for the opposition, as opposed to heated by the jeleousy and shortcomings of the boston "faithful" .........just my 2cents

QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Willie at short.No. Interesting they say Ozuna is the favorite. I would have thought Valdez would be the favorite. Can Valdez play third? I am curious to know what Ozunas minor league stats are. The battle for the Util If spot has been talked about so much by white sox fans, maybe because its the only battle going on. Either way, I was worried abotu it, but in thinking about it more, the sox will be alright putting valdez in there. the cubs are marching out neifi perez, who espn calls the worst offensive player in all of baseball...i think valdez will be alright.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) This might not seem like a big deal to most people, but I remember last year the Indians should've swept the series, but instead only won 1 game. The Twins kept coming back in the late inning pissing me off like usual. Does anyone think this year will be different for them? sounds like the sox should line up with el duque garland and buerhle. buerhle always kills teh twins and he could end up facing santana in the rubber match which could determine the series. that should be a hell of a game
