  1. I am going to take it as a 'NO'......And by 'no', I presume y'all mean "Santana never be the same again after that nasty tear". Thanks.
  2. Oh the CRYING GAME you bastard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for brining up what I tried so hard to suppress!!!!!!!!! Miranda Richardson =
  3. Have no idea. Let me throw you a curveball while we're on the subject, FSJ: Some are Born to sweet delight Some are Born to endless night Recite the whole thing.
  4. Jarmush hasn't made many movies for the same reason Terrence Malick (Badlands) has been pretty quiet lately: there is little market for the art-house independent fare, for visionaries who challenge......and all the the financing/distribution problems stem from that simple fact. Seriously...how many people on this board liked Dead Man? Badlands? Adaptation? Miller's Crossing? The Sweet Hereafter? Lost in Translation? Punch-Drunk Love? **crickets chirping***
  5. What's the word on this fool? How serious was the injury/surgery? Give me one good reason why I shouldn't think won't be as effective in 2004. If he isn't the same, then the Twin rotation will be riding on Radke and Lohse, which is good. Sox could use any break we can get at this point.
  6. You're probably right. I was just saying-- and any FBI agent who works in that field posting on this board will back me up on this-- that mobsters come in all colors, shapes and sizes. I think now people expect them all to look and talk like Pussy or Unclue Jun. You seen Dead Man? If you don;t mind the slow pace, mysticism, etc-- it's better than Ghost Dog. For William Blake and Johnny Depp fans.
  7. Remember in the Limey, when the brickskulls throw the dude out on the street and then....man, i sawe it coming but it was still very cool to see.
  8. It's all about facelifts and botox.
  9. Dude, I think you ought to get over the old mafia stereotypes...Mob bosses come in greaseballs of all shapes and sizes. Secondly....For-Dub is so underrated. Among Black actors, Danzel and SLJ get all the hype, but FW, Don Cheadle and Geoffrey Wright are equally if not more talented. The language/comminication barrier thing and the Art of War samurai stuff were best parts of the movie, even if they had to Soprano it up in the end. Along with the Limey, Ghostdog is a low-key, but quality and fairly original flick. I dunno about 9 stars out of 10, but 7 out 10 for sure. Edit: The guy who directed GHOSTDOG, also directed Dead Man-- that beautiful, hypnotic B&W Western with Johnny Depp/Robert Mitchum/Lance Henriksen/Crispin Glover/John Hurt/Gabriel Byrne/Alfred Molina/Billy Bob Thorton/Iggy Pop. Neil Young wrote score.
  10. The point I was making is that there is nothing particularly wrong with Hilary or Laura. They're like your mother's older sisters. Unspecracular but FAAAR cry from Margaret Thatcher, Margaret Dumont or Ann-Margaret. I have nothing against young pretties (asamaterafact dating one right now), but there is a certain smart kind of super-sexiness about women in their early-mid-40's. Fine wine analogy doesn't begin to do it justice. I dunno, maybe I have a Mommy complex.
  11. That's because we both are toolus majorus.
  12. I know that, but most of his success came when he was throwin' 92-94. It's not easy getting away with a 89-90mph heater, knuckle-curve or not. I meantioned Honel because I like Cotts and Reed more. And without giving up a top prospect, swinging both Jackson and Miller, even for Thomas, is all but impossible.
  13. Have you ever been decieved by your childhood memories? First time for everything, I guess.
  14. Greg Miller has a higher upside and IMO better already. Should be in the majors in 2005. That velocity drop of Kris's is of dubious nature.
  15. This insane hype over Miller and Jackson has GOT to stop. Now. One is just 19, the other is barely 20. Meawhile, we must win NOW in order to keep payroll at decent levels post-2004, get some of the fanbase back, and compete. So when (or rather IF) Miller matures and becomes a 3.50 ERA pitcher by, say, 2007-2008.....What good would that do us then? Imagine our 1999 (yes, one that drew 1.3 Mill fans, that one) team but with a Greg Miller an ace: ok, so we win 80 games instead of 74, whooptie-fricken-doo. Perez is making over 5 Mill so you aren't saving much money on the deal. I would do it for Konerko because I think Konerko is terribly overrated even at his peak production, and I will never forgive him for 2003. Ever. Frank Thomas IS the White Sox, much as Joe Jackson is. He is worth more to the Sox than he is to a NL team (he can't field), especially one playing in a pitcher's park. Think about it. If godforbid I am wrong about Perez's ability and he gets off to a slow start pitching in AL, away from CR.....Sox are in a BIG effin' trouble in every respect. Now...Frank + Honel for Jackon + Miller? Then it gets much harder to pass up on the deal........BUT then again, why would the Dodgers do it? They got the money to spend, they don't NEED Frank THAT bad and they will get roasted for giving away both Miller and Jackson......Plus, they may be able to get Frank AFTER 2004 if he has a good year and the Sox (naturally) refuse to pay. Let's hope the new GM saves us all a lot of trouble and gives us OP for PK.
  16. Oh Danny, we hardly knew ya..... Perez + Jackson + Miller for Frank + Honel?
  17. Oooh, so she's been a bad, baaaad gurl too? hottt!!!
  18. The actual cost of producing, pimping and distributing PH was significanty higher than 130 Mill. But it did break even, thanks to NABO, WBO, rentals, cable and sales. There was no (serious) after-tax money to be made for the studio when the dust cleared around 2001. Michael Bay is no longer their golden pony for that very reason. 3:1 ratio.
  19. Hitters who deserve to take up 20 % of the payroll: -Bonds -A-Rod -Pujols -Sosa (of 1998-2001) -Griffey (of 1997-1998) -Thomas (of 1993-1994) -Vlad Guerrero (sans bulging disc) -Larry Walker (circa 1997) -I-Rod (circa 2000) -Piazza (late 90s) -Sheffield (ditto) -Garciappara (first 3 years in the league) -Big Mac (1997-1999) -Edmonds (as a Cardinal...and injury free) Maggs making 13.5 Mill (meeting Sox midway) only makes sense of he has the kind of season I delineated above OR if the Sox payroll swells to 70+ Mill.
  20. I am always taken aback by people raggin' on Hilary and Laura's looks or sex appeal. I think for someone in their 50's, they look average. Hardly Pam Grier, Felicia Rashaad, angie Dickinson, Jackie Onassis or Ann Bancroft-ish.......but certainly not John-Goodman-in-chalat bad.
