  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1731799 Looks like Boras kinda got his client what he wanted. For now anyway. Give me one good reasons why Maddux shouldn't ask for at least 6-7 Mill.
  3. I don't believe that post was objective. I think it was very stupid. But I wasn't talking about just that guy or Mr. Cotts. I was refering to the fact that while I may root the hell out of a certain talented youngster, I can also be quite harsh on occasion if I see something I don't like. I had unkind words for Brian West and for Danny Wright, for example. And yet if (no, when) I am proven wrong, I will be ecstatic and will savor every bite of that delicious crow. Believe you me. And of course, this is an OPEN board, so sometimes you're gonna have trolls, jealous haters, rivals, Cub fans (too redundant?) and just plain ol' idiots registering and posting something really s***ty or nonsensical about some of you. I hope you players that read it realize that those few don't speak for the entire site and will pay no mind. In fact, I know you won't....because one of the reasons y'all are competing on this highest of levels is because you DIDN'T listen to every whining doubter that you've ever crossed paths with in the past. .
  4. 94, don't hate him 'cuz he bewuful.
  5. Color me a rebel, but I do not like Don King.
  6. Why? I'm perfectly happy with Konerko-for-Perez swap. Anything more, such as us geting Hand or Guti as well, would be us robbing the Dodgers.
  7. Ok, fine. I'll take 140 RBI OR a 1100 OPS. Seeing as I am in a particularly forgiving mood. ESPN actually says Maggs has recently inquired about a 4 year, 60 Mill el raiso. The balls.

Still stupid and miserable. And just a little balder. Let's un-ban him just for s***s and giggles.

Aw, nothing better than trolls coming together and sharing. Hell, in the interest of full disclosure, I empower the Adminds to go ahead and erase the following screen names/alter-identities of mine: -voodoochile -idseer -espnjohn1 -boog_alou -maggsformayor -nashnhall -ministryfan -rdivaldi -hawkiconk I deserve floggin and public humiliation.
  10. Allow me re-iterate: If Frank-for-Perez goes through, that's a few hundred dollars less of revenue for the White Sox. I might just convice a few other Sox fans to curtail their in-park spending as well. And by "might" I mean "will". Kenny, if you're reading this....STOP THE MADNESS!

You may be onto something, PA. OT: That reminds me of some deposed tinseltown exec blaming his fate on "Hollywood Gay Jew Mafia" without the slightest tinge of irony.
  12. Holy crap, they're still churning out stuff? I thought they were, like, nonexistent for almost 20 years.
  13. Technnically, that's below average. Unless you think Twin rookies are gonna pull a 2002 and blow people away, and unless you see Politte and Koch have really good seasons.....KC does have the best BP in ALC, almost by default. Until proven otherwise. When you look at RISP BA, you ALSO have to look at RISP Slug as well as at the RO OPS. There is no way Royals duplicate the .304 avg, you're correct.....BUT, if Sweeney and Gonzo stay healthy and Stairs continues to MURDER RHP, when you couple them with improving Beltran, solid rook Guiel and ROY Berroa....you might.just.have. an overall jump in OPS , including with Runners On, to cover up for the likely BA RISP drop-off. Meanwhile.....Twinkies have Stewart's hamstrings and Mauer's head to worry about. With Baltimore and Anaheim taking a step up, Minny might only have a very AVERAGE offense in 2004. I have them ranked below the Sox and Mariners as well, but that's 'cuz I am in the optimistic mood. Regardless, Twins will have an average rotation if Santana is anything but 100% healthy after that late surgery; their offense is not gonna carry them and their BP has its lost TWO studs-- imagine us losing Gordon AND Marte. If Sox play an inspired (read: of the 2000 kind when players picked each other up during slumps, used the whole field, cut down on swings with RISP, hit Sac flies, avoid GIDP, bunt people over, run bases and play tighter Defense), selfless brand of ball and manage to stay a little healthier than either the Royals or the Twins......while JR makes Everett-type acquisitions at the ASB if we're close.....I don't see why we couldn't pull off an upset and win the ALC. In 2003, we were giving games away left and ritght and up the middle. So many examples of jaw-dropping ineptitude that left even Hawk Harrelson shaking his noggin'. Hell partna, our 11-8 record against 119-loss kitties stings like Gary Busey in the ol' hive. Of course I can't wait until we swing Konerko for Perez as you promised and use the saved dough to fill in at least one hole.
  14. And now in the Over-55 category, wthout furtha adeu......
  15. I like FutureSox.com. It does a good job resisting the hype. Its mL profiles are pretty accurate. You should check it out, Jas.
  16. WITE In his opus magnum, ever-so-pedantic WS61382 overrates Milton, Radke, Lohse and the rest of the '01 Twin pitching (check out their career ERAs). He also forgets to mention their then below-average offense. But he does get something right: Royal rotation is pure garbage and their bullpen is frankly overrated-- Sullivan and McDougal are not that scary and Grimsley is old. It's the best BP in ALC, but nothing remotely dominant about it. I happen to think Sox win win the ALC rather easily, but that's because I am clairvoyant. A case could certainly be made for Twins being serious contenders if Santana can recover from that surgery, Maur progresses fast and Stewart's hamstrings hold.
  17. Now imagine Ritchie....93 with little-to-NO movement. Garland was advertised as 93-96mph dude back when he was in HS. Now he is 91-93. Danny Wright was said to throw 94-98 but only rarely did I see him top 95 when he was called up late in 2001. He threw a few 96-97 ones. Missed the SZ by a few feet. Nardi talked to him.....In 2002, he was mainly 92-94 and last year he was 89-92, maybe because of his elbow. Speaking of injuries, Barcelo was touted as 95-98mph as well. Doctors are said to have told him he might hit triple digits 2-3 years after his TJ. When I saw him late in 2000 as a reliever, he was 93-95 on the generous FoxSports gun. It's entirely possibly that Lorenzo was already injured as he was operated on 6 months later. Where is Kyle Kane's upper-90s fastball? Jason Stumm was said to throw 93-97 in his first year in developmental league. Bobby Valentine was supposed to be in the upper 90s with sink.....Hoe come Jon Adkins is the hardest throwe in the org? Are we in such a bad shape?

    Colon Cleansing

BTW, I saw a segment on some brotha having his stomach and intestines eaten by caustic chemical compounds in the matter of hours during the industrial accident at the this plant he worked at, right? After months of pain hell (emergency surgery left him aviscerated...literally) and an experiemntal procedure that used the last remaining 6 feet of his small intestine to connect it to his throat, he could finally eat non-IV style again. The trick is, to stay alive he has to literally PUSH the foot with has hands front the outside so it can pass through the newly installed digestive track. The digestive cycle of course is MUCH, MUCH shorter because the chord is 25 times shorter than that of a normal person, so the body has very little time to absorb the nutrients and minerals and all that good stuff....... So.....the brotha has to LITERALLY eat all day long-- up to 12 times a day. Also, his toilet-flushing bill must be exorbitant. I slay me. As a side-note, the whole "contraption" looks like a garden-hose running down his chest and sticking out of his skin. So when the food and fluids are swallowed, you SEE THEM like you would see something big pass through a hose in a cartoon. The FREAKSH thing you can't turn away from. I gotta start taping Ripley's cause some of the things they show (quasi-decapitated lad getting his head sewn back on, chinese man with two-heads-in-one, etc)

Who the hell asks about it?! SLP board has thus effectively reached its nadir point. :puke
  21. I fear 61382 is about to strike again. Run for cover, all.
  22. Funny thing radar gun, I distinctly recall TR in the 90-93mph range while with us. He threw in mid-90s like Judy threw in mid-90s.....a distant memory of the events that never occured. Plus, I clearly stated that velocity is not OP's main strenght. Duh. IMO there is very little merit to the OP-TR comparison, given the other parts of the equation, namely Paul Konerko and Kip Wells.
  23. I am going to enjoy White Sox surpring everyone and beating the s*** out of Minnesota in 2004 and beyond. Will savor their every defeat, Cubs-style. Menkevich getting drilled on the helmet? Is there a sweeter sound? It's time for WS to atone for their gutless, selfish ways of 2002 and 2003 and actually come through. Maddux? No money, no money, money....unless we can pay with
