Well, what'yanah, I AM Blessed afterall!
-
If that's the case (and I do not believe for a second that it is), then God can go f*** himself and take his ghastly little country club with him.
-
To one awesome dude and a Sox-GM-in-the-making, It's been a pleasure.
-
He's making, what, 9-10 Mill this season? Thanks, but no thanks -- this money should be saved up so we can get a STUD at the ASB. I can't see the Expos picking up his salary. Right now Roberts still sounds like a good, cheap option.
-
0-3 But what's worse, Frank's injury, IMO, is much more serious and I wouldn't suprised to see him on DL before May.
-
Leave BabyBerroa out of this. He's hit vert well, just missed some extra base hits today when he made outs and despite 3 errors fielded his position well. He has some speed as well. Should be in the 2nd spot against LHP, no question about it. Willie should be gone, but Sox can't replace him because Manos is on DL. Kelly Dransfelt should be starting tomorrow, but he is not the answer either. KW....call Oriole GM, swallow your damn pride.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
BrandoFan replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everybody relax. Mark is still a good young pitcher with good control and even better make-up; his "decline" is basically him failing to make necessary adjustments in 2003 after the league adjusted to him, a delayed sophomore slump. He is just not an ace. He might become one down the road, but don't depend on him to win games 1 and 4 against the Yankees in ALDS this year. If he breaks 3.50 barrier, I'll be pleasantly surpised. This is a non-issue. If Sox don't make postseason (god help us all) in 2004, it won't be because of Mark, but most likely because of guys like Koch, Konerko, Crede, Harris, Wright, Rowand, Garland, Show and Olivo. -
Yankees are simply a superior talent team, no shame in admitting that. Hopefully I am proven wrong and Show wins tomorrow, but I doubt it. Oh and Willie is nothing short of brutal. 8-3 0-3

Wed GoG: Rowand From the seats it looked like it was gonna be a sure double. Maggs made an excellent catch as well but it was too far for me to see the details and, besides, the score was already 3-1 Yanks whereas Aaron did it in a scoreless game, saving a run-scoring hit. No standouts otherwise. When Maggs chocked with bases loaded, you had a feeling the game was over even though it was 0-0.

And the "world" can destroy US in about 19.5 minutes if it ever wished. Who's gonna protect you, Big Laser In the Sky? Someone should let Nuke know that, technically, his life is not worth more, on any level, than that of a disease-ridden blind Bombai beggar. Universe doesn't care.

Todd Solontz is better. Happiness

Crede needs to shorten and level his swing. When he was lhanging frozen ropes all over the place of guys like Derek Lowe back in 2002, it didn't have the loop.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
BrandoFan replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Holy crap! Bucking the trend is one thing (as my post indicates, I too don't think Mark is as ordinary as he was last year).......But 3.00 ERA? That's CY Young territory in AL. Without a good curveball, no way. But if you're right, then all the better for the Sox. -
I like what they have now -- the one that "introduces" the players and accelerates to the music Dennis Miller Live occasionally used at the end.... Among the "cute" commericals.....I've been partial to the little girl chanting JOSE, JOSE, JOSE in what otherwise was a weak-minded ad. Kids Can Play.... :puke BTW.....when the WGN broadcast starts, they now have the intro similar to that of the Cubs, even though the one from 1999 (or was it 1998? I only caught september games) that showed Belle among others was rock-ier, more suitable to the spirit of this team Gallas? Door slamming on the ass and all. Yawn.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle

That's the point....they're not. Hence his struggles in 03 and 04. He doesn't get bailed out like, say, Brad Radke was back in 02 or Jaimme Moyer was in 01 or Colon was in 99. -
Iron Man is good song not to be wasted on this momo.

Yeah, Amy is looking suprsingly +_'+ Whoever told Ereka that pose is even remotely appealing for her is an idiot.

My boy Kwame's back on his feet. Goldman Sachs who?

Edward Norton. Enough said.

Yes, back in 2002 Bondsie was making close to 20%. Berroids is Berroids, though. An exception. See, my rule is 20% even for marquee players, but the 15% thing makes sense too. The mitigating factor is popularity/marketability. So Shamy Sooser making 20% of the payroll circa 2001 certainly crippled the team a bit, but at least he brought in enough revenue in the 1998-2001 period to actually be a bargain at 13-14 Mill he was making. So the fault for the team losing lies squarely on Andy Mac wasting a bunch of cash on washed-up vets.........If Maggs can put up same numbers Sosa put up in those 4 years and could be as big a draw, I'd give him 14 Mill tomorrow. IF. It's be interesting to see if it hold true for PLAYOFF teams, not only WS champs. First 15%. Then 20%.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle

Of course Mark is not an ace, it's been mentioned many times throughout 2003. Hitters don't chase his slider like they used to in 2001 and his curveball, the one he used so well to K people that year, is now too erratic -- afterall that roller to Vernon Wells last year, Mark's no longer relying on it. Mark is a 3.50-3.70 ERA pitcher on a good defensive team. That's not an ace and not even a very good #2. That's why Sox need a stud #1 if we're to go deep in the playsoffs as Loaiza, Burhle and Garland are much better at 2-3-4. That said, he wasn't terrible in the 1st inning. With some luck and hustle, he could have gotten out of it without any runs. Yankees still would have touched him up for 3-4 runs eventually, but the game would have been won. -
Tuesday's GoG: Willie Harris Rowand prevented a runner from tagging up, but it was a shallow flyball, so I am not how much credit he deserves for it. He misplayed a double and a single. So even though Willie mistimed his dive, he kept it on the infield and otherwise was flawless. He is the GoG by default as nobody else stood out and/or played crappy D.
-
Sounds reasonable. I am pretty sure Pudge, Jr made almost 20% of the Marlin payroll though....he did return it in spades, however, by single-handedly beating the Giants and Scrubs in game 1 of NLCS. But I digress.

Death threats? Oh the outrage. *Aboz losing more respect*

I remember Greg Norton twist his ankle on the first base bag and twist and shriek on the ground like a little girl as though his leg was torn off. Matsui flies face first into the seats and calmly walks back to LF. (he was back playing 5 minutes later) Can't be taught.
