QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) I really don't think that will happen. We resisted that toward the end of the year when it looked like El Duque was getting healthy and B-Mac was pitching well. McCarthy is almost certainly destined for the bullpen if we keep all of our starters, especially since we currently seem to have a few holes there. We still could end up trading one of our starters since we obviously have a lot of talent there, but it seems that the most likely scenario right now is that B-Mac pitches in the pen this year mostly in long relief and gets a spot start if someone gets hurt. Then next year we don't resign Contreras and let him get a huge contract elsewhere, take the two draft picks, and plug B-Mac into the #5 hole while we work on extensions for Mark and Freddy. he'll probably get spot starts more regularly than if someone's hurt, just to keep guys fresh. say Garcia throws more than 100 pitches in his previous outing, give him an extra day or two off to recuperate, therefore preventing an injury.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) I think we are looking at a 6 pitcher rotation. Did you notice how much stronger our guys were during the post season when they had some extra rest? Of course we might not see that rotation until the middle of May or so because of early off days during April, but I think it would be awesome. well, with 3 starters pitching in the WBC, I'll bet they won't start out with a 6-man rotation, but it makes the Vazquez trade all the better, as it improves the rotation and causes McCarthy to be an insurance policy in case of an injury to a starter, as well as regularly getting spot starts.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) stojakovic or bust noooooo, he's soft and disappears in crunch time. I don't want the centerpiece of a team that couldn't get over the hump.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) The Colts should risk injury, because..? The Bears could have taken care of business for themselves. The Colts aren't required to do charity work for the Bears. you know, they aren't required to, but it would be a nice gesture, ya know? -
26 rushes for 172 yards and a TD vs. the Titans today.

Bears Fans Should Hope for a KC loss

I heard if Vermeil were to retire, Saunders would be strongly considered as the next head coach of KC. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) I was hoping for the Bears to get the #1 NFC seed, but it the Seahawks are looking pretty good right now against the Colts. hmm, Edgerrin James hasn't really been able to get going the past few games, including today. this could be trouble, but maybe not. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) I'd say most people on the board, including myself wanted nothing to do with Juan Pierre. might that have anything to do with already having Podsednik, thus having no need for Pierre?

what in the hell? I went on NHL.com to check the score, and it said 2-0 Hawks, and there were 3 min or so left. i figured it was in the bag. I don't like this team, and I haven't been able to catch a game yet.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Yep, these WS ones are sold out for good. Although there are other versions of it on the net I've been told. from what I hear about this "eBay" thing, they may end up on there. you know the saying, "if you're looking for 'it,' you can find 'it' on eBay." or something like that.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) So does McCarthy. So does Contreras. So does Buehrle. Man, everyone pitches up to their potential in that lineup next year, and the only thing that beats us is a Royal Flush. I get it...our rotation is like a 5-of-a-kind...excellent poker reference. props my good sir.

a safe bet would be 33.

Kyle Orton out for the season.....

QUOTE(Wedge @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Roy Williams, Dre Bly. I'd even say Harrington is pretty good. Those guys are pretty good. I think you'd be surprised at just how fast a good to great coach could turn that team around. There is definitely some talent on that roster that has underachieved. Y-yeah...um, having drafted a receiver with the first pick three years in a row is why this team sucks. on first look, you'd think this would make it easier for Joey Harrington. but think a little more, and if he had used 2 of those picks anywhere on defense (they're weak everywhere) and improved the defense a little more, it would make it easier on Joey Harrington not having to play from behind all the time. even further, maybe all the pressure of having to perform well with 3 first round picks at receiver got to Harrington, too. but I'm leaning towards my first thought. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) Orton played passable those 2 Detroit games id say he looked more like Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson in those games while he has been complete dog s*** all the other games. now that I think about it...I can't remember if this was a Bears game I was watching (I've been in the St. Louis market, and I'm too tired/lazy to check, or maybe it was the Thanksgiving game, once again, tired, so I can't remember or type coherent, thought-out sentences), but I remember Dre Bly would have had a number of interceptions had he not been playing with a cast on his right hand, as it was basically a club. ...now that I think about it, it was the Thanksgiving game. but I'm sure there were a number of dropped interceptions in any Orton start. either way, disregard my previous statement. -

QUOTE(Wedge @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) Maybe he looked like Manning playing drunk, high, blindfolded, and with his right arm and leg behind his back. I'm not sure what game you were watching... I wouldn't say he played like Manning in those 2 games, but at least he had a positive impact on those games, unlike...basically every other game he's played in. -
haha. "Do you want to talk about MVPs of the league?" "No." (without skipping a beat) "How about..."

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) This SHOULD be overturned. the ball was secure before he hit the ground, but he didn't make a football move, so like I said, it's at the ref's discretion, and I like their call.

this seems like it's at the ref's discretion...
