  1. QUOTE(LDF @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) gio has been mention as the steal of the draft for the sox and has been highly touted by alot of exec in the baseball world. yes, I know, and he has pitched great, but he hasn't proven anything yet. and we know what Thome is capable of when healthy. we don't know what Gio's capable of. and we need another bat in the lineup, we weren't exactly a murderer's row this past season.
  2. QUOTE(OldSox2 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Kenny wrote another chapter in trading great prospect(s) for an established, over the hill player who might help for one year, two at the most IF he (Thome) can still hit. I don't get it. Among other things, we solved a serious dilemma for the Phillies. They didn't want Thome; they want to play Howard at First Base. He is a much better player and his salary is the minimum. So who can they go to to take Thome and half his salary off their hands? Kenny and the White Sox. I still can't visualize how they talked Kenny out of Gio. I bet they're laughing in Philadelphia, harder than when we traded Johnny Calison for Gene Freese back in 1960. maybe they'll be laughing IF Gio turns out to be an all-star every year. remember, no prospect is can't-miss, and Gio's never even been described as can't-miss. the Sox need a power left-handed bat (Thome), and there are a few promising centerfielders waiting in the wings. I wish it could have been Anderson instead of Rowand, but I'm still comfortable having Anderson take over.
  3. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) They should be able to change what game is on MNF so this kind of stuff doesn't happen. maybe they should work something like that out in the next TV deal...
  4. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) They have Dominck Davis.. No reason for Bush in Houston they will be going after D'Brickasaw Fergeouson (sp) OL help. Carr has no time to throw the fa-king ball. They might also go D help as well, RB is not a huge concern for them. true, but the Bears did draft Benson when they had other, more pressing needs. don't underestimate the idiocy of some of these front-office types.
  5. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Now looking at it.. Bush is going to San Fran, unless there is a major trade on draft day. or if the Jets manage a worse record. don't count out Houston, they're awful.
  6. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) That was a great game from start to finish, however, yesterday's Caps/ Lightning game was just as good, and the game tying and game winning goals by Ovechkin were outstanding. He's hands down the rookie of the year, no questions. He's overshadowed by Crosby and "the Next One" status that he's quietly becoming a superstar. just a wee bit early to be handing out awards...
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Disagree, looking at the schedules its coming down to the final game of the season. I expect Chicago to have a 1 game lead on Minnesota, looking for the win to give them the for sure clinch. Minny has a lot of really easy games coming up while the Bears are going to start playing some more difficult teams. That said if Chicago can win Sunday against San Fran and than sweep GB (easier said than done) and they will have 8 wins. Minny isn't a very good team, but they looked a lot better with Brad Johnson. I'm convinced that a Minny loss to any foe worse than them will knock them out. However, Minny has some incredibly easy games and will end up making it at least close. if Minnesota wins every game that they should (and I wouldn't bet on it), that'll give them 8 going into week 17 vs. the Bears, as will the Bears. I see your point and agree that it could very well come down to the last week. if the Lions catch fire, even they could be in it til the end. all the more reason, that if Orton falls below this barely adequate standard he's set, to put in Grossman.
  8. word is Mayor McCheese cheaped out on the cups to use the money to put an addition on his house.
  9. QUOTE(Wedge @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Grossman There, I said it. I don't know what's so special about Grossman. great point...now what's so special about Orton?
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) IMO you can't change qb's in the middle of the season with a first place team but that's just me. it is the NFC North, 7 games might win it. and though they haven't called for too many downfield passes, the few they have were all overthrows. he's made some impressive throws, and a couple in tight spots (like the one mention above that set up the win), but he hasn't been overly impressive at all, that's why I say it's his job to lose and then it shouldn't take more than 3 bad quarters in a winnable game to lose it. and when you say he was able to overcome his bad throws, it's more like the defense was able to overcome his bad throws and give himself a chance to redeem himself.
  11. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) why are you so anti-orton. he hasn't brought anything to the table. he isn't asked to anything, and when he is, it usually ends up with him overthrowing his receiver. if Grossman's healthy, put him in.
  12. it should be Orton's job to lose, but it shouldn't take much to lose it. right now, all that's being asked of Orton is to not screw up so bad that the defense can't keep it close. depending on how healthy Grossman is, I'd like to see a quarterback for the Bears capable of doing more than that. keep in mind, Grossman never had a receiver like Muhammed, he only had a few games throwing with Booker, who wasn't quite at Muhsin's level anyway.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) But when Moss was hurt for a couple games last year, Culpepper's production didn't really suffer that much. Which is why they thought they could improve without Moss this year. Something else had to be bothering Culpepper. Matt Birk being out might have had some effect, but look who the Vikes played last year when Moss was out. Indianapolis, Green Bay, and Detroit. his good showings this year? Carolina, New Orleans, and Green Bay. Carolina's pass defense this year is 25th in YPG. we all know New Orleans and Green Bay aren't too sharp defensively this year, and last year Indianapolis, Green Bay, and Detroit were 28th, 25th, and 20th, respectively, in pass defense.
  14. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Lyle Mouton? I guess that mean we won't be witnessing a comeback from Lyle Mouton...
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) If I did about 3 minutes worth of research I could answer all questions involved in this situation. However, I just don't care enough about this to make the effort. For some unknown reason I just don't care about individual awards all that much this season. you know the reason, it's because of the White Sox winning the World Series. I feel the same way about the awards right now, I don't care at all that Gooch didn't win ROY, the White Sox won the World Series.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:26 AM) I'm not going to read this whole thread, because TO won't be coming to the Bears. But, damn! How can somebody that just watched the example shown by the Sox on what teamwork can accomplish advocate signing the most selfish maggot in sports today? because a receiver like TO (or Moss even) will mask the mediocrity of some QBs. look at Culpepper, suddenly when 3 defenders aren't committed to Moss nearly every down it's a lot harder to find the other receivers. McNabb's completion percentage went from something like 58% to 65% when TO got there. suddenly opponents are actually worried about the Bears' passing game, and now Thomas Jones is becoming more productive.
  17. I'm more hung up on the blooper award...how could John Smoltz not be nominated, with that one tumbling play where he didn't come close to tagging first base?
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Brett Favre would have the Eagles no better off than Donovan McNabb has them. Donovan is one of the elite QB's in the game. He puts up the numbers, he gets Owens the ball all the time, its just that they have no running game like previously stated and no other options outside of TO. Donovan is not the problem. The defense is still the problem. If Brett Favre is a star DT that I don't know about, then maybe it changes. if Brett Favre were QBing the Eagles, they'd be close to undefeated. but that's because he's healthy. McNabb would have them there to if he wasn't playing this banged up.
  19. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) yeah, really. and bobdylan, im not slapping anyone in the face. without crede's clutch hitting, we would not have won the world series, period. the same goes for paulie, jermaine, etc. when you say that ozuna could have replaced joe crede at third...to me that's just so illogical. but hey, that's why this forum is fun. i respect your opinion, but i severly disagree with you. in my mind, there is no way in hell that ozuna could have done all the things crede did for this team. how many game winners did crede provide, in the feild and at the plate? that's what im backing my opinion up to. and for the record, you need to acknowledge that you are feasting on crow right now because you called for a trade of crede for randa. all randa would have brought to this team is a smirk. but hey, that's just me. now here's someone who doesn't mind to say "I told you so." but I can say I never fully gave up Joe Crede during the season, I just didn't want him here in 2006.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) That would be Ed Olzyck wouldn't it? so it is...I can't remember, since my HS hockey career ended in March, with the lockout I hadn't had a hockey-related thought until this NHL season started.
  21. Crosby and Lemieux were on the same powerplay line. and they were both involved in 4 powerplay goals. now, who's coaching this team? I was outraged by the fact that they weren't at least on the same powerplay line after 3 or 4 games, and it took him 10 to figure it out? and since I've heard Crosby hasn't been doing well on faceoffs, why not move him to winger and onto Lemieux's line until Lemieux retires? there's so much untapped potential between those two.
  22. QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Pale Hose Forum continues its decline. I thought it was pretty good...
  23. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Anthrax...We're waiting......... f***ing awesome job KW. Can't do any better than this! don't worry about Anthrax...I thought I'd be pissed and shove it in the faces of everyone with a "choking" avatar if/when the Sox won, and now because THE WHITE SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES!! I couldn't care less about that. just remember, THE WHITE SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES!! (I'm never going to get tired of seeing that in print...never.)
  24. because of the fact that THE WHITE SOX JUST WON THE WORLD SERIES!!, we won't have to field an entirely new roster in 2006.
