  1. THE WHITE SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES!! seriously, my chest hurts, I haven't been breathing for the past hour.
  2. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) The White Sox' 10-1 record thus far is a bit overinflated IMO 1) all of the teams they faced could not set their rotation 2) Colon was out for the CS, Rocket only lasted three innings, we didn't even face Schilling 3) All of the teams, overall, were among the weakest set of opponents an eventual recent WS winner would face in my opinion. None of these teams are the 2001 or 2003 Yankees, who would've taken us deep and probably beat this team in the CS. 1) the Sox could, a benefit of going 99-63 2) Colon consistently breaks down at the end of the season, Clemens is old and we hit him anyway, Schilling hasn't been healthy for a year 3) buzzkill
  3. for a lot of people on this board, the White Sox version of the song should be entitled "Don't Stop Believin'...Again"
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Gammons picked up to win on Baseball Tonight, dangit. Keep in mind at the begining of the year he picked the Twins and the Cubs to be in the World Series. Everyone on baseball tonight picked the Sox to win. well then I'd be worried, 'cept Gammons picked us in the ALDS and the ALCS. I'll take our lineup and bullpen over the Astros', and the rotations are a wash.
  5. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) He sure as hell got lucky. If I were the manager, I might've fired him right after the game. and another reason you're not a manager. but I do think it was a terrible decision by Cora, he should have held Rowand with none out after he slid. if Rowand hadn't slid or Cora saw that play developing, he would be the hero of Game 2. and yes, the decision he made was one of those first-guess calls, where I was yelling at the TV once he sent Rowand.
  6. how much does your goalie want you to play the pass is the issue. you can't always play the pass and force the worst angled shot possible, the offense won't just skate in a straight line. how much room do you give the carrier to shoot?
  7. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) 90% is ridiculously impossible. that's not my point, and I said "almost realistically" and said 90% as a, yes, ridiculously high number. with all they have, they're 17th in the league at 16%, and if you want a realistic number, 30-40% is possible with who they have.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) I don't know why, but lots of teams don't like to put all of their offense on one PP line. I guess its the whole putting your eggs in one basket thing. true, but when those eggs consist of (arguably) the second greatest player of all time, the next Gretzky, and a damn good powerplay QB, it's a safer move than if other teams were to do it.
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Stoudemire Out For Four Months I take back what I said about your fantasy squad, cal. So, what should be the Suns starting lineup without Amare? PG: Steve Nash SG: Raja Bell SF: Shawn Marion PF: Kurt Thomas C: Brian Grant PG: Steve Nash SG: Raja Bell SF: Jim Jackson PF: Shawn Marion C: Kurt Thomas In retrospect, they should have held on to Steven Hunter. I know that he doesn't have much upside on offense, and he's not as good of a rebounder as his size and athleticism would indicate, but at least he could play some solid defense for 15 to 20 minutes a night. I don't even know who the f*** Pat Burke is. It's crazy when you consider that they won't have 3/5 of their starting lineup from last year's Western Conference Finals squad on opening day. they'll manage to keep their heads above water - maybe - with Kurt Thomas and Brian Grant filling in. they'll at least be in a position where once Stoudemire returns, they'll be capable of making the playoffs.
  10. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) eh, who knows.. thats a dam good line tho would be...
  11. why haven't they just put together a powerplay line of Lemiuex, Crosby, LeClair, Gonchar, and Tarnstrom? couldn't they almost realistically net a PP goal 90% of the time? they almost wouldn't need a 2nd line for the powerplay. park LeClair in front of the net, and let Lemieux, Crosby, and Gonchar do their thing. even for the sake of having a good 2nd line, put Tarnstrom with Palffy and Reechi. ok, end of hockey related rant.
  12. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) I agree he will improve, but defensive familiarty? You either see and stop the puck or you dont. Theres no familiarity, unless of course he became unfamiliar with a puck during the lockout. defensive familiarity would be things like how they play 2-on-1s and 3-on-2s, and Bulin and the Hawks defensemen might not be on the same page yet.
  13. all I know is, I just can't get enough of these stories. ALCS Tuesday!!
  14. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) i wish crede knew how to bunt well he learned, c'mon now bring AJ home!
  15. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) nothing greedy about me one freakin run I'd take just one. I ain't asking for much just one hell just get the W, but that run would be great, AJ on 2nd.
  16. anyone know the name of the song just playing?
  17. SING IT ROOKIE! I'm Charles Rogers, I had 68 catches and 13 touchdowns I'm Charles Rogers, I had 68 catches and 13 touchdowns
  18. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) PS. I can't wait till Bill Simmons (whom i like most of the time) puts down 4000 words on this series on his next article he picked the Red Sox in 4, said he'd take the washed-up-Wells/questionable-but-probably-ready-Schilling combo over the white-hot-Contreras/Buehrle/Garcia/Garland combo.
  19. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) i love paulie but if he's looking at 10 mil a year i'd have to decline hes at 8 now, so is another 2 mil a year really that bad for him?
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) The Red Sox offense has been the best in baseball, the White Sox has been the third worst. The Red Sox pitching rotation is vastly underrated and has alot of experience with David Wells and Curt Schilling at the top. The White Sox have a much better bullpen, the Red Sox have more depth offensively. It's virtually high powered offense versus high powered pitching staff; usually pitching wins, but we shall see. Good luck. as of right now, if I were Francona the only guy I would have confidence in throwing out there is Schilling, because he lives for this and he pitched well yesterday. you can't call a pitching staff underrated when none of those starters has an ERA below 4.15.
  21. Pods needs to get back into the rythym of stealing bases for the playoffs, and get back the strength in his leg, so he will probably play 2 more games, maybe get a night off.
  22. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Troy Brown, paging Troy Brown. You are needed in the Patriots Defense War Room. that just isn't going to fly anymore for them, their secondary is already somewhat depleted. if Harrison doesn't return, I'm sure they've reached the end of their run.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) You don't think OPS is an important stat? not as much for Pods, his OPS is considered terrible, but add the SBs to it and it'd be respectable.
  24. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) yea, I don't see this team going anywhere... offense is just far to weak ummmmm...that's why the title of this thread would be "Needs for next year"
