Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
It sound like from Hahns comments that it is in the middle muscle fiver portion of the muscle but no where near as bad as it could have been. Grade 3 tears can range from 75%-100% of the fibers torn. This is obviously towards the lower end by the way they are treating it.

Correct. But if they aren't even considering surgery than it isn't a bad grade 3 tear. So the likelihood of long term issues is greatly diminished.

It's very good. There must not be as many fibers torn for a bad grade 3. All is looking up.

It's possible. However it they aren't doing surgery than it's less likely. It must not be a bad grade 3 as it looked.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
The important note there is "if it heals properly" A full grade 3 or rupture won't necessarily heal properly. That's the catastrophic version discussed earlier.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
That's the issue. If its catastrophic. It looked bad and they came out with the grade 3 diagnosis. He should recovery fully but this is one injury that has the possibility of being career changer for a guy who speed is a major part of his game. Until there is more info, it is a concern.

That's awesome. The grade 3 diagnosis must be a 2/3 borderline case, if they feel he can return this year.

Sox rotation so far
Agreed on all this this. Inexperience will provide inconsistencies for many reasons.

Athlete compliance can be an issue. Usually it's not compliance with doing the work but it's doing the work that's suggested for them by the organization. Many go outside the organization for "expert" help and it isn't always the best advice.

Injuries: can the training staff be blamed?
The latest things that we implement come from research. Staff at this level will not just do something they heard about.

He wasn't just running. He tripped a couple of steps before the bag and then had to reach for the bag from an awkward position.

Set backs do happen as they are much more aggressive with professional athletes but not 3 set backs as what's being reported.

That's because most thought it was an overpay and the media is all about creating controversy so they want it to be as dramatic as possible.

It's puzzling. Not so much the injury as hamstrings strains can take awhile to come back from but the constant reports of set backs. The medical group is too good to keep allowing this.

I agree.

I think you need to give more frequent days off so he fresh at the end of the year. Many rookies fade at the end of the year just from the mental fatigue of a season longer than they are used to. edit: I mean more frequently than the veterans, not more frequently than he is already getting.

PR and fans views are not always in line what is best for the team as a whole and shouldn't be considered when deciding what will help the team win. If the team is going to be better with him in LF, then that's where he should be.

You have to trade quality to get quality. If they have a glaring need, someone will need to go. It looks like it will be between Vaughn and Mercedes. Currently, Vaughn has better positional versatility and is younger. We'll see how they hit all year.

This should not enter their thought process. Any decision about Jimenez in the field should purely based on what's best for the team.

Definitely. If he continues his strong hitting there will be more teams than that interested.
