What the heck is AJ talking about that pitch was all in the strike zone. Is he just making crap up.
-
Good idea but I'm not a hoppy fan. I'm going with Hacker-pschorr hefeweizen.

Doesn't have to be a FA. Sox have decent MiLB resources as well. With many owners feeling the economic crunch maybe the Sox can pry away a good RF with a large contract that someone wants to dump for a decent but not top prospect package.
-
This would be the only way its works. If he sticks to the one year deal, it would be ok. Any more than that, then its not worth the risk.
-
Hey, he agrees with me. Use the resources in RF.
-
But why spend the resources there when the Sox have other options? You know that the "payroll" will not go up much with the financial difficulties this year. Bauer would be an upgrade but those resources can be used more effectively elsewhere.

Ron Gardenhire retires effective immediately

It's terrible that he is having health issues. Good luck to him in retirement. -
What a minute, when did you become the voice of reason? ?

Mazara wasnt bad. He was ok. However that proves my point even more. If they let a bad baseball continue to start regardless of the the better players behind what do you think they will do with decent baseball players. They will have good cost controlled pitching wasting away when they didnt need to waste resources acquiring him.
-
This would be good. He could easily transition to the bullpen when kopech is ready.
-
What you be a good reason to pitch every 4 days?
-
You're going to pass on him due to his political opinions but not because he wants to ignore all coaching and disrupt the pitching staff.
-
Never know. Only takes one.
-
Oh heck no. We can analyze all we want but some people can just genetically do weird motions (i know what that sounds get your mind out the the gutter). Until he starts to have regular issues, the medical staff will watch it, you dont count anything out.
-
They do in crucial games. I dont think they would plan it out for a game 5 of a 7 game series. If they are down 3-1 maybe.
-
Not really. He is basically saying that he wants to listen to no one and wants no to tell him what to do. He is going to pitch every 4th day regardless of what it does the the rest of the rotation and his teammates. I applaud his desire to get better and improve but worry about a guy who basically tells you he really doesnt care about what his plan does to anyone else.
-
I dont think that just because he is in love with the art of pitching, it necessarily translates to being a good mentor. He is in love with his version of pitching. If he is really pushing for pitching every 4 days, his philosophy is getting stranger and stranger.
-
Pitching every 4 days will really mess up the rest of the rotation. No one else will want to do that.
-
Are you not starting Giolito in game 1 of the ALCS? If he starts game 1 and game 5 that's only 3 days rest. No way they do that.
-
Yes. They are both similar in that regard. He keeps the elbow in a vulnerable position because it never extends to take stress off the ligament.
-
Only after Boston let him have no limitations on max velocity pitches.
-
No. They let him do what he wanted but limited his max velocity pitches.
-
They will need a 5th starter if they make it to the ALCS. They will really put themselves at a disadvantage for the WS due to the limited time off if they dont use a 5th. Who will that be? I was leaning Stiever until yesterday as he didnt show the control. I guess the advantage goes to Lopez.
-
The Sox rarely change anyone's mechanics. It long been their philosphy to not change anything unless an issue arises. Chris Sale is the prime example. Crochet does have that violent short arm flip that will increase stress on the shoulder and leaves the elbow in a vulnerable position for the whole motion.
