There is far more contact and breathing in each other face in soccer. This is far more direct than going from hand to hand.
-
Obviously you haven't read very many then. I've repeatedly said both sides are at fault and it's only because I am the only one who even will consider the owners side that it looks that way. This is why i found myself defending them in so many posts.
-
There will 100% baseball this year. This is just a negotiating tactic to stall until enough days are gone that the maximum number of games are down to a number the owners want. This way the players don't have grounds for a grievance while the owners do. Any way as I said in another thread. This has gone on long enough. Time to let it go. No one is going to change thier views. I will contend to the end both parties are culpable and they are damaging the sport. The owners are evil, the players are saints.

Who's At Fault For No Agreement On The Start Of The Season?

It's not about feeling sorry for the owners. I don't feel sorry for either side. It's about acknowledging the fact that the owners and the players are both being idiots and they are both the cause of this stalemate. As I've said in many different posts I am not on the owners side in this. It's just that everyone else is so biased and anti-owner they cannot even contemplate that the players have at least some degree of fault here. This makes me the only person defending the owners view that the players have fault as well and makes it look like I'm against the players. It's about to let it go because it's not going to change. The owners are evil and the players are saints. -
It's not a valid deal as there was to he renegotitstions without fans. The union wouldn't renegotiate a deal to make it "economically feasible." However, the owners are going to honor that deal as well and institute their number of games.
-
No the players are dug in too. There are refusing to negotiate any further. They both are. Whether you agree or disagree with either stance neither is negotiating.
-
Correct. They are all just digging in. Although there will he baseball this season. This is just the owners stalling to get the days down to where there set number of games us all that is possible. I think stalling to the end of the month should do it.
-
As they get started, we'll see. Soccer is probably close to baseball in contact. Lacrosse has far more contact than baseball. Although Lacrosse is doing it similar to basketball with a tournament all in one spot.
-
I guess the womens soccer league and premier lacrosse league in the US aren't good examples either.
-
I think Germany was similar to the US and they just started or are getting ready to start the Bundesliege. Maybe that will be a little more acurrate.
-
ok. I thought the sox were bad with 20 parking next to the stadium. Guess not.
-
Other sports leagues around the world are opening up as well as the women's soccer league here. It will be interesting to see the results of those.
-
Got it. I thought he meant the Sox. In Boston it doesn't surprise me. There is no parking around there. Its a true premium.

Who's At Fault For No Agreement On The Start Of The Season?

No kidding. Everything has to be a dichotomy. There is either one side or the other. No one want to try to work towards the middle and come to an agreement. One side is always right, one side is always wrong. -
Really? With the season tickets its 16. I didnt realize we got that much of a discount.
-
Agreed. This supersedes baseball games. The MLB and the union continue to drag the sport down.

Could be. I thought there were stories years ago that JR pushed the family that way due to the difficulties of the MLB. I could be wrong though I'm old and my memories are going. -

It's because in the MLB they don't until the sell the team. It's much more expensive to run an MLB compared to the NBA or NFL. I cant say anything about the Bulls because I havent looked into that. My guess is that NBA teams make much more as JR said as much when he reportedly told his kids to keep the Bulls shares but sell the Sox ones dues to the differences on the sports. The fact that his kid is involved in the Bulls front office but not the Sox lends credence to this. -

As you should. I did that to someone a few days ago. As i tell my students, always question it because I do misspeak often (or in this case mistype). -

See regardless of what the owners say or open the books they will not believed. People will always go to the "fake books" They could say a team made a trillion dollars and people will say "wow, if they reported a trillion it must really be 10 trillion." However you are correct in that the fighting between the two sides will create more problems for the sport as a whole. -

Revenues, yes. Profit no. The MLB players salary alone were 128 million. There are salaries, bills, debts, loans and such to be paid. Revenues do no equal profit. MLB had revenues of 10 billion last year. Did the owners profit 10 billion? -

Yes. After normal business operations it is a loss. As was said previously it would do no good to open books because those with a bias against the owners wont believe it anyway. Even if you do take the wrong way to look at and say they made 54 million last year, they owners made about 40% of what the players did. I would hardly call that the owners being greedy. -

Read the Passan article on ESPN. The only team the have financials on is the Braves as the are owned by a publically traded company. They had a net loss of 32 million last year. -
No doubt. it is, was and will be both.
