  1. Good list. I think they need to look at Cole, Bumgarner and Ozuna. Although all are about 30 and they will regret the end of the contracts.
  2. I would agree. The issue will be can they find what they need. LF: Jimenez CF: Robert soon RF: ? 3B: Moncada SS: Anderson 2B: Madrigal soon 1B: Abreu? C McCann/Collins SP: Giolito, Cease, Kopech, To me it looks like an OF, possibly 1B and a starting pitcher are the options for a big FA. There could be smaller ones in the BP but I'm not a big fan of spending big money on a BP as they really vary from year to year.
  3. Never said it was a lot of money. I was curious if you thought that agreed with your comment about them doing the rebuild on the cheap.
  4. Did out bidding all other teams and spending 50 million on an unproven 19/20 year old Robert during the rebuild constitute going cheap on the rebuild?
  5. sorry. I thought the comment about about Hahn wasting enough money already implied that you thought he should make this signing as well.
  6. I really dont understand your logic here. you want them to trade Colome and Abreu both of which are currently helping the team win. this will decrease their chances of winning this year. Yet you want them to sign Keuchel to a 1 year deal to try to win this year?
  7. I dont think you understand the concept of rebuild. the point is to be as bad as they can until they are ready to compete. this way they build up the best draft picks and hopefully the best players to sustain a longer period of winning. Signing Keuchel would get then a worse draft pick and still wouldn't get them any closer to a sustained period of winning. they aren't winning anything this year by design. next year or the after are about when the winning should start, 4 to 5 years into a rebuild. they've made some big mistakes such as not signing Harper or Machado but not signing Keuchel to a 1 year deal isn't one of them.

    6/6 Games

rib injuries can be devastating for a hitter. most likely not a disc if bending over felt better. probably facet or muscles. edit: or an upset stomach.

    Uh oh. Let's hope not.

I think you are reading it wrong. It was in response to "maybe he is adjusting to the level" not that he had a good game.
  11. One year, 13 mil with the Braves. I'm glad the Sox didn't sign him for just this year. The Braves can certainly benefit this year.

Woah, you mean players need to learn and adjust to new leagues and levels? I though for sure they just played the whole season like their first 20 games or so. Not that all of them can make the adjustments but writing any players off before half a season doesn't make much sense. The end of the season numbers don't even mean as much as the progress during the season.
  13. This is correct in theory but I'm not sure Theo can win without the money he had in Boston and the Cubs. How many teams can buy an entire pitching staff and truly compete? He does very well with hitters but he really can't draft and develop pitchers, at least not yet.
  14. I would blame the guy that won't release the purse strings more. As we discussed in another thread do you really think FO wouldnt want to have those players? They are limited by the current and future payroll budget.
  15. I think with that many 100 loss seasons it would be worse. That 100 mark is special. Just my opinion of course.
  16. And the Cubs and Astros were awful for more seasons (so far). The Astros lost 100 games 3 years in a row. The Sox had 1. Can you imagine the reaction here if the Sox did that? While the Sox rebuild has been painful it hasn't been (so far) that bad.
  17. Their excuse for not adding any significant players this past offseason was that they didn't want to get into the penalty tax. If Zobrist doesnt have marital problems they ,at not have done this deal. Maybe once the new TV revenue kicks in they won't care about the penalty.
  18. Theo paying for not being able to draft pitching. It will be interesting to see how close to the penalty they are and what it does to their ability to sign/keep players next year.
  19. I was thinking more in the playoffs. I'm old and could be wrong but I remember a poor post season. They have to do it for this season, they dont have much else. That's why I said I understand why they are doing it. I just think they will regret it.
  20. I just don't think he has much left after watching him at the end of last year. He will be another guy they can't depend on in high leverage situations. The money really doesn't matter as I just don't think he will be dependable in the long run.
  21. I understand why they need to do it, but they will regret it.
  22. This is basically the all lottery draft, except Vaughn
