Strikeouts are facist. Throw more groundballs, they're more democratic.

He prefers Smirnoff. He had the best line for retirement I've ever heard. someone asked him what his plan was for retirement and he said, "my wrists and knees don't allow me to golf as much as I would like so my plan right now is to turn Smirnoff into urine."
-
He's just having fun. that'd what the game needs more of, at least that's what I'm told.

In 30 years in the field I have never seen a player forced to play. I've seen some talk them into it, but I've never seen someone refuse to play and them forced to. Most of the time it's the players themselves contradicting the medical staff. Whether it be from not wanting to lose a roster spot or the competitive drive to win. I can't tell you how many times an NFL player would come off the field with a head injury and say it was their shoulder so they wouldnt check for a concussion. This is why they came up with the AT spotter up in the booth and the independent neurologist on the sidelines.

I don't think they are playing a service time game with Cease. I think it is more how to use his innings efficiently this year. I don't think they want to just shut him down in August. I think they want to limit his innings in the minors so they can have extended starts in the MLB.

I know you were joking about moncada but it just reminded me of some of the weird things players do for championships. The competitive drive is a lot more than I ever had or have.
-
players will do weird things in championship series/games. Jack Youngblood played in the playoffs and Super Bowl with fractured fibula. John Elway had a surgery to detach his biceps so he could play in a Super Bowl. usually don't do this for regular games though.
-
They don't inject muscles with cortisone for Moncada's case.

The league for GF is called advanced rookie league. I'm not sure if all teams treat it that way but my experience was that it had the more advanced talent.
-
The starter is usually determined by when their spot in the rotation comes up. Last year the astros had Verlander pitch just prior to the game so he didn't pitch in the game. He got his rest for the 2nd half of the season. It wouldn't surprise me if they did that again and Verlander isn't even a consideration.

They won't assume. They will have done the medical exam and made their best educated guess. The critical thinking is why they call it the practice of medicine not the science of medicine.

While I like those, I've seen them all in concert and nothing can match their raw energy. You sir are incorrect.

The Sex Pistols and the Ramones saved my sanity at the time. I lost it later but that's another story. ?
-
I can see that especially with the LH starters coming up but i wonder how far in advance they knew that.
-
This was only done because it is a state government run facility and they are always paranoid about litigation. not that it isn't the right decision but that's why they are one of the first.

It usually depends on if some employee abused it in the past so the administration had to crack down. Sometimes the boss is just a hardass though.
-
Why? It's one of the muscles attached to the scapula, probably rhomboid or mid trap. It only hurts when he really uses that shoulder more.
-
He is correct in doing this. Giving contracts to a pitcher who you know the entire medical history like Danks or Buerhle is fine. I dont blame him for not giving long term deals to other organizations pitchers. It usually doesnt work out.

I think Cashmans reply would be"Rick, the legalization of weed in Illinois doesn't start until January, don't get caught."
-
I think it's going to take awhile though. Just like Moncada was last year, he is currently too passive. I do think he will learn.
-
that could be true. however I don't think the group you stated has any bearing on that. the machado/harper fiasco is a different story.
-
it says that the best prospects for. the rebuild aren't quite ready. the end of this year into next year is when the prospects from the last few drafts should be ready.
-
no, because they were just cheap agers to fill out the MLB roster until the real prospects and players are ready. these players weren't acquired to be long term. this year was all about Anderson, mo.cada, giolito, Lopez bummer and players for the future to show progress. Most have.
-
you do realize these players are just pace holders until they start to get good. None of these players were being counted on as pieces for the future.

Yankees vs White Sox Father's Day Gamethread
ptatc replied to Tnetennba's topic in 2019 Season in Review
This isn't uncommon when the Yankmees come to town, as you said, even when the Sox are bad.
