This is what Cooper teaches, sacrificing velocity for movement. However, much of this board pretty much wants him gone.
-
With this rotation is startling that they can win like this.
-
I've never said it wasn't a failed or bad trade. he acquired him to try to get his brother in law here. it didnt work. however in the big picture if the rebuild, it effects nothing.
-
It did fail because they didn't get Machado. However to say the I diana are laughing at the Sox because of it isn't true. The deal has not and will not change anything the Sox are doing going forward. It did not hurt the team one bit.
-
9 million is not a lot of money in the MLB. Especially to a team like the Sox who were and are rebuilding with a miniscule payroll. They took a shot at helping them acquire Machado and it didn't work. The deal however and hasn't hurt the Sox or the Indians. It may have actually helped the Sox as it gave them a reason to keep Collins in the minors longer. In the end the deal was inconsequential.
-
And the 9 million helped the Indians how? Being 9 games back of the Twins? The deal was useless for both teams. He was a serviceable player for the Indians last year. There was absolutely no reason to think he was going to be this awful for either team this year.
-
This really isn't news is it? Everyone pretty much knew this when he was acquired.
-
Is t that who the Indians acquired for Alonzo? It's not like they got anything out of it.
-
there many ways to get one however none of them take 3 months to heal.
-
This is really odd. It shouldn't be that long for a bruised heel. These is something else going on.
-
This is one 9f the important variables. The ligaments can only take so much stress. This is one arguement for increased workload. Ligaments will increase tensile strength with increased load.
-
At what? The .242 average and .695 OPS from Alex Call in AA.
-
Yes. He should be fine. The rehab will be 6-9 months.

White Sox vs Twins 7:10 PM CT Detwiler vs Berrios

Not being obtuse, nice word by the way. Just pointing out that be went out of to criticize a player that struggled who was a recent acquisition but didn't praise the player who played well who was also a recent acquisition. Whose to say that next year when they will be trying to win that Herrera wint be better. Bullpen pieces are fickle. Dont penalize him for next year when it hasn't happened yet. The patella tendon is also referred to as the patella ligament. It connects the patella to the tibia. Both are bones so by definition it is a ligament. However, since the physiology of it is tendonous it is often referred to as a tendon. The primary structure that keeps the patella from moving too far laterally is the medial patella femoral ligament, so there are other ligaments connected to the patella as well. All the being said, I'm sure it was the patella tendon/ligament that was torn.

you didnt say that detwiler was a good pick up for today but you said that Herrera was a bad one. -
that's good for a high ankle sprain.
-
I think we know why his velocity was down. The patella tendon doesn't just tear. Its had problems for awhile.

I can see why you have trouble keeping a job. That is far too much supervision needed for most jobs to maintain any type of high level of production. Sounds like you need a factory or warehouse job where everything is on a movement and production schedule.

If the best a scout can do is convince a team to draft a guy in the 32nd round, he will not be employed long. They get their reputation by getting guys drafted in the upper rounds and the ones that become MLB regulars and stars. You are really reaching for things to criticize when it's something that all teams do even if the Sox do it more than others, which I doubt. Maybe you should be more angry that they didn't take the one that was worth drafting, Allen Thomas kid.
-
Yes. He can blame his brother in law that he is unemployed. If Machado was here, the Sox don't cut Alonzo.
-
We were discussing the original timeline from the first injury. At least that's what I though we were discussing.
-
Yes. But his was so minor I don't think they even spent the money on the MRI.
-
No, I don't have an issue with making those types of picks with lower picks. It's rare that any player taking after round 15 amounts to much.
-
That's my point. It wasn't working thus go young and through the system. I really don't see them needing much this off season as far as big FA. The primary asset they need is a starting pitcher. However, i agree with JR on this, I'm very wary of signing any FA starting pitcher to a long term deal. This is why the progress of Giolito this year and Cease and Kopech next year is essential. This way they only need a mid-tier pitcher for the back of the rotation.
