Anyone know why Detweiler only pitched 2 innings to start for Charlotte?
  3. It is and as explained earlier its not necessarily very bad news. It may actually be a good sign.

    Wow, that is easy speed.
  5. The latest was in early June when it was reported he wasn't playing yet due to heel pain.
  6. Yeah, they usually feel good at somewhere between 9-12 months. It's the feeling all the way back to normal that is the variable.
  7. Burdi could be in the 15% we can't get back to his prior level of performance.
  8. Most athletes will tell you it takes about 18 months to feel "normal " again after these types of surgeries. They can play as early as 9 months post surgery but it's not quite normal. They prevailing theory is that the smaller nerves can heal for roughly that amount of time. This extra time isn't too big of a deal for an offensive lineman but for a pitcher who needs such fine detail for mechanics, it can take that long to really get going again.
  9. Dunning will be ready to pitch in 2020. I don't know if it will be at the MLB level.
  10. no doubt. I'm just that's what typically happens mechanically. The tear is most likely not a result of body weight. Especially the second "misstep" one. It's more about the amount of muscle force when the tendon is in that position. It usually happens during the eccentric muscle contraction like landing from a jump. It's much more likely that is was too tight and wasn't in a good position to handle the force than the body weight, although it could be a factor. If the "bad body" is an issue, it would be the tightness.
  11. Anti-inflammatories. He didn't have an infection. It is a different surgery when they don't find or need to repair a structural issue.
  12. I would disagree with the certainty of this. 1. While it's possible that heel is related to the achilles, typically it's the opposite problem. a tight achilles puts less pressure on the heel as the heel can't touch the ground. These people tend to have arch issues as they become more toe walkers. 2. most people who have achilles tendon repairs have no other related issues has there aren't tissues taken from other parts of the body unlike the ACL where you need to take a graft from somewhere else.
  13. It's probably for the best as he is probably the most familiar with him as he caught him at AAA.
  14. This is why he will be up sometime not too long after the ASB. Probably that next homestand.
  15. Yep. They wanted a guy similar to Toews as a two way player. He will help the defense unlike some of the other center men or forwards available.
  16. Cease will be called up at some point this year.
  17. It's not a bad idea except for the fact that the money made through athletics funds many academic scholarships. The athletic money far and away exceeds any other money the university gets so getting rid of athletics will actually deprive the university students of academic scholarships.
  18. I prefer the ejector mound where he gets shot into the air and lands on a cushion in the bullpen.

Depends on the job. My wife who works for a worldwide insurance company does a great deal of work with London and Zurich. Because of the 6 hour time difference she has to stick to a schedule due to meetings with others. The flexible hours are fine if you aren't meeting with others constantly but it's not always the best option.
  20. The reason you get a Despaigne is that they will only have him for this year. They don't need any special this year. They will have 5 for next year with the additions of Cease and Kopech, plus 1 to find in the off season. They price for a trade (if they go that route) will be too high during the season with the new trade deadline.
  21. I don't think they planned too. They are expecting to compete next year with a rotation base of Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Kopech and Rodon with Dunning in the minors. They didn't want to acquire anyone who would take innings away from that group for next year. Even with Rodon going down they really only have one spot for next year. For this year they can fill the rotation with literally anyone. Find another Despaigne.
  22. I wouldn't either. Not because Danks but I wouldn't sign a pitcher that wasn't on my team for that long of a contract. If they're on your team you know their medicals inside and out. You just can't do that for a pitcher from another organization.
  23. Strikeouts are facist. Throw more groundballs, they're more democratic.
  24. He prefers Smirnoff. He had the best line for retirement I've ever heard. someone asked him what his plan was for retirement and he said, "my wrists and knees don't allow me to golf as much as I would like so my plan right now is to turn Smirnoff into urine."
  25. He's just having fun. that'd what the game needs more of, at least that's what I'm told.
