think how good he could be if the Sox could develop players! ?

Look at the June schedule. the sox only have 4 games against a team with a losing record, 4 against the Nationals who aren't that bad. Every other game is against teams with winning records, Yankmees, Boston, Texas, Tampa, minnesota. It will be a long month.

yes. we have signed affidavits that said Manny requested the Sox acquire his friends. that a joke by the way. so was the previous post. it was discussed at the time that the only reason the Six acquired both Alonso and Jay was to tempt Manny. Who knows if it was true. Sounds plausible though.

.220 isn't a problem if he has an OBP of 350 and a 500 SLG. you could be right but I dont think he's in the "almost certainly " won't hit category. His entire minor league career shows he has a chance to be a very valuable hitter.

What makes you say this? He currently has 8 HR and .552 SLG which would be near 40 for a full season. He also has a ,375 OBP which is one of his lowest in the minors. I don't expect that in the MLB but 30 HR and a .350 OBP seems attainable.

that's a different story. however all reports are saying he only wants a 1 year deal to hit free agency again. It would great for the team if he would sign a multi year deal.

why would it make sense? with him what is the realistic record for the team? Slightly above .500? he will get at best about 17 starts. there really isn't much advantage to that other than a worse draft pick. I'm not necessarily against it as it would probably be good press but it really won't help the team much.

this the catch 22. Giolito did not start pitching quickly until he started pitching well and gained confidence. I'm not sure a pitcher going poorly can pitch quickly.

there us no need for him in this team. they aren't really good enough this year. A 1 year does nothing to help this team for when they should be competitive over the next couple of years. the only reason to sign him us to appease the fans which I guess does have some value. it would be good for public opinion.

there us never a lost cause. he needs to continue to work on his secondary pitches but more importantly he needs to learn how to pitch without his best stuff and how to pitch out of trouble. he can pitch very well when he has great stuff. its learning how to pitch with adversity that is important. that's why I dont necessarily disagree with the decision to keep him in yesterday. it wasn't the best decision for winning the game but it was a good decision to see how Lopez would handle the situation they need to find out if he can be part of a competitive team rotation.

The only HS player I can remember them drafting recently is Bryce Bush somewhere in the 30's for a round, if i remember correctly.

I doubt many foundational quality players can be acquired for international bonus pool money. Those are usually backup or flier types.
