I agree. Truly competing won't happen in 2019. 2020 is a possibility of one signs.
-
If now means 2019, I don't think they would win even if both Machado and Harper sign. However, over the next couple of years as more prospects show up they will. They will not contend in 2019 regardless. The signing of these players just speeds up the clock ala the Bears and Mack.

If teams discuss their offer with other teams it is collusion because they will keep the offers lower. The agents want to tell the team that "another team" offered more to drive the price up.

Hahn should be fired for trying to get Manny by acquiring these two guys? I think he should have been fired if he didn't try everything to get him, regardless if it works. -

So then you agree that they shouldn't try everything to convince hi. to come here. -

So you don't agree that there are factors beyond the FO control such as manny wanting to play for his childhood team or wife preferring NY over Chicago. Again trying harder makes losing worse. That's a really good way to teach people to not try because to make losing easier. I would rather give them credit for trying. Doesn't mean it was a success but at least it's different from the past where they weren't in the game. -

You will fault them for doing everything they can to try to convince him to sign with the Sox, even if it doesn't work? I still don't understand why trying everything they can is a reason to find fault. -

Your not dense. Just looking for any reason to fault the FO. This money is inconsequential during this time. If they were already near their spending limit, its different. -

I don't think adding 13 million to a 75 million payroll especially with the current youth movement will be significant. Especially since they are both for one year. -

No kidding. I can't believe people are ripping the FO for doing everything they can to help Manny with his decision. -
There is no way to find anything in the Hudson river. It may as well be radioactive sludge, I'm not sure it isn't. In fact it would degrade the body faster than the mollusks could eat it.
-
Now there is a true selling point.
-
However, with the strong current of the rivers, the body may wash away into the ocean and won't be seen again. Those northeastern lobsters will get into the remains as well. Looks like his agent has more research to do. No wonder it is taking so long.

Garcia was married to a girl Ozzie considered his niece. Wasn't a blood relation but a real close family friend, if I remember correctly.
-
I though that WAS the new rumor. ?
-
His point was that would he want Alonso around if he was cheating on Alonso's sister. So did the Sox hurt their chances with Machado by bringing in Alonso.

I agree that the % inherited and scored are more important than the raw numbers. -
I agree with yesterday's game. But overall he's been good. Having to learn a new defensive scheme while the offense continues to grow would be the issue.

Because there is no such thing as a flawless player. They all had their strengths a nod weakness. Out of 5ge group you mentioned only Moncada was considered #1. Your discussion is purely hindsight. They received an outstanding group of prospects for Sale, but they were still prospects. -

A good catcher helps as well. How good is Grandal with calling a game and working with young pirchers? -

I disagree with your assessment of the Sale trade. You are looking at Moncada in hindsight. Moncada was the #1 prospect in baseball by multiple groups. He was a prospect and not all of them live up to the hype. That's the chance you take. They also acquired Kopech you looked to have near the potential as Sale. With Basabe as well, it looks like a pretty good trade for both teams.
