True. But he still deserves a shot for next year as DH.
-
JR makes a lot more money from his real estate investments than he does from the Sox organization, at least until it's sold. this isn't the McCaskey's and the Bears where its their only business. JR's primary business is real estate.
-
Where is he going to get the extra hundreds of millions of dollars he needs to overspend on starting pitching he can't develop?
-
Pitching trumps hitting. Even high end relievers

I think it should be more about the crime than this position. The Gorsuch case has nothing to do with this unless he committed sexual assault and got away with it.
-
No doubt.
-
What you say is undoubtedly true. I guess just because I can't name the circuit court judges doesn't mean that it isn't an important position. This proves the point that it's more the position not the crime. Your view on it could be accurate for her intentions. As I said earlier I hope her motivation is that this position is finally important enough to take the risk. However, I think it minimizes the crime and the political cynic in me take over.
-
Its possible. See my last post as to why I think it is less likely than the cynical version.
-
No. The optimist in me would like to believe this situation is the same for her. However she has documented proof that she has discussed this in private in the past. So unfortunately the political cynic in me based on the decisive politics of today thinks otherwise.
-
No doubt she is within her rights. It just sends the message that the crime of sexual assault wasn't important until he was nominated for this position. I think that is wrong. He shouldn't have been allowed to be a lower level judge either. They can have effect on lives as well albeit at a more local level. She is making it purely about the position not the crime.
-
What he deserves is to never have been a judge in the first place. I am not defending him in the least. He should be prosecuted and should have been prosecuted for his crime. By her saying he shouldn't be a supreme court justice is saying it was fine for him to be a lower level judge because it didn't matter until he was a nominee for the supreme court.
-
They do. But she didn't report it when he became a judge at a lower level. Didn't he as a judge play a role where is could have adverse effects? The only issue I have is her comment about he shouldn't be a supreme court justice. He shouldn't have been any type of judge. He shouldn't have become a lawyer. It as only important when the topic of Supreme Court was brought up.
-
I get it. It just makes it sound like the crime wasn't important until he ran for an important position. Should this never have been brought up, if he wasn't up for an important position?
-
I just don't like crimes being used for political purposes. She should go after him and he should get everything he deserves. Yes, I'm an awful person.
-
I don't disagree with any of this. This should not be a politicized issue. Bringing it up now though makes it a political issue.
-
That's my point. She may have brought it up to people in private before but she waited until this situation to make it public. This is more about him not being a supreme court justice than about prosecuting him for a crime he committed. He should have been prosecuted years ago, waiting until now just politicizes the crime. I guess maybe she sees justice as him not being on the Supreme Court but that doesn't seem enough.
-
No doubt. That is the last position they need to spend a large contract on.
-
Are you trying to say that she just happened to wait until he was up for a supreme court nomination to bring this up is just coincidence? Your point would be true if it happened at another time in the past 36 years or in the future. I'm not saying it isn't true or that he shouldn't be prosecuted just that it is motivated by the situation to bring it up now.
-
Sure. Waiting 36 years to report it when it was never reported to police and waiting until he is up for nomination to the Supreme Court. Why do you suppose she waited so long? The whole thing is just politics on both sides. It's more of the same.
-
No doubt

Apparently no one can kick field goals or extra points either.

Nobody can tackle.

According to the ESPN report he doesn't have a ligament sprain. The bone bruise is the long term worry. They said it was from a compression injury, that means the joint surface hitting together. He would have to have cartilage damage if that's the case. Guess it depends which report is correct.
-
I don't think they are planning on contending next year. They will improve but not by that much.
-
Yeah, the ESPN report doesn't make sense. If it is truly a "compression" injury as opposed to a ligament injury, he is an idiot for playing. The only structures that could be injured like this are the different cartilages. The meniscus would be really obvious and would be reported. The other is the hyaline which is the covering of the bone and will lead to arthritis, if not cared for. Maybe he wants a knee replacement early in life. The brace they had on his knee suggests they aren't being totally truthful or that the medical staff was way off.
