  1. I would give them 1 more year. It's not until 2020 that many of the prospect will need room in the MLB. Until then, why spend the money on someone else?
  2. The pitching to contact also goes along with not throwing at the top of your range to add more movement and protect your arm. Beat that ball into the ground!
  3. Not really. He was within the normal recovery time. It's just that why bother once they were out of contention.
  4. Many were. But some were from swinging for the fences on every pitch without trying to hit the opposite way or cutting down his swing with 2 strikes.
  5. Sorry. Mine was supposed to be green as well. I must have not hit the correct button.
  6. It's not surprising that his strike outs go down when he doesn't try to hit a homerun on every pitch.
  7. The 3 tools would be hit, speed and defense. He could still qualify without "hit for power: tool.
  8. It is. that's why it would be a discussion. However, as a general rule they would have gone from 160 to 200. Even if they did he would have been gassed and probably ineffective. In today's game I don't think the 120 to 140 would work. the pitchers throw so hard too often and gas themselves early. There may be a few that could do it but most don't look past 6 innings and 100 anymore.
  9. Maybe they are looking ahead. guys like Leury and Yolmer will be getting raises soon.
  10. This would be the discussion. I'm not sure there is a right answer but they would need to decrease the innings but they would still be fatigued at the end and may not be useful. This is why they need to increase the innings while they can and why it was the correct decision to bring Kopech up.
  11. You would hope so. However, if they were in contention would they make the decision to skip starts during the year if it was a close race?
  12. What would bd the reaction if the Sox had to do that with Kopech next year.
  13. People are now complaining about high voter turnout? Regardless of the reason, the higher turnout should always be a good thing. More voters should be involved in the process.
  14. Might he be a little irked at the team.
  15. got it. i wasn't really sure what "hot zone" measured. i wasn't sure if it was just the hits or if it included misses.
  16. Could some of this be that he is so passive that these are the only ones he swings at?
  17. It is a an MCL sprain. You could tell by the lateral hinge brace they had him wear when he played later. He can definitely injure it worse when he played last week or if he plays this week. All depends on the edema and laxity by Sunday.
  18. You can see him look at Burton and pause. He must have seen the safety sprinting over and decided he couldnt make the throw in time.
  19. Yes, this is the adjustment that needs to be made currently by the hitters. I don't think the roboump would change much except more walks. Pitchers are still going to try to get the hitter's to chase pitches out of the zone for strike 3. If the hitters expand the zone they are creating more action. I don't see the pitchers going into the zone more for strikeouts as much as people think. They may some but few pitchers can really just put the ball over the plate and get away with it. The best pitchers can, but they do already.
  20. Your points 2 and 3 will cancel each other out. Once Smith is ready to play Kwiatkowski will not be in there during the pass coverage much.
  21. You could look at it that way. Or you could say that Pace has really acquired some good players and the new coach showed some good innovations so maybe I'll give them a chance. This was the best the Bears have looked in awhile.
  22. Because you are assuming that what happened 50 years ago has an influence on how Trubiskey plays. The Bears have never really had this type of offense with this talent. This in no way resembles the Payton right, Payton lect, Payton up the middle offenses of the 70s and 80s when they didn't need or want a QB. Don't live in the past, think positive for the future. There are untold possibilities.
  23. True. However, they will know this long before Spring training of 2020.
