Burdi was asecond round pick, wasnt he? Seems to be he was in the same draft as Collins. -
Hence the reason they were all available off the scrap heap. Except Engel who they drafted.
-
Yes. It usually involves game times and rehab times.

In the last article NH talked quote a bit about Madrigal mentality.

This is the key. 90 pitches fine in the MLB, if the command is there. How is the 98 of Lopez currently doing? A little command goes a long way.
-
Hate to tell you this but KW will have a hand in the decision regardless of who they pick. He is their boss, is primarily a scout and is the final cross checker.

It's different game today. Fans accept losing and strikeouts and pitchers to throw as hard so they leave earlier in games. Fans used to expect the FO to draft well so they don't have to go through a rebuild and losing. Now they lose on purpose to make their job easier.

Used to be Jim Edmonds

I woulnt take HS pitchers that high in the draft either. Too much investment for the risk.
-
Tanking and rebuilding is and should be irrelevant to players. The players on the field should bust their rear ends to win evefy game. This is the right attitude and frankly what they are paid to do. its up to the front office to make sure there isnt enough talent on the field to win many game.

Singer situation sounds a lot lime how the Sox got Rodon. #1 before the season but some issues during the season to allow him to drop.
-
Wow, he has a nice fluid, easy swing. It's obvious why his contact/hit tool is so highly rated. He won't generate much power but the contact should be outstanding. I see there is another Broussard at LSU.
-
Whats wrong with bringing him up when he can throw 100 pitches? The Sox already have enough 4-5inning pitchers and Rodon when he is healthy doesnt go deep in games.

I wonder if this will lead to a less genetic diversity in the long run. I have a number of female friends who opted for artificial insemination and single parenthood because of homosexuality. They could pick most likely eye, hair, skin color and also pick based on IQ scores. This process will limit un wanted genetic diseases. However, it may also limit diversity. -
I thought most scouts and draft people said Fulmer was most likely a reliever?

Santiago warmed up right handed first. Now he switched to left handed. Perhaps they should remind him earlier that he pitches lefty. -
This is more what I think.

The sox shouldnt push a prospect if he isnt ready. Forcing them to be ready will not nelp the team be successful. They may be ready but i dont think they should count on it. Machado may be a good signing but if they sign a CF what will the sox do with Rutherford and Robert in 2 years? They have spend resources to acquire these guys and now you want them to spend more resources to make them trade bait. Its better to let the rebuild happen at the pace of the players development.
-
Do you really think the Sox will use thier higher picks on HS? That just seems so unlike their usual picks.
-
No doubt Collins and Dunning could be there by mid-season. But if they don't push Eloy and Kopech up this season, who are much more touted prospects, I don't see why they would push the others faster in their development. Burdi should be ready depending on what he looks like throwing, hopefully he fully recovers. The FA are a little early when they are trying to develop the prospects. Right now I'm not even sure what position they would want to look for. The OF is where they need the most help. However, with so many talented prospects in the OF, long term deals would block all of their OF investments.
-
Other than Kopech none of the players you have listed have pkayed at AAA, Cease hasnt even been to AA. To expect them to contrbute before July of next year is pushing it. The Sox will not have much for the first half of 2019 unless this current group really takes a step up. Adding FA next year defeats the purpose of the rebuild.

I would disagree. There is a great deal to learn at the MLB level. It all depends on how long that takes. If what you say is true then all players should be instantly productive at the MLB level at the same level they were in the minors. I assume you believe moncada will not be a good MLB player because he won't have development phase at the MLB. He is what he is and that's that. This is the part that is short sighted.

Probably meniscus then, unless it went ACL but they usually report those.
