  1. Yes but the problem is he only gave up 2 runs and they won the game. He can pitch in AAA and be successful walking 6 guys. He cant go into a game with the primary goal of not walking hitters. Thats like playing not to lose and it takes away any aggressiveness. That will really limit any success he has at the MLB.
  2. Cedeno does have a limit of one LH hitter. He is being showcased as a LOOGY.
  3. With the new PED testing, especially the amphetamines, teams really do need to use two catchers more. Its such a physically demanding position. If teams want catchers who arent beat down at the end of the season and the playoffs, they need to use the second catcher much more.
  4. I hope RH isnt dictating in game strategy. That will really make it tough to hire the next manager.
  5. Its definitely good for him long term. Baseball is a game of dealing with and learning from failing. They need to learn to make adjustments. Its best this happens in the minors first out of the spotlight of the MLB. I think this was the issue with Beckham. He really didnt need to adjust until the MLB and he couldnt do it. I still dont necessarily think this means he isnt ready but the next few starts will be a good learning experience on how to adjust and come back from an awful start.
  6. This is especially true in the bullpen. How many useful pitchers were traded last year? Its going to take time. That being said RR used too many of the better pitchers early. The only possible excuse is that they wanted to see if Minaya could handle the pressure of the eighth. While he did pretty well with only the one run, he didnt get the job done.
  7. I agree they shouldnt have used so many early. But again they cant have all the bullpen go an inning every night.
  8. When the bullpen needs to pitch 3 innings every day everyone in the bullpen gets used. They dont have a choice.
  9. The question wasn't if he is ready for the MLB. The comment was that he would be in the Fulmer/Giolito range of performance right now. i think he would be better than those but not necessarily ready for the MLB. However, As I said previously if people want to wait for his BB rate to go below say 4.5 BB/9, they may never see him in the MLB. He just isn't that type of pitcher.
  10. I think Rodon has proven himself to be at a minimum, an effective MLB pitcher. Durability may be an issue, this remains to be seen, but he is an effective part of a good rotation.
  11. In baseball, where daily lineups are so variable, one state should offer a "buyout" where someone can get a certain % of the bet back if the lineup looks bad for that game. I bet (pun intended) that would increase business for that state over some others. A competitive edge.
  12. This is why they need to create depth throughout the system. The Sox seem to have done this over the past two years. This is the reason that the future is positive for the team.
  13. yes. So goes the nature of prospects. Everyone needs to keep this in mind. They are all suspects until they are playing against MLB players.
  14. He can throw enough strikes with better stuff to do better than the other two. He is still learning how to pitch, no doubt. However, his K:bb ratio will still put him in far better position. Giolito has a negative ratio.
  15. Should not have any bearing on whether they bring him up or not. If he's not ready, he's not ready but the quality of the MLB is irrelevant.
  16. That is a huge supposition and most likely incorrect simply based on stuff. He can get away with many more mistakes due to the pure stuff. not to say he would be good but he wouldn't be at their level.
  17. This cant be true. KW is evil incarnate and wanted Singer.
  18. The question itself is an oxymoron. The concept doesnt exist for 2 primary reasons: 1. Injuries 2. Falied development In the current age of velocity focused, shortened duration starters, more pitchers are needed for replacements and the bullpen.
  19. The 2021 five year plan was always the expected typical process. Many people reduced it to 2020 due to some of the advanced prospects acquired in the trades, Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, Jimenez and Kopech specifically. That is still possible. However to expect many of the drafted playeŕs to be ready, the 2021 timeline is reasonable so the FO in my view gets that time. No playoffs by 2021, bye bye FO.
  20. Its somewhat difficult to make the playoffs in the middle of the season. However if they consider this year 2, 5 years would be 2021. That would give minor league players 3 years in the minors plus one for MLB seasoning and playoffs the following year for reference to your lack of playoff appearances.
  21. Since JR approved the rebuild, he will need to be patient enough for those players to reach the MLB. If the players acquired in the last 2 years fail, the entire FO should go. In. Realistic timeline that another 2-3 years.
  22. If you are going to declare those players failures how about discussung Covey, Abreu, Sanchez, Anderson, Rodon, Dunning, Jimenez, Collins, Zavala, Fry, Soria.
  23. That is a good point. I think there could be advantages to that.
